  • Thats a little big?

  • so that is how clouds are made!

  • thats one way to light a fire

  • Double rainbow all the way

  • Care package inbound

  • when you get the fire ball is a good time to whip out the water hose

  • no more firepit.

  • should put the box in a hole in the ground perfectly dug out for it

  • the gardener will be happy :(

  • "a little big",... really?! you think?

  • i did this and it blew up in the pan and put a hole in my Kitchen and nearly burnt my house down.

  • @caribes4150 that happens A LOT

  • Greetings from Germany..

    ..but.. I have to contradict you. You tell us that it doesn't matter wether you melt it or you don't. But that isn't correct - look, you've got a huge flame which proves that the whole thing got too much oxygen. And if it burns then it doesn't smoke (..so much, as you can see). If you melt it and isolate it from oxygen, it will burn down slower with more smoke. For example: Burn a newspaper: flame + a bit smoke;

Blow the flame out: more smoke (just for visiualising)

  • @ixodidae2 @ixodidae2 too bad you're incorrect. The O3 in KNO3 is the oxygen used for combustion in the entire reaction. That's why it's used for rocket fuel and exposives. It doesn't use the outside air at all and would burn the same out in space or underwater. The problem was the smoke density being too high, making the volume seem low, because of the accelerant and wide open burning method made it burn itself up super fast. So slowing it down with baking sode would technically help.

  • looks like u needed abit more than a fire pit for it

  • holy crap good job

  • "Do not try this at home"... that of course does not include us as we are unprofessionals handling harmful substances. :)

  • i bought 3 pounds of kno3 for 12 dollars off ebay

  • i like the part with the smoke

  • Now if I did that I'd have cops FBI bomb squad ect I assume you don't have any neighbors or you let them know. Great smoke bomb by the way

  • @MrIlikegadgets well, it was July 1st in Wisconsin so there was kinda smoke everywhere from random cookouts and campfires and fireworks :-P not quite that much, as it did blanket the entire neighborhood behind me, but it was super windy with a big updraft from the quarry next door so it blew sideways and up real quick.

  • @Desolator144 that makes sense. in Fl on newyears you are surrounded by a dense cloud of smoke all night.

  • @MrIlikegadgets Making smoke 'bombs' is not illegal in the United States...they pose no real danger to anyone and are not explosive. Note that small versions are sold to even children before 4th of July (the little colored balls).

  • A little big lol

  • hahaha awesome this is the best one on the net that i could find! great vid!

  • how much did all that stuff cost?

  • @airsoftdeltaforce101 around like $30-40

  • thats a little big lol

  • @paiken21 no, that's how campfires work. The oxygen comes from the O in KNO3 so no outside air is used. This is merely an exothermic reaction so the more flame there is, the smoke smoke is being output in a shorter amount of time because the reaction is happening faster. The problem is, the smoke is thicker so it looks like less.

  • That's one helluva fire pit you got there. . .

  • hey my mix turns a creamy color not a halthy brown is this right? does it need to be cooked longer?

  • @project510 I don't recommend cooking it at all (except in really low quantities outdoors on a really controlled heat source) because of the low ignition temperature. If you do it on your stove, you WILL smoke out your entire house lol. You may have seen on Mythbusters, they used an adjustable electric heat pad to put it at a precise temperature and still ignited it and that was a couple ounces. It's virtually impossible to do like 17 pounds melted without igniting it.

  • Is the smoke dangerous or only Kno3 powder is dangerous?

  • woooow

  • i hear adding baking soda will prevent it from combusting and only produce smoke. is this true?

  • @Buddhaman4evr I'm no chemistry expert but I'm pretty sure that since it's an exothermic reaction in which the Oxygen from the KNO3 is oxidizing something from the sugar molecule, the flames are a side effect of the produced heat. If it burned slower with almost no flames, it still gave off the same amount of heat, just over more time. The smoke amount doesn't change. This isn't a normal fire where more flames = less smoke, it's a chemical reaction. But ya, baking sode slows the burn speed.

  • @Desolator144 so it slows the burn speed, but would it reduce the ammount of smoke?

