Funny you should insist that you need to have an Acne face infection to have empathy for someone. I have never had Acne in my life and I feel empathy for teenagers that suffer from this due to infection and other causes.

My wife suffers from Chronic pain due to a work accident and I feel empathy for her but I have never had chronic pain.

I have worked with disabled people since 1982 and I'm fine and have empathy ??

These people keep saying, "It's my own fault. I don't have anybody to blame but myself" but it clearly isn't their own fault alone. And even if it was, in societies with more social services and more affordable job training, housing, and education than the US has, they wouldn't need to be homeless at all, whether they're at fault or not. It's sad to hear that so many of them have so deeply absorbed the US mantra of "personal responsibility" that they are constantly blaming themselves.

@RETIREMESOON I don't think most people have empathy for people like this. Maybe sympathy, but certainly not empathy. I'm still a high-school student but what I notice the most is that those vulnerable are picked on the most, especially guys. Like people with extreme acne, hair problems, or weight issues. I know, and I'm ashamed, I call a kid who has extreme acne problems and a unibrow "Puberty" because he's all the horrors of puberty put into one boy...

@RETIREMESOON I find it hard to believe all that. Empathy is defined as: (n.) the intellectual identification with or vicarious experiencing of the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of another. Otherwise, being able to relate to someone in there situation because you have also been in that same situation. I learned empathy in 8th grade when reading To Kill a Mockingbird. I have sympathy for Tom, but certainly not empathy, for I have never been homeless.

A person that wrote a book about the concentration camps said that the route of evil is a lack of empathy.

Bullies have caused MANY of the school shootings so I wanted this school bully to know that his behavior can get his friends killed.
