  • Very impressive !!!

  • Perahia is such an outstanding performer . Refined, intelligent , passionate.

  • lol at the 1 retard who disliked this

  • 32 variations on camera positioning

  • One of best performances of this piece, thanks for posting. Radu Lupu's is my favorite.

  • WOW! Didn't you recognize him? It's Beethoven playing!

  • @Resonance86

I agree totally with you : as you can see, Ludwig van Beethoven is 241 years old (since December 17th) but he is still so young as Peraand his music too ! Perahia would have made an amazing impression on Beethoven.

  • Breathless perfection and intensity

  • This is just extraordinary, quite astonishingly good. As a matter of interest, how does such a wonderful composition end up with a humble WoO number instead of an opus number?

  • @MrOnTheLevel - Indeed, a lot of the WoO stuff is fragmentary, ephemeral or just weird, like WoO 1, "Musik zu einem Ritterballett," or "Music for a ballet on horseback" (for a dessage class?). But WoO 57 is the interesting "Andante favori" for piano, a fine rondo with variations excised from the over-lengthy initial draft of the "Waldstein" Sonata, so perhaps not all WoO pieces are duds. Maybe these 32 variations got laid aside after a tiff with his publisher, not unheard-of with Ludwig.

  • I agree what JalalSela said...I liked his interpretation. Most of the pianists play too fast on the fast variation and I prefer to listen the version a little slower. I really loved the way he played this piece. Bravo!

  • Hurra Perahia!!!

  • the best of the best! **********

  • I believe (IMHO) that Perahia is really one of the very few pianists who plays this piece with a real Beethoven flavor (whatever that mean), if you didn't hear the Handel's Keyboard Suites by him yet I highly recommend that you give it a chance... thanks for the video.

  • doesn't even need a positive comment.

already too perfect for such things!

  • Very good!!
