  • live at the bbc is my favourite album

  • byli jsou a stále budou dobří :-) Peace :-)

  • quite early, from a BBC broadcast in January 1963. Nice vocals

  • the beginning sounds like a techno track omg

  • @kaiserkeller61 hahahhaa i freaking love it xDD ♥

  • i like there old sketchy covers the most they killed it if you dont like them dont search them

  • bak sana burdan sesleniyorum, benim kadınımın adını agzına alırsan bir daha, agzına biber sürerim bunu bilmiş ol

  • in the picture of the four of them at 2.06, george harrison looks exactly like he did at around the age of fifty....weird!

  • My mum bought this album on cassette in 1994, when I was 11. I hadn't heard of The Beatles before. I loved this song most of all...I loved this amazing voice. I begged my mum to let me play the tapes on my walkman and eventually she let me take them. So now in 2011...my ipod is full of Beatle albums, I've seen Paul and Ringo in concert, my shelves have far too many Beatle books, dvds, and mags. I became a fan thanks to this song...and I still have my mum's cassettes :)

  • Just to enter the "covers" debate: everybody played covers in then ,that was your job as a "dance hall" band: no DJ's .BUT there was zero equipment so you're playing through steam powered amps with strings 6 months old; if you're lucky you get a PA. Also, no one in Britain could record the sound of American records then,' when sound engineers all wore white coats. Beatles did very accurate covers and managed to be R'n'R band doing MTV unplugged every gig.To make that work nuff respect.

  • Fabulous version of an excellent King song. Everything Lennon touched turned to gold.

  • Awesome song! The picture at 0:55 is fake though.

  • @viceisthename oh yes, it's very fake. we can see it's a cover band in the cavern club /:

  • this song makes me feel nostalgic, almoust cry, i dont know why, maybe this have a lot of feeling thanks to John voice and talent...

  • @pinchold This reads like a clever troll attempt, but i'll bite.

Why do you use inverted commas when describing The Beatles as famous? They WERE famous, whether you like it or not. This is a very well documented and publicised fact.

So you think they were mediocre, and had poor singing and playing? Fair enough, many others thought the same. There are millions of people like me, however, who completely disagree. That's the thing with music, it's subjective, and not to all tastes.

  • @LordLampost I agree with you. And i think Decca agrees with us too... and they are very sad because they didn't signed them. LOL

  • @LordLampost well said!!!!! :D

  • @LordLampost BIGTIME troll action. Poor singing and poor playing? I could accept the criticism of the playing on some tracks- but singing? Seriously? I am assuming that our troll here means to say that in their early attempts to get signed to a label, none of the producers who heard them thought much. That's actually true. That they performed dozens of different artitsts' material is well-known. But it's what they went on to do...

  • @pinchold I think you'll find they weren't mediocre at it. Twist and Shout is one of their best known numbers and they didn't write it, it's just a cover. They became famous by coming through the flourishing merseybeat scene and were better than all the other bands because they had the ability to take all these rythm and blues songs and make them better than the original. And Decca didn't sign them because, according to them, "guitar music was on the way out". You may stand corrected.

  • @lomega1001 Fair enough

  • @pinchold I think that the Beatles were not great singers nor showmen, I think they wer great songwriters, specially Paul.

  • @MAGICO240 I think they were all capable of singing well but none had the vocal range Paul had.John's voice always sounded the same unless he was screaming.Writing talent in my opinion is hard to calculate because of the small amount of George's material that reached the albums.Based on the songs we're provided with its obvious that John was far more imaginative and Paul was a storyteller, However 75% of my faves Paul sings lead vocal.

  • @pinchold Go listen to Justin Bieber that is probably the shit you like to hear and let us, the people with good musical taste, hear THE BEATLES.

  • Comment removed

  • This is a great cover of Little Eva's original version of this Carole King/Jerry Goffin penned song. Good tempo and beat.

  • suchh a beautifull songgg!!!! goo johnnyyy!!! :D <3

  • Glad we're able to listen to these old songs. Thanks for posting them.

  • beautiful <3

john DD: ur voice is amazing :3 lov u

  • Best voice ever.

  • This is a shock. I was a Beatlemanic and I've never heard this song! Wow. Thank you LL for sharing this. :)

  • That voice is recognizable the world over and anywhere. 1980 was such a shame, I would gladly do the same to Mr. Chapman as he did to John Lennon. And would sleep well at night. Not a second thought. No more than exterminating a cock roach.

