  • i love my xdm-9 and yes i am about to say this i like it better than the glock 17 gen 4 or any 9mm glock

  • up until 1968 when those infamous "Saturday Night Specials" extremely cheap and low quality .38 revolvers appeared on America's meaner streets the F.B.I. reported that from 1920 to 1960 the caliber most often and most likely to be involved in a FATAL shooting was......... the toy, the popgun caliber .22.When I hear people call .22 weapons "toys" I either snicker or cringe depending on the circumstances. Assassins use .22's ,so does the Mafia SHOT PLACEMENT is the key not caliber.

  • both of u guys are wrong. its not a 19 round clip. its a 19 round magazine

  • That is a nice gun, I should say.

  • @Zeke8762 hahaha i noticed that too, good review though.

  • I just bought this gun at a pawn shop and I am stoked about taking it to the range. I hope it was worth the money I paid.

  • @4x12 it's a 19 round clip

  • btw, its a 16 not 19 load clip

  • @4x12 Its a 19 clip and one in the chamber.

  • @Zeke8762 thx. my error.

  • @4x12 nope this is the xdm retard. get ur facts rite u shouldnt even be allowed to breathe dipshit. go kill urself

  • @jackattackx5225 STFU you inbred piece of shit.... its a simple fucking mistake and other more civilised people already corrected me on my error you cumeater.

So hows about using one of your guns in tha back shed a yours and blow your dipshit brains to hell.

  • @4x12 btw, sorry about my mistake.... I was confusing the XDm 4.5" .40S&W version with the 9mm. The .40S&W does have 16 round clips.

  • I want this gun....

  • Man when it all comes down to it a handgun isn't the best for for home defense chances r u will miss with the first few shots. So I think I would just go with a shotgun no matter how scared u our u won't miss a 15yard shot!!! God forbid u have to make a choice like that anyway...

  • It shouldn't matter what caliber you use if a .22 pistol can take down somebody and you know where to aim. Right?

  • @cybertek3188 Its one of the deadliest. You can put a .22 in someones shoulder, and it could bounce off his shoulder blade, travel down his torso, hit some organs, and pop out his big toe. Bigger calibers will just fly right through, even if they hit bone.

  • I agree, stopping power is a concept of shooter and ammunition. Yes a 45 will put a hole in some one. But so will a .22. The issue you must deal with in "stopping" power is LIABILITY. If you use a weapon for home defense, you are liable if that bullet travels through someone and strikes someone else. You must think about this. You can take down anyone with a .22 if you know where to aim. It's no different than boxing.

  • 9mm is just as good as a 40. Get 9mm hyrda shol ammo. Hands down better than a 40.

  • Im gonna get one of these pretty soon... It'l be my first handgun too!!

  • Blah blah blah...quit arguing! The deadliest gun in America? The. 22. Look it up.

  • @2112iscoming a .22 is bullet caliber, not a gun.

  • @2112iscoming maybe, but it does not have immediate stopping power, and in a home invasion etc a .22 is not what you want to have.

that's why i went with the 1911 chambered in 45acp, Ammo - 230 grain Hornady TAP (Tactical Application Police) JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point)

It's a nice round but not cheap 20 round box 37.99 (PA)

i put a box through the firearm to make sure the gun can feed and extract properly. (of course it did it's high Quality ammo (:

    happy safe shootin.

  • 9mm is for pussies who can't shoot.

  • @MrSHIZZLE4u not bad for target shooting on a budget though

  • HOW IS THE RECOIL

  • @nebula25x it was just an expression...relax

  • @nebula25x You speak truth, and that applies to many people out there if not most. I however shoot better with a .45 when I am shooting a full size 1911. My carry gun is an operator that weighs 42oz's, I have never had an issue with muzzle flip or getting back on target with a .45 any more than I do with a 9, to be honest I can hardly tell a difference in the recoil. It's just a personal thing but I prefer my .45 with a 10 round mag. What you say makes sense though.

  • @nebula25x What are the other reasons? I am just curious.

  • this guy is an idiot

  • a 9mm will get the job done all the same as a 40 or a 45. might not "knock someone down" as quickly but whats important is that it will neutralize your threat. i'd choose a 9mm over a 40/45 any day.

