  • the only good fwd 6 cylinder made, love these things what was this 0-60 in 7 seconds isnt bad

  • is this a 6 speed?

  • V4s exist, Saab has one. VW only has inline 4s. Done.

  • @all of you , they do make a four cylinder engine , its the 1.8l motor with the turbo and do I really have to elaborate on what the Fuck a vtype engine is? No

    Now troll someone else :)

  • Engine Petrol engines: 1.4L 55 kW I4 1.6L 74 kW I4 1.6L 77 kW I4 16v 1.8L 110 kW I4 Turbo 1.8L 134 kW I4 Turbo 2.0L 85 kW I4 2.3L 110 kW VR5 2.3L 125 kW VR5 2.8L 128 kW VR6 12v 2.8L 130 kW VR6 12v 2.8L 150 kW VR6 24v Diesel engines: 1.9L 50 kW I4 SDI 1.9L 66 kW I4 TDI 1.9L 75 kW I4 TDI 1.9L 81 kW I4 TDI 1.9L 85 kW I4 TDI 1.9L 96 kW I4 TDI 1.9L 110 kW I4 TDI
  • the engine on the 1999-2005 Europe 1999-present China & Mexico

Volkswagen Jetta/ Volkswagen City Jetta (Jetta City in 2009)/

    Volkswagen Bora Classic Edition (China)/

Volkswagen Clásico (2010 onwards in Mexico)/ Volkswagen Bora (Argentina)/ Volkswagen Bora

  • I wish my Bora had a vr6 engine. Gotta settle for the 1.6L with 74KW. Sigh...

  • decently fast

  • u know the reason why they dont make the 1.8t anymore? oil sludge was causing the engines to cease, look it up on google, the vr6 is bulletproof

  • How often do things go wrong with these cars and are they expensive to fix?

  • @amitkalsi1 Volkswagens should not be owned by anybody who either does not love their car enough to spend the time fixing things or anybody who can't afford a $1,500+ bill at any given time....in any given weather.

the reason german cars are more expensive to maintain is not so much due to the cost of parts but more so the cost of labor.

  • Actually the power bumps happened in 2nd half of 2002.

In the 2nd half of 2002 1.8T went from 150 to 180 mainly due to a a different compressor wheel and slightly more boost. The 2nd half of 2002 the VR6's came with the 24v VR mated to a 6 speed transmission.

Also, your 1.8T won't make 800 whp like a vr6 has the potential to.

  • I liked that little bark.

  • 2.8 horsepower stock=176

    1.8t stock=150

    2.0 stock=under150

  • @toxicbmx1 a stock 2.0 base makes 115hp i believe.

  • @toxicbmx1 well, the 12v makes 176 the 24v makes 201hp. and there were 2 20v 1.8ts, with slight compression, etc changes so the more common ones saw 150hp but the 20ths and things like that got 180hp.

and my 2.0 slow came from mexico with 115 hp!

  • shoulda got a 325

  • @BimmerM5e39 WRONG! Ford and Lancia made V4's!

  • Good to see the old 1.8T vs VR6 debate is still alive and well. Driven both. Love both.

  • @rclarkbow , don't buy any vw jetta before the year 2003 ..from 2000-2002 they had so many recalls and reliability on an early jetta is horrible , get a 04 with nice alloys or a GLI

  • @mrbones911 , obviously a v6 will out speed the v4 with a turbo , but when it comes to top performance with mods you will get more out of a boosted 4 cylinder then from your n/a v6 , you could spend a 1000$ on parts for your v6 and ill do the same for my 1.8t and I promise you ill outspeed you anyday

  • @Joshuabrutl

Funny, I didn't know Volkswagen made a V4 engine. I thought it was an inline 4 for some strange reason. I guess you learn something new every day!

  • @DownshiftProductions Its Inline 4 you did not learn something, dont get brainwashed no car manfacturer has released a V-4 yet.

  • @BimmerM5e39 @BimmerM5e39 WRONG! Ford and Lancia made V4's!

  • @wongmylesa man you did some research I just looked this up and they do exist in very old cars, but they have become obsolete to the inline 4. I want a V4 version of the chevy lsx motor like the 427 V8 7.0 cut down to 3.5 V4 213.5cc with ITB's backed by a 6speed manual and a couple of turbos a big intercooler, and thats a pushrod chain driven, not dohc with VVT and no crazy timing repairs. And that is one very compact powerfull engine that can drive you rear drive sports sedan.

  • @BimmerM5e39 Would that fire in the correct order? :O

  • @Joshuabrutl wtf ur dumm as hell.they dont make v4 asshole

  • Be careful while driving a VW, it may catch on fire even tho it's a brand new one

  • my brother just bought a jetta vr6 2001 gls 5speed version and we just put an intake and racing plugs on it and we had a 7.3 0-60mph but we just got it so still getting used to the shifting, and it was also very windy that day. im guessing it might do 6.9's when we learn how to shift better which we will haha.

  • I've chipped my VR6, added cold air intake, and added Dual Exhausts. I've raced and won against GT Mustangs, Z28 Comaros, Hondas, and trucks. I only got my ass handed to me by a blue Suburu WRX Turbo AWD. Besides that, tip your hats to the VR6. It's a mean machine and it means business. I've seen 145 in mine and that wasn't top speed. I get a kick when these local yuppies ride around in their civics and have coffee cans on the back and try to look like hard asses. I almost feel bad for them.