  • o keep your hands off my baby luv it lar

  • even though this isn't from the 50s, this song is what got me into 50s and early 60s music when i heard it like when i was 13 or 12

  • It was the staff at the music store. I explained my sad story of losing it moving house and they said it could be hard to get now. But on looking it up on the database and making about 3 phone calls for me they said how lucky I was as there were 8 left in the country. Please bear in mind that cassettes do deteriorate with time and obviously CDs (with TLC) will last indefinately.

  • @mssusan1961

Actually, CDs won't last indefinitely, and have a lifespan like any other media - especially if there were any mistakes made during the pressing. What's probably more important, however, is having a CD player that will still be working in a few decades! Take good care of your music equipment so your kids can enjoy it too.

  • @borohachi good point.

  • how cuuuuuuuuuuute!

  • I believe most of the the tracks from the live at the BBC double disc are from a BBC weekly radio program called 'Pop go the Beatles". I indeed had this double disc but it got lost when I moved house last year. I've had separation anxiety ever since!!

  • @mssusan1961 I remember getting my copy fifteen years ago. It was the first Beatles album I ever owned. I can imagine how you feel. If you look on eBay, there might be a copy in new and unused condition.

  • @sapphiretaurus Yes I bought it when it was released in '94. But by no means the first album/CD. Growing up I bought all the LPs (which I still have in mint condish), then bought all the digitally remastered CDs. I was lucky enough to be able to order another one at my local record store. (CD store still doesn't sound the same!). Luckily for me I could order one as there were only 8 left in Australia. Yes eBay would have been the next choice but I think everyones hanging on to theirs. I will be!

  • @mssusan1961 I got them on cassette first. I haven't gotten around to getting any on CD. I also feel strange using the term "CD store." Record store sounds more friendly! Only 8 were left in Australia? How did you find that out? You're right. No one in their right mind would part with theirs.

  • That's right! Keep your hands off George Harrison ladies! He's mine!!!

  • @greendaygirl211 Those are fighting words. Let's step outside!

  • Now a days, dudes are busting caps in a man's ass for touching his woman.

  • stu sutcliffe.

  • Keep your Hands Off my baby Dammit

  • one of my favourites. the bbc discs are so precious, this is pure gold.

  • Stuart Sutcliffe was a cute exbeatle, but my heart belongs always to john lennon the best!

  • This is what parents said to Michae Jackson until he paid them.

  • @JamesTKirkCobain hahaha....good one!

  • This recording emphasises another important aspect of The Beatles. as well as being superb song-writers in their own right, they were able to cover other people's material and make it their own. 'Twist & Shout', 'Please Mr Postman', 'Money' etc.

  • @6diddy6 And they were choice obscure tracks too. They weren't easily found in record shops of the day back then, although i did hear Barrett Strong's "Money" on Londo label (i think) in 1960. Other than that track, I first heard Motown via The Beatles versions & they created an interest. within me They must've done the same for millions of others as well.

  • awesome!!!!I love the beatles!!

  • @sprky44 and beatle boy71 if you don't like it than why are you waching the video you dumb ass!

  • @imaStonesGirl1 It's still a good version.

  • @sprky44 No, I think the Beatles sang it better.

  • It very true.. Lennon's voice did deteriorate after '68. Most of his '70s vocals sucked!! It wasn't till his "comeback" in 1980 that he actually TRIED!! In 1963-66 you couldn't toch him!!

  • "Starting Over" would have made a great early Beatles song!

  • @Burco1 i agree.

  • @andrewcasarsa I was about 14 when "Starting Over" came out and didn't appreciate it as I do today. John seemed to be going for that particular 50's sound. The rest of Double Fantasy is great too!

  • @beatleboy71 Did you heard the white album, abbey road, plastic ono band, imagine!!!?

  • @beatleboy71 I disagree. Based one what I have read, John changed his composing style. His 'different' voice may be because of his 'different' style of music.

In addition, by '68, 'rock' music had an 'edge'. Heavy metal was beginning.

  • great photos, great song, great fab four, great video.. yes!

  • I think we all have to agree that John's voice kicked ass in the early days. Its really one the legendary rock n roll voices. Like Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly

  • very true but you still have to admit that his voice was great till the very end even though it was better in the beginning

  • ringo made a great work here!!! very good drums!! :D

  • John has to mumble the line that comes after, "I don't mind when you lend my clothes", because that next line is "My jewelry and such".

This song was probably too "catty" for a male vocal.

  • I like the Beatles as much as anyone on this post, but the original version of this song, by Little Eva, was better. Their re-makes were better than the original about 3 times out of 4.

  • I totally agree, but think it amazing that a group from Liverpool at that time could even do such a good job of a cover. All of their covers were accurate; they had really done their homework on their musical sources. Check out Lennon's jukebox on you tube, they loved this stuff( me too!)