(not that i don't like a 40 or a 45, i'm just annoyed to see that no one trusts 9mm anymore as a defense caliber)

  • @XxGLOCK45CALxX I have no problem with a 9mm in fact I own a couple myself including the XDM but why would anyone choose a 9 over a .45 when it comes to self protection?

  • @XxGLOCK45CALxX I mean I know the 9mm is cheaper and easier to find ammo for but all you have to do is buy one box of well trusted, superior hollow points and keep a couple mags loaded, use the .45 for home defense then have the 9mm's for range and target practice/shooting. Thats what I do.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI i agree, a 45 is probably a better choice for home defense, given the fact that drywall is practically paper to a 9mm, but i'd still carry it. and use it for the range of course.

  • @XxGLOCK45CALxX cheaper ammo, higher capacity of ammo in the mag. this isn't to say that i don't like the 45; i always take the chance to shoot one when i hav the opportunity, but you shoot what works best for you and for me, it's 9mm

  • It's never the gun only the shooter. Bullets go were you put them.

  • @bmarcussr21 Spoken like someone who has never shot a Ruger Mini 14. ;)

  • According to your own admission, you only have shot "a couple guns before in your life" however you made a comment regarding 9 mm having less stopping power than a .40 S & W... Do you know what S & W stand for regarding the .40 cal? "Small and Weak" .40 S & W is basically a 10 mm watered down. Modern bullet design has made 9 mm and .40 S & W for all practical purposes almost identical.

  • @paraAA82 How can you say "S&W" stands for small and weak... (other than a lame attempt at humor) when the 9 is indeed smaller round. A hot +p load of 9mm is about as good as the softest .40 load... i'm not bashing the 9mm, I own several and I am not saying they wouldn't kill someone, I think the 9 is a very combat proven cartridge but the .40 and of course .45 are better for self protection.

  • Do you know that the gun produced in Croatia? For the U.S. military and the police?

  • I'd rather have 20 chances to hit my target(s)... I'm a believer in more is better... many people are a believer in bigger is better... but as mentioned in another comment... if you train right... you should only need one shot...

  • My frist too.

  • All that aside: sod all the 'stopping power' crap, a round is a round and at the end of the day that hits you then it's lights out regardless of how big it is

  • reading through these comments has left me under the impression that TheMolysProject and the4armedmonk are married....they certainly argue like a married couple

  • how many times has anyone been "given a choice" on what to get shot with?

Any caliber will do if you will do.

I'm a trauma surgeon and have seen plenty of dead people shot with everything from .22 to .38. So 9mm, .40, .45 A center mass shot/head shot works with any caliber.

    people arguing like religious nuts...

  • nice pistol, i bought the two tone .40 3.8 it hits a bit harder but i think the 9mm was a good choice you could probably put more rounds on target faster with it.

dont like the stock holster though

  • Stopping power with pistol's cartridges is a MYTH.

  • @TheMolysProject 44 magnum

  • @the4armedmonk It's a velocity thing...or better said, a LACK of.

  • @TheMolysProject my 44magnum cartridge goes about 1500 fps and about 1.1k ft/lbs vs 500 ft/lbs with the 9mm and 1400 fps

  • @the4armedmonk "You take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe." - The Matrix

  • @TheMolysProject lol oh really?

  • @godlessworld08 Keep being ignorant, you are not worth my effort!!!

  • @TheMolysProject keep being insulting, pistols do have stopping power calling me ignorant seems a bit much to assume from my asking really lol stopping power is referring to energy transfered to the target all pistols have stopping power, whether that power is enough to actually stop someone in his tracks is another story, you use the weapon well and it will stop them, believe me.

  • Yeah taking out the back straps in a task im telling you from doing my own. However once its done its is a plus. I love my XDM .40

  • Also FYI hollow points are not illegal in fact I carry them in both my 9mm for my H&K p30 and my little bersa 380 I prefer Hornady and cor-Bon learn to use google before you speak about things you have no clue about

  • @Michaeljr215 your a PA swat officer? Sorry to tell you this, but to become swat or any kind of police officer you need to have a college education and I'm guessing by your grammar and spelling errors you are a uneducated thug exactly like what you say you are not.....

