Ok just to correct a bunch of people the words and the original of this song is by Son House the one by Blind Willie Johnson came first but has different some different verses.
They are both good versions and this one is ok also.
The horns are great, but there is a strippe down version on one of the early albums. Just vocals, drums, allen woody on a dulcimer and him on slide. It's awesome. This is a good version, though.

The horns are great, but there is a strippe down version on one of the early albums. Just vocals, drums, allen woody on a dulcimer and him on slide. It's awesome. This is a good version, though.

This guy does have a good voice. Think Dave Gahan's version is better, though this guy's voice probably gives Dave's a run for it's money.

Curtis Stigers is the one who performed the cover on SOA, to be exact; according to Sutherland or whoever produced the show, Stigers is also the person who sang the theme-song to the show.

The one at the end of that particular episode of SOA is done by Stigers & The Forrest Rangers, like others have said. This does sound just like it, as do most of the copies of this song, this is a very good version to!