  • @ebrowne369 it won't affect the mass but it will increase the volume and thus lower the density so it will appear to be more smoke if it burns slower

  • @Desolator144 i see. personally, i would use my KNO3 for flash powder lol but this looks awesome.

  • i did this but i used ten feet of 4 inch pvc tubing. i dug a two foot hole in the ground, put the tube in, and filled it in. i stood on a ladder, lit it and ran. the smoke was much more controlled. also i used a cap on the top and bottom of the tube. the top i bored a 1 inch hole and had a two foot quick burning fuse!. it was awesome!!!

  • 3:00 Now that's one god-damned huge fireball !

  • @Fabzil yeah, it burned my face slightly from about 20-30 ft away

  • you sound like ben affleck XD

  • @MrSevkebab I think all white people sound like Ben Affleck lol.

  • @Desolator144 In the description, you say "DO NOT USE STUMP REMOVER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BLOW YOURSELF UP OR POISON YOURSELF" yet, i've used stump remover for almost EVERY recipe that calls for it. Spectracide stump remover is 95% and up Kno3, available from lowes (that gets rid of shipping costs), and is around $6 a pound. Don't knock it till ya try it. (seriously, try it.)

  • @pyrosparkerII except that if that 5% is sulfur and/or carbon, you may blow yourself up. If it's basically any metal, you could cause damage to your eyes or poison yourself, and if it's complex molecules then who knows what it's going to break down into in the heat. If you're 100% sure that it's balls of KNO3 with no additives, it's safe. If it says it's the "plus" recipe or "max strength" or any variation from the original, they added something and then it's horribly unsafe.

  • oh my gosh your walk way is so stained.

  • ya im gonna use that on the battle field. fit that in a pocket, wait 20 minutes for it to go off. go through it and set on fire, loose the war

  • wow u make a flame throwin smoke bomb

  • you try that at home....... why we don't ? XD

THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE ! XD

  • @RigonMetaL1 because a bunch of you already said you lit your *insert room here* on fire lol.

  • D is for desolator....lol

  • dude amazing

    lol vid

  • lol

  • Bahaaahaha you're retarded, if you restrict oxygen flow the burn will be spread out longer and there will be a vast increase in thick smoke. Try it again! How much did that cost anyway!?!

  • @mp525 hey dumbass, the O in KNO3 is Oxygen. It contains its own oxygen so this could burn underwater if it wanted to. Surface area and how quickly it spreads is the only limiting factor, not airflow.

  • Al Gore cried alittle.

  • I like how he says that you shouldn't breath this in because it could stop your heart and then he blankets his entire neighbor hood in the junk.... awesome job there! I would hate to be this guys neighbor.

  • @Elazul2k the KNO3 powder is harmful, the smoke is not. Go back to chemistry class

  • this is a great way to get the fire department to come to your house lol

  • @Benjrubin that's why I don't melt it. It's virtually impossible to get the temperature perfect let alone not igniting it on the heating element of whatever you're using.

  • when i tried mixing it on a burner i was at school... i filled my whole HS with smoke and everyone thought there was a fire FML

  • now do you regret doing this on your nice patio?

  • @terminator0405 yes lol

  • hah u did this at home you have no right!XD

  • The first one kind of sucked. The second was pretty amazing.

  • i love how hes like "omfg dident expect that O_O" sorta thing xD

  • ... LOL you just did this at home :)

  • Check your local hydroponics shops, they carry it guaranteed

  • mini atomic bomb! haha

  • good way to get rid of the mosquitoes :) you should of added a couple lbs of baking soda to make it burn slower.

  • wow you sure have a lot of time on ur hands

  • Forget sunglasses or an awning - just light one of these up to get some shade on your back patio!

  • good fire starter =P

  • im totally gonna try this at home.

  • Only 20 birds were harmed in the making of this video

  • tactical nuke inbound

  • this guy is smart

  • W0000T!!!!

  • Do not try this at home???

By the looks of it, you did?

Nice bomb, I'm gonna try that sometime.

  • how did u powder that much kno3 or did u buy it powdered?

  • @TheEagleFalls it comes in powder form

  • @Desolator144 the kind i bought comes in small pellets so i have to powder it all by hand :P

  • ur sick

  • XD thats a little big. nice dude

  • I couldnt see teh smoke, do it again with colored smoke =D

  • you need to add some sort of inert powder that will slow the compositions combustion, like backing soda. it will help surpress the flames and also yeild more smoke.