  • Wow... Every comment is like a paragraph... To wordy for me.

  • @name177 That is exactly why they say, "people who read more, understand more".

  • my buddy was a glock fanboy until he got his hands on one of these babies! these xdm's are the shit, the real deal... these are the next best thing, i don't think glocks come close to XDM. XDM's match grade barrel, sleek grip almost like a 1911, 19 + 1 capacity right out of the box, your hammer and chamber indicator, these guns are just beast

  • xd dont a bad gun at all but gloc is still the best dont ever drop you xd and get nice scratches on it, it will rust all over from moister.. gloc all pours are sealed on gun and can never rust.. this may seem like i favoring gloc but im not but gloc 20 (10mm) is one of the greatest guns i ever owned i own 197 firearms...lol own xd models too but hate the rust factor.. and it is a very cheap layout if you know how it is really made..

  • The 9mm vs .40 argument is pointless. I am in the army and a lot of soldiers complain about our Beretta 9mm service pistols. The reason our 9 does not have good stopping power is the rounds we are forced to use due to the Hague convention. A 9mm full metal jacket round is not a man stopper. However, if you load your XDM 9 with proper hollow points, it is very effective and very easy to shoot in a stressfull situation and easier to practice with. The best round is the one that hits the bad guy.

  • @jrvalles where can you even find 9mm. hollow points I thought they where illegal? cop killers isent that what they where called?

  • @MrMixedGas No. Hollow points aren't the "cop killers" of the 90's. In fact, hollow points are LESS useful against a target wearing body armor because they have inferior penetration. YOu can find hollow point ammunition at any store that sales pistols. Even walmart carries them in a small selection. The "cop killers" were said to be Teflon coated bullets. The Teflon was suppose to help get through armor, which is doesn't, nor was it intended to. Check Wikipedia for Black Talon to read about it.

  • @jrvalles no they are cop killers in philadelphia.. 5 cases when a cop got hit in leg, arm, wrist,, hollow tipps bounce around.. my partner shot a dude w. a 9mm in leg came out side of the dudes neck and ripped all his organs open.. dude was dead on scene.. btw im in philadelphia swat.. lol dont want anyone thinking im a junky or a thug lol

  • @Michaeljr215 Ummm, yeah, thats BS. You're probly a 12 year old kid, not a cop. LOL

  • @MrMixedGas no hollow points are illegal for pistols they are bullets w. needle point, they are illegal in pa is all i know not for all.. they cut though armor like a knife and hollow tipps are bullets that when on impact on body they rip through and bacissly the explode in you body metal or whatever type of bullet made of brakes to pieces and cuts up open.

  • i see a lot of comments on here 9mm vs 40 cal. listen the 40 does have a bigger round so yes one round has more knockdown power but if you get into a bad situation a double tap from a 9mm is way more effective and since a 9mm will usually have less recoil you can get the double tap off much faster. and practicing is way way cheaper

  • @happybirthday0981 the 40 caliber is a high pressure round, and will tear up a barrel much faster than the 9mm. It is actually a 10mm Kurtz, and was only made so the FBI didn't look like dumbasses and could blame the bullet and not their poor training.

  • i paid $7.42 in Maryland!

  • To me it's almost impossible to choose between 9mm and 40cal. I mean 9mm is cheaper ammo and higher capacity. But you trade stopping power. If you buy the proper rounds, that can help with stopping power.

I choose the glock 23 but I'm wondering if I should have bought the 19. I could get in more practice with the cheaper rounds.

There's to much to consider between 40cal and 9mm. Atleast it's one of those choices were you can't go wrong either way.

  • I hate noob reviews.

  • @AKSKSMAN No one forced you to watch. Go play now.

  • @AKSKSMAN I'm sorry... but when you say "noob" in a legitimate gun review.. you sound like some kid who just got done playing Xbox

  • I'd prefer a 40cal over the 9mm. I wish my Dept would trade our Glocks for the XMD 40cal.

