There's a reason Jewish women led feminist movement in both Europe & America. It's based on how the Bible made a society that conditions Jewish women to know what they are worth in the eyes of God. God Yahweh is amazing to women. Turned out he demands as Jesus to the church so men to women putting them on the highest pedestal possible.
There are more rights given to women in Torah's pentateuch than all other documents prior to 1930 A.D. summed up.
Example: a Jew wishing to marry a servant girl taken during war must give her a time of mourning prior to marriage. Should he put her away, no method will cause her death & all Israel will provide for her under the laws for widows. The man will never be capable of remarriage as she still lives. Sounds as if a Jewish man better listen to a slave girl during her time of mourning.

Quran 4:34 "Men guard & provide for women, as Allah has given one strength over the other & means to provide. Thus are righteous women always obedient & chaste when without. If you doubt their loyalty & fear ill-conduct then admonish, refuse them bed, & beat them such that they will be subservient. Then strive not with them; is not the Most High the Most High."
I love this man. He gave an excellent answer... however, I'm still bothered by Bible passages that say a woman should "submit" to men and remain silent, etc. And yet, for all of the reasons he just pointed out, it makes me wonder if those are really God's words, or if they're the sexist bias of the writer as a byproduct of living in a very anti-woman era?
@Yrhp8268 As he said, it is a matter of context. Woumen are not to submit to men, they are supposed to submit to their husband who is supposed to sacrificially love his wife. They are also supposed to mutually submit to each other. As for women being silent, they are not the only ones who are told to be silent; it dealt with the disruption of the church services. Basically, hold your questions and comments until later. There are some great commentaries on 1Cor 14 online.

Does it bother you because "submission" in our current culture has become a word synonymous with defeat and loss of worth? Is it the feminist world view of today that tells you that "submit" you shall not? If we accept that the biblical words are not the true words of God. THen we must reject the whole bible as word of men and not God. And without the bible we have no Truth.
@Yrhp8268, Don't be bothered by passages of submission. It's a curse that women are given to submit. It they submit to 1 who submits to God then they're submitting to 1 who should act as Jesus to the church. If they submit to another it's merely a curse like unto:

Go and sin no more." The Risen Christ 1st revealed Himself to women, before men. God never belittles women. He loves even me.
