my grandfather gave my dad a box full of really old baseball cards, and one of them is a wagner t206 1911 card...how much is it worth? it's in perfect condition since he never played with them.
One thing he's wrong about the Ruth rookie there were several Ruth Cards available in the 1920's and a few from before. The Goudy was not by any means his rookie card.
Check out the ruth e120 or the different strip cards like the 1923 w514 great card & affordable.
what about the 1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth Rookie Card there are many recources that say a mint condition card could sell for the mid 1.5 to 3 millions as well as a mint babe ruth rookie card sold for 517 thousand dollars
I have a babe ruth card that is completely gold it has a bunch of statistics on the back of the card and has his year he was born and all that does anybody know how much it is worth
Ruth's Rookie card is the Baltimore News issue followed by the Sporting News issue in a Boston Red Sox uniform. There are 4 1933 Goudeys and a 1935 Goudey issued late in his career.
There is a Babe Ruth card from when he was with the Baltimore Orioles that sold for $250,000. From 1914, I believe, issued by a local newspaper. Can't remember any more details, but that's his real rookie (first) card.
I know your comment is old, but you are right. I think it was a Baltimore Herold issue. You should check out Robert Edward auctions on google if you want to see some pretty elite cards.
looking at Robert Edward's website, I see a poor condition 1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth card sold in 2009 for $152,750 and a VG in 2008 sold for $517,000.
ah no problem just wanted to find out i gots tons of even older cards from the 50s 60s and 70s i even got a bunch from the 30s just wanted to find out about my kirby puckets
@MongoStylin Its actually because they were mass produced and so common! Example: If I wanted a Barry Bonds or Griffey Jr rookies all i have to do is buy a fe packs or a box of 1987 Topps and 1989 Donruss and I would get those cards. Today, if I wanted say a 2008 Bowman Chrome Evan Longoria rookie, I might have to buy 1-3 boxes of 2008 Bowman Chrome to get it!
micky mantel was a rookie in 1950, he had a 1951 boxman card which is his true rookie card. the 1952 topps is called his rookie card, but is in fact just his first topps card that he appears on.
he is right that ruth does have "rookie" cards in the 1933 goudey set from the 30's but he actually has 2 other cards that date back further, the 1916 sporting news card; one of which sold at auction for 100,000 dollars and an even scarcer one from 1914 (his earliest known card)

did I just see that babe ruth card in a toploader? ever heard of a screwdown
Dielonthug 2 years ago
@Dielonthug Screwdowns can damage the edges of the cards if there is no recessed area.
chibbz23 1 year ago
@chibbz23 fine, then get a thicker case with a recessed area, toploaders for thousand dollar cards are rediculous.
Dielonthug 1 year ago
@Dielonthug You're right on that one. I would definitely get it graded