  • Pistol HS-9 as the most successful product of the Croatian military industry, products, company's important HS Product from Karlovac. HS is a gun semiautomatic pistol, which is sold under the name HS-9, HS-40, HS-45 (the number represents the caliber designation) on the Croatian market and markets outside the U.S., while the U.S. market sold under the name Springfield Armory "eXtreme Duty or XD-X (X is also a mark caliber).

  • I highly doubt you shot that from 45 yards, with that grooping maybe 45 feet.

  • @Brenton63 yeah he said he meant feet if you see in the little info box

  • Some places sell off roster guns in Cali. They just convert the gun to single shot and extend the barrel.

  • You'll find on the back of the case a sticker that says "Not legal in California." This can have to do with the mag sizes or special sights or any other special part of the gun that doesn't meet regulations there. Springfield sales an XD SP line that uses 10 round mags that can go to California.

  • Its so gay, the state of california does not sell Xdm models. Can anyone tell me why?

  • @jebookey are you serious? you can't get a xdm in california? are you certain? because i was gonna order one this week for a birthday present to myself.

i can still buy a regular xd though correct?

  • @HumboldtHeadbanger Yeah i was at Turners picking my Xd up, i also asked the dude about the xdm and if i can purchase it. he then stated that the XDm did not make the list of DOJ approved guns, because of a drop test? and number of rounds in a magazine, because you can only have 10.

  • @jebookey Liberals

  • A rule of thumb, i just got my Springfield XDM, that extra safety on the back handle, after frequent use becomes very annoying. I had to tape mine down. I suggest you get a good feel for this handgun before you buy. It is a bit awkward in some respects, compared to other brands on the market.

  • i would like to have this gun more than anything, i am very sad i cant buy gun here where i am. sorry for bad english

  • How much did you buy it for and where? Thanks.

  • "doesn't have the stopping power of a 40" Learn about trigger management and modern loads.

  • @DoworkLT Trigger management increases stopping power? I'll assume you meant shot placement... Oh, and the .40S&W had more stopping power than the 9mm, even +P. And when you're talking expanding ammunition, bigger bullets expand even more, causing more tissue damage, which equals a faster drop in blood pressure, which stops the badguy faster. 9mm has a bunch of strengths over the .40 too (Capacity, Price, Etc), but stopping power aint one of them.

  • @DoworkLT it doesn't have the stopping power of a 40 thats a fact, thats why almost every cop in this country carrys a 40 or 45. iv seen several vids just here on youtube of cops shooting druged out wackos 10 15 times and still dont go down without a fight.

  • @greygoosevodka1 that is true only to people who do not reload 9mm. a full loaded 9mm will exceed the power of any .40s&w you can buy and a hot load .40s&w has less then 20ftlbs of energy more, but its also known that .40s&w is less accurate, you have the disadvantage of less rounds, and 9mm is a lot cheaper to practice with. and the more someone is going to go practice the better they will be in a hostel situation so anyway you look at it 9mm is far superior to the .40short&weak.

  • holy fuck 612 i could get this same gun for 509 before taxes. but im buying a glock 19.

  • XDM is a nice weapon, but it looks hideous. the original XD looks much better

  • @joeratti Kinda just looks like a Glock..

  • @back2schoolfool a lot of newer handguns do it seems. all good designs though.

  • typical piece of Croatian produced weapon, not bad.

  • Great start for first gun.

  • lol :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Are you sure about 45 yds? That's getting into Rifle distance. Possibly 45 ft? That is excellent for 45 yds with a handgun. Especially a beginner shooter.

  • how is the bore axis height on the XDM compared to the XD?

  • My first was an XD9. Good gun, with a litttle practice I can put a whole mag rapid fire into an 8" target at 25'. It's ironic, but you want to make a couple shots really count in a self defense situation so you don't get sued because you used "excessive force."

  • haha sweet been wanting a gun for ages but dont think i can get one in the uk

  • springfield xdm is a copy of the Glock 17

  • Comment removed

  • @Jabe732 Actually, no. You wouldn't say that if you were actually familiar with the two guns.

  • @Jabe732 and thats a good thing because glocks are boring.

  • @Jabe732 the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life. I love glocks hence my screen name but trust me this gun is better than the glock 17. not durability wise but shootability it is. The glock 17 is also about 3 ounces lighter i do believe

  • Made in Croatia and imported in USA as Springfield XD.