  • The Beatles vastly improved "Please Mr Postman", giving it its due urgency. I also heard the original "Devil In Her (His) Heart" and they greatly improved that too.

Someone here said the Beatles' version of "Chains" wasn't so great, but I always loved it. They also did a nice job on "Anna". The only thing they couldn't better was "Baby It's You", and I'm not sure they did "Bad Boy" better than Larry Williams. But they matched up pretty well with the masters, Chuck Berry and Little Richard.

  • HMM, I like The Trashmen's version, check it out.

  • The "Surfin Bird" Trashmen? They did this song? Are you lying?

  • Same group! I posted it back in April, just type in:

Trashmen - Keep Your Hands Off My Baby

  • Apparently this was taped direct from his radio by member of public.Good work!

  • my favorite on this album

  • John's singing voice in this is awesome

  • hell yeah! i just wish there was a cleaner version of this

  • great !!!!

  • Merseybeat!

  • 0:53 minutes of the photo are not the beatles, that bad

  • maybe the "fat" Beatles huh?

  • es increible este tema

    ((ºLº))

  • John sure knew how to croon with the best of them. Love him, forever.

    Peace&Love!

  • 6nikola9..... Has a nice cover ,very close to true copy.

  • Great tune - wouldn't have broken my heart if they'd re-recorded this for the Please Please Me album, and given the heave-ho to "Chains"... or "A Taste of Honey" or "Twist and Shout." Ok, maybe not Twist and Shout :-)

  • I was gonna say, "Boot 'Twist and Shout'?! That's practically blasphemy!" Glad you changed that! (:

  • Boot "Taste of Honey", not "Chains".

    "Chains" was brilliant.

  • I still rate "Please Please Me" as my personal favorite of all The Beatles' albums, maybe because they were so fresh and young then, plus it is an excellent mix of covers and original material.

  • I feel the same way. Later stuff was great of course, but something about that first album...

  • Thank you. Some bands from the era didn't make such hot LPs, but Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders sure put out a first-rate debut. The album is on fire.

  • I'll have to give it a listen...

  • It is worth picking up. Excellent choice of material, including another great girl group cover, "She's Got the Power" (which should have been the followup single; they performed it on "Hullaballoo"). The band rocks and Fontana and the boys are very versatile vocally. Fine LP.

  • has a transistor radio quality. love it

  • beatles forever! ! !

the best band in the world forever

  • i love this song

  • np =)) jooke :) nice vid...!

  • Thank U

  • This is a good song, what a pity that the quality of sound is bad. =(

  • Mainly because it's live. And it's like that on the CD anyway. :3

It is a great song, but the quality is kinda bad, I will agree.

  • The reason the sound quality isn't so good is that the BBC either threw out or taped over a lot of their master tapes. That's right. They didn't save the master tapes in a vault. This is ,at the very least, a third generation copy. Hence the bad sound. It's sad that the BBC didn't think of the importance of these tapes for future consideration. But, better to have this than nothing at all.

  • it's much better than

    little eva's version :)

  • It's so great to hear a favorite band with "new" material! Thank you!!!

  • great song thank you

  • Great Song and Video!!!

  • Cool!!:)

  • 0:57 is a FAKE! How could you???

  • lol well spotted haha i think a bit of lennon rubbed off on this guy hes a bit cynical haha

  • I LOVE IT!

  • I LOVE IT MORE

  • I DON'T THINK SO!!XD

  • the beatles is best gift music had offer to the world..

  • Ditto, man, I'm 14 and I was SOOO born into the wrong generation... WHAT I would do to be around when the Beatles were famous...

Such a FUN SONG, makes me wanna jump all around the room!

  • OMG, What a small world this is! I am 14 and think the exact same as you do!

  • lol at 45: the guy on the left

  • Ringo? :)

  • yeah

  • this is my favorite of there songs

  • I can play this song on the guitar. The chords are C D Em and G

  • Hey number1BeatlesLOver thanx for telling us what chords they are! I'm gonna go try to play ths now!

  • Your Welcome!!!

Tell me if your able to play it!!!

  • yeah, I only just started to play the guitar, but I'm getting better, and the only reason I'm learning is so i can play Beatles songs with my friends/// =]

  • Thats cool!!!

    Good Luck!!!

Most (alot) of The Beatles' songs are pretty easy to play, some bar chords here and there but pretty there easy. :) (:

  • Oh my gosh!!! I didnt know anybody else would like to live in that generation too. I know exactly what you are talking about. That would be so awesome. And I think our generation today really needs to get their act together, love not hate,be themselves, and apperatiate music. Anybody agree?