  • omg you legend !! :)

  • you should have put in baking soda so it didnt catch fire and burn up so quickly

  • wow the fire pit was kinda useless

  • your neighbors must love you

  • lol, i light it wit my 200mw red dx laser...

  • Nice.. very nice.. Since I live on 5 acres I think I will do a 51 pound mix for the 4th of july. I will video and post as the day comes

  • Ha ha! It's like insta-shade!

  • realy big what did other ppl who lived by you say hahaha

  • ahhh these r fun to make

  • What was your ratio for the first smoke bomb

  • @rocketdude1000 the same as the 2nd one

  • idk about every one else but this made my day!

  • LMFAO

  • you need a biger fire pit...

  • Wow indeed, ha ha ha ha . Thnx man, cool clip....Laterz...

  • lol too funny loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats a good device for a hot day with too much sun. Just light up al little smokebomb, and enjoy the shade!

  • should have put some charcoal in that :)

  • @thomas242007 that wouldn't do much without also adding sulfur but anyway, I didn't want to blow up my house lol

  • that be a good video though for you to try

  • wow your neighbors must just love you

  • A W E S O M E !!!

  • THIS IS MADNESS!!!

  • u can get kno3 at walmart/lowes/homedepot...just find stump remover and there u go it has it in there its the same as just buying kno3 seperate

  • i got a 10lb bag for £15 on ebay

  • me too good place to get it

  • "A little big?" that was huge!!!

  • 3.08-end

I would have called the fire department if I saw that much smoke!!! LOL

  • would you happen to be from Minnesota?

  • hell no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm from Wisconsin

  • @Desolator144 close enough...i thought i caught the midwest twang..i know im from MN

  • @Desolator144 yay cheese head! lol and did any cops show up or did any1 ask what happen?

  • @halofan615 no lol

  • lol it made a mushroom cloud it looked like a atom bomb

  • damm dude that was tight lol so are u going to make anymore u said u was next year but y not now jw

  • why havnt you filmed the cloud?! that sux... but nice job

  • Where did you buy KNO3? Which type of shop?

  • ebay :D they had pyrotechnics grade

  • ok me myself when i make mine i just use a hotplate a pan and mix normally about a cup of stump remover with 80% kno3 with about a cup and half of of confectioners sugar and ive never had any problems and always get great smoke and low flame. just putting it out there

  • Dude, that's idiotic. Your stump remover is 80% KNO3 and 20% crap that could blow you up or turn the smoke toxic. You're a moron.

  • arent you supposed to cook the Kno3 and powdered sugar together in a pot? so it gets peanut buttery then let it harden?

  • no, that's extremely difficult and dangerous in large amounts.

  • @Desolator144 how is it difficult, and 60 grams sugar and 40 grams of kno3 is not dangerous to mix together with low heat

  • the mythbusters tried to do it on a temp controlled heat plate and it still ignited. Getting it hot enough without lighting it is almost impossible. Also doing like a pound or more of it that way will build a hard shell that will burn inside out then explode from built up pressure like a hand grenade.

  • @Desolator144 -

I've been looking for some sort of small scale smoke grenade recipe(prefferably something you can whip up low cost... then put it in a can so u can use it for light stuff say... airsoft battles, think u could help me out? You seem to know what you're doing here! That was sweet!

  • Typically you want less flames and longer duration smoke for airsoft but since melting it is extremely difficult and dangerous, I say just use my recipe with the powders and put them in as thin of a tube as possible. Like maybe an inch across and a foot high. That will keep it from burning too quickly. A Copper pipe with a cap on one end that you dig into the ground would work and it'd be even cooler to use a model rocket launch trigger and electric matches for it :-)

  • smoke...

  • i got a question : when you bake it ( olso an option ) allot of people use carton casings ... but can u olso use aluminium casings ?? plz reply

  • if the opening in the aluminum is really wide open, U can use it. You should never cook more than 1 pound of it though or it's really dangerous and prone to exploding. If you cut an aluminum can in half, that works pretty good for cooking it.

