exceptional music, this is simply wonderful!! i Love REggae, but this kind of reggae, nowadays that nasty thing called reggaetown is giving another sence of what real reggae is. reggaetown is disrespect
This literally brought a tear to my eye. I have not heard these in decades. It brought me back in time to a happier, simpler time when I was in High School in Jamaica.
All this music reminds me of when my late mom used to play these songs back to back to back to back on the weekends and I knew every word to every song! Big up to u andrews813! Bless!
Yo Big Up to Fidel from back in the day...he definitely set di pace fi me as far as NY selecta's back in the day went...I think he was the first DJ i heard the "Oh my gawd...the music just turns me on!!" sample from. Used to have his mixes all over Jamaica Ave and at VP records!! He used to spin tracks there for a min. Bless Up Fidel where eva yuh deh and VP records for growin mi reggae record collection.
I have a few of his CDs. I'll try and post them. There's a shop (don't know if it still exists) on on utica ave and eastern pkwy. in BK that sold a lot of his stuff.
I actually picked this up on utica ave. at eastern pkwy. when I lived in Flatbush. I found Fidel to have the best mixes in slow reggae, dancehall and culture. I still have a few of his cd's from the late ninety's up to 2004. Now I'm down in Tampa reminiscing of those days as well.
Oh ok, thanks. I have a friend that lives in that area so I'll ask him about it.
Yeah Fidel is definitely on point with his mixes, from his choice of tracks and their sequencing to his smooth transitions and blends. I think he sets the standard for all other NY selectas.
Thanks for uploading the rest of the CD. I'm gonna check it out right now lol.
Where did you pick up this CD from?! If it's the same DJ Fidel I'm thinking about, then I got a few of his mix tapes from the 90's. I used to drive to Jamaica Ave almost EVERY weekend to just to buy his latest mix, right next to the patty shop lol. Ah man the memories...
MAD mix!!!!!!!! Bless up!