  • @mrbones911 haterrrrr

  • Damn, these people have some issues... I'm a proud owner of a 2000 VR6 and I took it from stock and did some mods. I'm not contesting, but confirming that all of you who stated VR6's are faster than 1.8T's...GOOD JOB; you're not a fuckin idiot! YOU PASS! Now, for the douche bags who take snack packs to school and drive the 1.8T's because they think the cool kids will let them sit at their lunch table; YOU'RE IDIOTS and have obviously never raced a VR6.

  • Mine does it in 3.6sec. Girlfriend has the 99 Jetta VR6, pricing out some parts for turbo install but we need to dump the automatic tranny first.. its a POS transmission.

  • This is top notch, the 2.0L is very popular in my country but it is crappy because the engine is too old and only has 2 ValvesxCylinder...

  • hey man I'm looking to buy one with around 55k miles on it same year and engine and everything as yours, how has yours been reliability wise? Other Jetta owners feel free to jump in here, I don't want a lemon! lol

  • That's not true. I have 2003 Vw gli vr6 24v

The 24v started in 03 and before that it was only 12v

  • lol on Midnight Club 3 the car you start with is a VW Jetta and on the game it gets to 60 in 3 seconds!!

  • @TimpBizkit because that automatic

  • where did u get that stereo dash kit, i need that same exact one.

please some help. i need it for my 2000 jetta

  • were Mk4 Jetta VR6s offered with a 6speed manual too?

  • @MasterSnowstorm

In 2004, the GLI came with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 24 valve VR6 motor.

  • @DownshiftProductions 2003.5, actually.

  • @DownshiftProductions in 2003 the 24v and 6 speed cam out on the GLI

  • @DownshiftProductions in 2003 the 24v. and 6 speed were on the GLI

  • @DownshiftProductions actually it is the 2003 gli. i have one. my interior is like identical to yours.

  • @DownshiftProductions it did in 2002 and 2003 too.

  • @DownshiftProductions Actually the six speed was available in 2003.

  • @DownshiftProductions actually around 2002.5 =D

  • @DownshiftProductions and it pretty much kick ass :)

  • @MasterSnowstorm The 2003 Jetta GLI's also have a 6 speed transmission.

  • yo estoy vendiendo uno igual solo que blindado en 92

    si les interesa contactenme

  • . jettas ARE NOT fast cars. i am so sick of people trying to play them off like they are. if you tune it, you can make it fast. but they ARE NOT fast stock

  • @TheFordmanmike yea well musclestangs arent fast off bonestock either then...

  • though my profile says CelicasForEver i still love DUBS. those and all german cars, BMW, Mercedez, and Audi. amazing cars. Dubs Rule!

  • @girblee 3.5 seconds is fast my 2010 r1 goes 0-60 in 3.1 so idk wat you mean by your car can beat that bcuz if it can ur driving a rocket

  • @girblee hahaa ur a fucking idiot....instead of posting ur stupid ass remarks on youtube where the average viewer would prolly believe you, why not make some of these comments on the vortex forum and see the responses you get....ive driven and worked on pretty much exclusively vw and audi since high school, currently have an s4 and working on my mk2 gti vr swap (not bragging, just saying im not an ill informed moron) and i can tell you right now, from experience, no stock 1.8t is beating a vr

  • k imbecil

  • @girblee If you actually made $90k a year then you wouldn't be on youtube arguing with people. And btw MOST people buy their cars with their own money. You wanty\ a medal or something?

  • @avngdsvnfld701 yea true, rather he wouldnt even be watching this VR6 vid he shoudlve watche da ferrari vid then if he did

  • que wey tan pendejo

  • hey dumbfuck this is a stock car.

  • VR6's don't have turbos.. 1.8's v4's have turbos

  • i know i have a turbo in my 1.8 but thats the difference they always say that the vr6 is faster and better but really its not the only reason ppl buy them is because they want the badge, sound, and they get to say " i have a vr6 " oooooooooooo soooo impressive but compaired to a guy that sais " i have a 1.8t " but i have a v6 ohh but i have a turbo...... i win!!!!!

  • Err, a VR6 is faster than a 1.8T. All a turbo will does is suck in more air, unless you're at a higher altitude, the VR6 will win. It has about 20 extra horsepower, stock.

  • Comment removed

  • Ya, it's probably hard to afford a quality German car when you're that illiterate.

  • Comment removed

  • @girblee

Lmao, $90k/year is hardly "set for life" dude. Its clear you don't make anything near that so stop posing and grow up

  • @sacdude20 90k a year is pretty damn good.

  • @sacdude20 ROFLLL the guy is an idiot saying he makes 90k a year he probly has 30k net clean in his pockets once income taxes come and all that shit lol plus payments.... maybe 15k left lol not much to brag about

  • @emopope Thats false i own a 2001 jetta wolfsburg edition 1.8T(stock) and i pulls a Vr6 from 0-60. The Vr6 does have 20 more it weighs more than a 1.8T and on top of that 1.8T engine is designed for low end torque for acceleration,1,750-4,200 rpm, where as the Vr6 is rated at 3,200 RPM. So the 1.8T is quicker in acceleration from 0-60. Im not hating just saying

  • @187dreday

    Ever hear of turbo lag

  • @MrSamuelMarley 1.8T's dont have lag bc the turbo is small

  • @187dreday ya well i walk stage 3 1.8t apr chipped gti's in my mazdaspeed3

  • lol no the vr6 has way more potential than the 1.8 will ever have, thats the point. plus u havent heard about the sludge problems in these engines??? i hope ur using synthetic if not ur shit isnt gonna last. why do u think they stop making it and replaced it with the 2.0???? ur a moron

  • @edawg305 o so no hate comment or anything but, i ave a 97 VR^ i shud be using Synthetic ol!!>?!>!>>!???? man then that could be part of the problem of my car it someimtes randomly stops running shit!??