  • hey ive always wanted to make one but if u shouldnt bake that much could u make several batchs?

like say if i made 4 pounds 4 different coliors and put them in a big chip can would it make different colors and stuff?

  • I suppose you could bit if you enclose that much in one single area, it will explode. You don't want any pressure building up cuz this stuff gets to thousands of degrees. It would go right through a pringles can cuz it's flammable but put it in a metal pipe and you might have problems.

  • umm wat if i just used a pipe? because i dont know if i should go to home depot and find the perfect size just for something im gonna use once o.O

  • chances are the temps will cause the mixture to vaporize into some odd fireball explosive similar to a fuel-air bomb because the pressure of the heated air inside the restrictive pipe will cause the fuel to do something crazy.

  • @Desolator144 how about using pvc pipes with several holes drilled in the sides?? yhat should take the pressure down i belive

  • pvc will melt, just use paper towel rolls or something

  • @Desolator144 okie thanx

  • yes it works, but if you're thinking of cooking pots to bake it in, you'll never get them clean again :D i tried it myself... :P my mom was pretty angry

  • i got i clean again :D with some steel

  • DAMN!!!!

  • Notice how he has all this new growth forest around his house. This is because his neighbors moved away in fear for their lives.

Good job with the smoke bomb, though!

Wonder how it would work if you put in in a metal pail and a lid with a hole in it. Would probably reduce the flame and make even more smoke.

  • anything that builds up any remote amount of pressure would explode so you shouldn't restrict the smoke flow at all

  • that's cool

  • "dont try this at home"

    - well, didnt you just do it on your back yard at home?

  • yeah and I won't do that again rofl

  • did you grind it up

that must of been real hot

  • no, it comes in a powder. And yes, it almost burnt my face from that far away and I was quite concerned about the siding lol.

  • awesome

  • I think you're going to need a bigger fire pit.

  • now we know how to fix global warming...lol

  • now we just need to fix global OMG MY GRASS IS ON FIRE lol

  • I once lit off a smoke bomb on the marble kitchen floor of my house around 3/4 the size of that. All doors closed. My house didn't clear up for hours with every possible thing open.

  • Haha, I've always wanted to see that...

  • a little big!:S are you crazy that wass huge lmmfao!!!! omg soo niceeeeee

  • COols smoke BOMB!!!!!!

  • That was VERY cool!!!! And you know what? I think I will try this.

  • is it harmful to breathe? I know this is a stupid question but I just started 7th grade

  • you shouldn't be building one if you're like 12 lol. But no, I've heard it's not toxic or anything but if you breathe only smoke, you'd be in trouble

  • potassium nitrate by itself is very dangerous to breathe in when ignited. the gases cause your heart to slow down until it eventually stops. i dont know if the heat and sugar neutralizes the toxins but i wouldn't suggest using this inside or breathing the fumes just to be safe.

  • i need something else instead KNO3 !!! (i cant get it in my country and just for a few smoke bombs i wont buy it from other countries :-( so what can i use instead?

  • basically any sulphur and carbon-free nitrate I think. Nitrate = one nitrogen, 3 oxygen and the oxygen acts as a fuel to combine with the sugar. I think most other nitrate compounds just make explosions, not smoke though. I dunno if the potassium plays a part in this process either actually.

  • wow holy crap wow hahaha

  • That's a little big. . .

  • 1 question... :P sugar?

  • yes, sugar is a gigantic chain of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen and the 3 oxygens in the nitrate section of the potassium nitrate molecule provide the oxygen to combine with I guess the carbon or something and it makes a really fast chemical reaction.

  • i can see that the fireplace helped a hole lot

  • best smoke bomb on youtube!

  • if i did that in england i would get completely screwed by the cops! i might try it at our fire works display though :) it would be awsome!

  • how did you not get cought? haha

  • cuz I was hiding in the smoke! mwa ha ha ha ha. That and it was July 1st so a giant cloud of smoke isn't really that unusual.

  • shit! that was huge!

  • nigga that was a home made fireball lol but nice

  • how Much did that cost you in chemicals LMFAO

  • like $35

  • wow lovely

  • ''donot try this at home!'' But you tried...