  • me too

  • yeah, that's so true, I'm totally born in the wrong decade :/

  • Fabulous...

  • Don't pay any attention to people who don't have an appreciation for good music (like this), they wouldn't know what it sounded like if it smashed a guitar over their heads.

  • Like most Beatles covers they one up the original recording, well done guys!!!

  • It's sound better than the original from Little Eva.

  • I love this song!!!!!!!! Its so great!!!

  • This song is soooooo good, I love it! I heard it a couple of days ago, I'm still running around singing it! I think I've annyoed pretty much anyone I know by either singing it to them in person, or calling them up... BEATLES FOREVER

I like the early stuff more, but lots of the later stuff is BRILLIANT!

This song just has such a great beat and melody!! I feel like dancing/..

Am I the only 14 year oold listening to the Beatles these days??

  • I think it's great that The Beatles appeal to all ages. I liked them from when I was young too.

For a 14 year old, you type way better than many adults on YouTube. :)

  • I love it!!! : )))

  • duz anyone have a bass tab for this song??

if u do please send thanx :)

  • It didn't matter if the Beatles were writing their own songs or covering those of others; everytime they opened their mouths to sing it was beautiful.

  • OMG THIS IS MY FAVORITE ALL TIME BEATLES SONG!its amazing. all of them were just simply adorable.

  • lennon best rock vocalist ever, naturally gifted incredible voice, even better than elvis

  • JOHN'S VOCAL IS GREAT

  • OMG! I can't belive how many good songs The Beatles have made! It's amazing! Incredible, absolutly incredible! <3

  • Exelent I keep coming back to this song because I love it!!!

  • John's voice on the early recordings is so amazing. Just love it.

  • This early stuff is the best!!!

  • I love this song!

  • Is just amazing listen to this...I dont mind if the sound is not best...I just love it!

  • fantastic!!

  • Never even knew they did this song (which was a hit for Little Eva, incidentally). Fine job!

  • Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders did it nicely on the 'Game of Love' album.

  • The debut album by Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders, containing their excellent version of "Keep Your Hands Off My Baby", is one of the BEST British Invasion albums of all, packed with great tunes. Worth seeking out.

  • Too much schlock IMO. Way overproduced. Not at all genuine like these lads.

  • Overproduced? You don't know what you're saying. The production on their album was very basic. It sounds like you haven't even heard it. Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders' debut LP is widely hailed as a great album. They were an excellent band. So what if they didn't last long, they rocked like mad. The Beatles weren't the only good British band.

  • @moorlock2003 no The Beatles were NOT the ONLY good British band, but they were the BEST!!!

  • it's so ironic that the rest of the live recordings on this collection are of such good sound quality and this one sounds like it was recorded off the radio by a cheap microphone. great song but a disappointing recording of it.

  • Yes, I believe this one was salvaged from a direct recording of the radio broadcast on someone's radio, which was unfortunately not of great quality. Still a great song though.

  • It just goes to show that it's the performance that's most imoportant, not necessarily the sound quality. Paul's bass playing truly is awesome!! Thanks for posting this. Take this brother, may it serve you well....

  • Putting Live At The BBC on my computer as we speak!

  • love Johns voice in this song!!!

  • I don't know about that, but Paul's bass playing is wonderful! Listen to the bass line. I love that. Also, Paul and George's backing vocal. Superb. I love 'Live at the BBC.'

  • Ringo's drumming is good in every beatles song

  • Give me a break. Ringo was the first one to admit that he wasn't that good. But he had a unique sound, which worked in the Beatles.

  • No he wasn't in the anthology he's continually complimenting his drum sound on Tomorrow Never Knows. I think it's idiotic how people say Ringo suck...I mean of course he's not as good as alot of newer drummers its called progression. Ringo was there before Neil Peart and John Bonham. It's ridiculous to try and compare him.

  • well the thing is that this was Dircecly Recorded with a Cheap Microphone from a Radio somwhere in London or Liverpool

  • Jan 1963....

  • Where awesome! Even at 1962

  • hands off!!!

  • i love this ong

  • Fab!!

  • one of my favourite of their early days' covers

  • I love John's voice in this song.

  • Yeah he sounds superb. I also love Paul and George's backing vocals. And I love the bass. This is such a great version of this. Who needs Little Eva?

  • johns voice it on the knife edge of cryin an rage THE 8TH WONDER OF THE WORLD=THE LIVERPOOL MOUTHFUL=GET IT THROUGH YER HEAD

  • love to hear Little Eva's version!
