there is a field beyond good and bad I will meet you there- Rumi Is what Sufism is not what is in subcontinent today which is really religious dogmas taking shelter under the shade of Sufism. Sufis are like Khwaja Gharib nawaz that were beyond judging all together. Judgement is from the mind and sufism and qalandars revolve around the heart- the soul.

Sufism is not Islam. So called sufi dance Wajd is Haram in Islam. Our prophet never did it and neither did he call upon his Umma to do so. This is self made Islam by the sufis.
@uzzamh That is the dancer Ava Farhang of the Badila Ensemble - she is definitely a woman, not a eunuch, and she is from a Sufi Kurdish-Iranian family.
Spirituality is beyond this body and clothes. Only art, music and dance is the closest to that ....thats the only place where man is not ruling, so let the women free for that .....
most things in sufism is against islam...such as singing, dancing like maniacs, black magic and
asking their so called saints for help which is shirk....and as muslims we know that shirk is the only sin that is unforgivable without repentance... follow the Qu ran and sunnah...so u will succeed in this life and hereafter...
@ateea go to hell, everyone can worship the way they want, wahabism destryoed the muslim world before u react analyze, if u still dont see it take a deep breath and you will see it soon enough
clearly this videographer was a man ... he kept focusing on her face ! I prefer the long shots to watch the dance ! But , Good video thanks for posting !
Sufism is all over the Muslim world, its kind of mystical, and its also has some hyretical elements to it aswell, me personally, I dont agree with it, but I like some of the things they say, Pakistan has alot of Sufi culture.
this is dedicated to a famous sufi saint Shahbaz Qalandar. The rendition and dance is in the sufi style of Islam. The singer and dancer are trying to invoke the blessings of God.
It is not Turkish. It is Urdu and Punjabi Sufi Qawwali (poetic song) very popular in the sub continent. Has been sung by Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, Christians people of all faith.
The dance by the girl in open hair and without hijab in front of men is not part of Sufi tradition.
The Sufi tradition originated in the Baghdad Caliphate and today exists pretty much wherever Muslims live today. The song itself is in Sindhi, and Indian/Pakistani language, and in the Indian Sufi tradition. The dancer is a dervish, in the Turkish Sufi tradition.
Not everyone can be fantastic at a skill. But effort and respect helps even beginners and those who watch them learn and spread worthwhile culture. Better a sincere attempt than inhibited withdrawal. I'm sure if you recommend a better site everyone would appreciate it.
sufi dance is about pure soul.this is bit erotic.you can not have no even a tiny erotism in sufi dance. nanaki ...she is imitating sufi dance with a bit erotism. muslims dont like that and find it disrespectful.
@krvnsry The problem is, there is no black and white definition of Sufism in the Sub-Continent. Everyone who wants to avoid practicing Islam but called Muslim calls himself Sufi. That includes hash smokers who have no idea what Islam is, let alone sufism. That is the reason Wahhabies distainfully refers to Sufies as pot smoking grave worshippers.
The only reason Sufis adopted music in India was because they found Hindus to understand the language of music only, but this is absolute disgrace.
Im not a muslim but i have found nothing offensive about this video. I think its a great song with the most captivating meaningful words and from what i understand dance and music is the only and only way to lose yourself to God, Allah, Waheguru, Bhagwan or whatever you fancy. Lets be human and stop looking at things so critically always.
Its beautiful shes not afraid to show her love of the lord, be it that she is dancing in front of men, if there men of god they will only see the beauty nothing more.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
there is no need for the woman to dance in front of everyone if Ali (may ALLAH be pleased with him) was there he would have pronounced death penalty for this unislamic act that she is performing
You just owned all the anti-feminist losers commenting on this. Thanks very much for saving me the anger and tension of replying to some of these fools.
sufism has allowed people of all religons to live together, and people are returning to it after realising that extremist forms of islam like salafiyyah dont work and arent a natural state to be in. however i do disagree with a woman spinning infront of men, but im not judging them, im sure their intentions are pure.
This is not sufism (tasawwuf) - it is haraam. Just singing and dancing. Rumi calls false sufis faggots. Also, tasawwuf is not a type of Islam but an essential science of The Deen. Sufism without shariah is heresy and shariah without sufism is hypocrisy.
Junaid Baghdadi(R.A) said! Tareeqat(sufism) witout Shariah is a devlish thing.Sufism is all about clarity of heart and purity of soul. Now a days in the name of sufism just spreading falsehood and devlish things in shape of sufi music and seductive dances and people who don't know anything about sufis and sufism appreciate them only because of different music.
My sisters and i used to do this at home, then get dizzy and fall onto the sofa laughing as the room would spin.We could only take it for about a minute.Ha!So God knows how she must be feeling after so long?! Mad!!
MMM... I have a different argument, I myself a Muslim and the heritage of south asia.
Historically sufisim is a type in Islam, normally practised in egypt or Morocco (quiet low nowadays) but it is one of the types. Some historical books internationally and religiously say sufism were the first muslims to set onto South Asia. Some still practise this in those countries.
Muslims consists of SUNNI/SHIAH/WAHABI & SUFI
Just like Christianity, whom also link with catholic and Protestants.
i thought in islam it was forbidden for women to show flesh and to do this sort of thing, nice way to take a quali from nusrat fateh ali khan and destroy what his meaning of the quali ment.
Dommage que nous ne voyons pas les musiciens, les voir jouer de leurs instruments et chanter...Quand à moi la danseuse ne fait que tournoyer sur elle-même...étourdissante...et pas beaucoup d'expressions corporels avec ces instruments frappés...

sufism is a mystic form of islam
sufism has brought people in sub continent towards islam, so saying sufism has no religion......
partly sufism is good, and is according to islam, but crossing the boundary too much mysticism can lead to shirk, and things that are not islamic.

Sharia law is an exaggeration that completely defies True Islam and indoctrinates the man made Hadith.
