"Putz" is also a portuguese expression from Brazil, which is where this dude (who happens to be my friend) is from....

It's a derivative of "puta" and "puta que o pariu", which expresses surprise, shock, frustration, dismay and disbelief...

I just can't think of any English equivalent, maybe something like - "oh my", "woah", I don't know, help me out

As an informative note, 'puta' means 'bitch' not only in portuguese, also in spanish and italian, i think.