  • You load up on Winchester Ranger T ammo; 19 rounds of that and you'll have all the "stopping power" ever needed. Center mass and face, head shots, all about shot placement.

  • there is ABSOLUTELY NO FUCKING WAY IN HELL you did that from 45 yards, ROFLMFAO! lies lies lies

  • @Viper00420 check out hickok45 he shoots at targets far as 200+ yards with pistols with Fairly good accuracy.

  • 45 yds? So ur telling me u were that accurate ur 1st time shooting the gun from 135 feet?

  • @jcquadracing there is ABSOLUTELY NO FUCKIN WAY you did that from 45 yards, rofl, why even say that, first off, what fuckin range do you know of where you can even shoot a pistol from 25 yards away, roflmfao retards

  • @Viper00420 check out hickok45 he shoots at targets far as 200+ yards with pistols with Fairly good accuracy.

  • nice job with the target, my first pistol was a Springfield XD Sbcmpt 9mm, it was a very accurate handgun too, great choice for a first pistol

  • Thanks. Nice review. I like the fact you admit you are new to shooting and didn't try to BS.

  • I've never heard of a belt holder... I mean I've heard of holsters and magazine pouches.

  • nice review im getting one and selling one of my sigs...:)

  • always clear ur chamber before handling it bud. i can tell your new with firearms. play it safe always. nice choice the match grade is worth the extra money over a plain xd.

  • I watched this video on an iphone (no annotations) and I was thinking "those are some insane groups at 25 yards for a first timer!!". Now I understand.... 25 FEET lol

  • Just got one as well... Are the sights adjustable on the xdm? I have been shooting down and to the left about 4 inches.

  • @bmpscot40 You're right handed aren't you? I can guarantee you are just jerking when you pull the trigger.(even though you may not be able to tell) I was positive I needed to adjust my sights when I first got my glock 17.....then I learned how to squeeze the trigger correctly. Don't worry it's normal to experience this.

  • @bmpscot40 They are supposed to be adjustable. It is a competition pistol designed around target shooting. Try shooting it from a vice or bench. the more stability you have to test with the better your results should be. Also try an indoor range to cut out wind variation in the shots.

  • Jewish...

  • pretty much the same thing you get with.......ALL calibers

  • NICE!!!!!!!!!

  • I own the same pistol. Excellent choice for a first gun, especially since this was my first as well.

  • nice grouping

  • My bro is a cop and he's saying this gun is just TOP TOP notch ....comparable to a clock but you get much more with it...

  • your typo made me laugh, lol.

  • @policedude54

Are you calling me a comedian ? Funny... how am I funny... do I amuse you like a clown ? How am I funny ? haha just kidding...

  • are glock and xd equally good performance wise. thats what i see in most comments

  • yes.

Glock fanbois will say no, but they are. The only, and I mean ONLY things I liked better about a 21 I may or may not have possessed than my XD is that the glock felt a little safe carrying with one in the pipe, and the metal coating owned.

Im not talking them down...glock has fanbois for a reason; they are very very very good. If you are going to be lousy about maintenance, you could not purchase a finer gun.

The XD is and evolutionary step, IMO, and dollar for dollar a better value.

  • yes. its a matter of preferences. both great performing pistols

  • so i will just go with xdm...its more stylish :)

  • @boonedfg it's not all a matter of prefference... take your glock apart and take an XD apart. The recoil rods in the XD are steel construction. And the Slide Rails are also steel. Glocks are Plastic. Plain and simple. So in terms of longevity the Springfield is the winner. I'm about to purchase one. Just can't decide on the .40 or the 9mm

  • @FunktasticLucky The glocks slide rails are steel reinforced so truthfully they are about even. Ive fired both the XD 40 and a Glock 22. I was impressed by both guns performances. Accurate firing and no failures to function. i tihkn it boils down to preference here really.

  • anyone help? adjustable sights?

  • awesome, my wife just got approved to pick hers up can't wait to see how it performs, thanks for the info and video bro!!

  • this is a great wep....just wish they would get rid of the made in Croatia on the grip.

  • why should they??

    its croatian wep

  • Why that's bothers you?

