  • Giving aphex twin a run for their money. ;)

  • whats with the diarrhoea fart sound at 28 seconds?

  • This was owned by ABBA wasn't it. Check out Me and I Dick Calvert show 1981.

  • @bondbug73 It still owned by Benny Andersson.

  • @RothHandle So I understand by your 10 minute demo on Youtube. Fantastic machine you have there.

  • @RothHandle It was owned by John Paul Jones before Benny and used on "In through the outdoor"

  • OMFG so great!!!!

  • Thanks for the tip ! Great stuff.

  • Not a digital synth! This thing is fully analogue!

  • not a clue

  • Thank you for your kind comment.

  • Oh god Ihope you don't think that was aimed at you am a huger admirer, love the synth so much, fantastic to hear it.

  • you r comparing digital synths to analogue which shouldnt be done but that ribbon controller is not a cheap theremin it can be used for alot more than u think

  • I use the Persephone...a lot...!

  • Ah crap, life just got hard.

    GX-1 or the CS-80 ?

Not that i'll ever own either of them, but i wasn't sure which poster to put on my bedroom wall.

  • For a poster...easily the Yamaha GX-1. You cant beat that star Trek space station look... For touring...the CS-80. You can almost move it by yourself...

  • Lol @ Star Trek Space station look. Do you get that feeling when your tweaking that you might accidently rip a hole in the space time continuum?

Ok so, a GX-1. What are my chances of finding an abandoned one in a church somewhere ?

  • Your image will rise and soar with your minty fresh GX-1. Your finances on the other side...might crash and burn.

  • Every sound on here is usable for me !

  • It really is a open ended Synth. I get the feeling that they just put in a lot of features and then thought "let the musicians figure it out...!"

    ...and the musicians did.

  • Cool stuff Roth, love your studio.

  • Thank you...! It is a nice place to spend some time...You are very welcome to drop by...! Coffee or tea ?

  • Excellent ! How did you figure it out ?

  • they call me Sherlock for a reason mate!

hm ... don't mind me, I'm just jealous.

  • Keep off the Morphine...!

  • no way! It helps me figure things out!

  • Coffee and eight hours of sleep...and then morphine perhaps ?

  • if i had a gx-1 my life would be complete.

  • My life would be complete with a glass harmonica, a bass marimba and a fully working Chamberlin. And a chain smoking bear...but for now the GX-1 will just have to do...

    Thanks for watching...!

  • It looks SF and sounds like it too. Beam me up Scotty!

  • The funny thing is that the Beat from Palookaville are a great rockabilly/ska typeband...messing with the biggest synth ever built...Its all about contrast...

  • The first sound had a "good vibrations" thereminvox quality to it.

  • Oh yes...The beach boys used a ribbon controller when they did it live...

  • This is the one used for the flute-like Abba melodies, isn't it? :o)#

  • Well...the used it a lot on the last three albums. I am not a obsessive fan so...

  • Hi

Do you know anywhere to buy this wonderful synth? I would go to the end of the world to get it!

  • A couple of years back someone tried to sell one in Australia...They were asking big bucks for it...

  • Where to buy this synth? That's like asking if you can buy a Holy Grail from the corner drug store.

"Excuse me, sir. Do you have any Holy Grails for sale?"

"Why, yes. We just got a shipment of them in today."

Of course, you could try asking Stevie Wonder to sell you one of the two he owns.

  • Have you checked at grails' r 'us ?

  • Sounds very mellotron-ish for a bit

  • The filter of the GX-1 has a sort of vocal quality I guess...

Have you seen my Mellotron films ?

  • Yes, in fact. I'm quite impressed.

  • O.k....mmm...thank you !

  • Very cool. Please, more GX-1 videos. I would love to see a video tour. Cheers

  • Thanks ...as soon it it is feeling better we'll do a full thing...