It's a NATO country that hat really serious war on it's own soil for 5 full years.

And we are talking mainly infantry/armour war.

We know how to make infantry weapons.

  • Maybe the 9mm is slighly underpowered but hit definately has its strengths. They give you an inexpensive round to practice, lots of capacity, and with a good hollow point plenty of stopping power. You just have to know what your doing. Its called a double tap, try it. That is why Swat teams everywere use the H&K MP5 9mm and the Glock 18 9mm.

  • This is flat out inaccurate. Placement is the issue. Stop spreading FUD.

  • Actually 9mm is not a very weak pistol, you get on average 3 more rounds and the matter displacement from a 9mm compared to a 40 is only about a 5% difference. Which by the naked eye you can't notice. A .45 will not put anyone on their ass, in fact most rifles don't even "drop" people. Considering most bullets only weight a few grams. The energy transfered to a person is used penetrating and not "knocking down." There are reported cases of men taking up to 20 .40's and still keep attacking.

  • My main point is its not what you hit them with, its more where you hit them. .22's in center mass are notorious for killing because they bounce around. But put them against the skull and they tend to deflect.

There are too many misconceptions about guns. The worst thing people can do is spout off their uneducated opinions just to sound cool.

  • Good Point brother, you just need to know what your doing to keep yourself and your loved ones safe, again Awesome Point, Thanks!

  • @MikeG11986 You're sort of right... .22's generally pass right through the body without causing much damage. You're thinking of skull shots. A .22 has enough energy to penetrate one skull wall but not the other. This makes the it pinball around inside the skull, severely damaging the brain.

  • @MikeG11986

I do agree with any bullet can kill with ideal shot placement, but people who say that a 9mm round will "lack stopping power" clearly haven't done their homework. It has a poor defense record because people buy the cheapest ammo they can. Buy good ammo and it will perform good. 800 mph velocity, 100% weight retention and expansion to the same diameter as a 12 gauge slug. This round has the potential to be a heavy hitter and people just don't realize it.

  • @MikeG11986 I don't want to get hit with anything, quite frankly. But if someone held up a .22 and a .45 and it was my choice? Please shoot me with the .22!

  • @CorruptArsenal how many guys have you emptied half a mag into that fired back?

  • You paid $612 for that I got my for $450. New

  • LEO/MIL???

  • @triggerhappynavyseal

No you didn't. Not new and not an XDM. I paid the exact same amount ($612) for mine out-the-door. It was around $580 before tax. Lowest price I have found. Unless you blew the FFL dealer, I don't see how you could possibly get it for $450.

  • good choice. i think that if the shit hit the fan, 9mm would be one of the easiest rounds to find.

  • how much tweaking did you have to do to the sights?

  • i bought a XD when i was in TX. however, i really want the XDM. Too bad they don't sell it in Ma., cause i would have definitly bought this.

  • great choice as your cherry.

  • i love my springfield xd sc 40..BUT i got a little hand and the ruger sr9 has a skinnier grip..thats my next purchase..

    have a blast man

  • Damn i want one. It would also be my first gun.. Whats the price differnce from the 9mm from the .40?? I was planning getting the 9mm but if its a small differnce in price i might just go for the .40.. I live in Florida btw can someone help me out where to buy thanks...

  • very happy with my xdm 40.... 2000 plus rounds through her no jams or misfire. paid 590

  • wow, i love this gun but got fucked on the price at about $750 from Gander Mtn. ... anyways I've put about 2000 rounds through this gun in about 2 months, and never had a jam... just bought some "Wolf" brand 9mm rounds, and found that the bullet is actually too long. it was a pain to put the rounds in the mag, and they were so tight that the spring wouldnt push a new round to the top of the mag. But i love this gun, every Glock shooter I shoot next to wants to shoot my XDM

  • There is a Gander Mtn. in my area that was selling it for $699 but i went to gun show and called around and got it for 590 out the door. yes great gun love it!

  • who buys anything from gander mountain

  • Haha, wow. They should have tossed in some magazines, boxes of ammo, and some whores for that price. It's a fine gun all the same. I might be picking one up. Either that or an M&P. My Glocks are getting loney.
