@chaosad09 It was designed as an interceptor, not a fighter.... It's greatest asset was speed.... but lacked manueverability . I have great respect for MiGs, too bad the 1.42/1.44 was a cancelled project and was only proven as a technology demonstrator.

@CommonRaven Yes but it is too expensive to have them at the moment, best vehicle is on Hydrogen for my opinion. But it is expensive to have system that doesn't lose the pressure by time. But they will think something about it. Conventional fuel is too foolish and too expensive. Electric fuel is the best solution but transfer is slow, you need few minutes to recharge the system at the moment. But they will think something and I think it will be combination Electric to Hydrogen.
This plane is far from stealthy.... external mounts for weapons etc little no turbine shielding re radar return either, but it may well have been billed as a straight replacement for the mig 29...... the fact the new mig 35 is pretty much the 29 with a serious amount of upgrades etc will have put paid to this a new next gen fighter. Interestingly Mikoyan have had a good deal of input into the the T50 which India are spending $20bn purchasing new aircraft that is stealthy with supercruise..

It's has build plan in 1987 in 90th USSR is broke and Russia didn't have money for prototype aircraft. Euro-fighter created in prototype 1997. Russia finish 1.44 and make just 1 prototype for testing technologies. And Yes, It's has plasma type stealth technology.
Such a sad story behind Mig 1.44. Russian air force really wanted this plane to complement Su-27 because Mig 29 doesnt have the range or the payload capacity to perform crucial air operations. The demise of this platform is directly connected to the economic hardship that the Russians were facing during the late 1990s. I think this platform should be brought alive with help from a reliable foreign partner to counter allied F-35.
@srijanme PAK FA is better than MiG 1.44, but its still sad for a different reason.. now china have used a almost copy varient of this plane called the j 20, that aint too good, since china can start producing many of them now.. it their first fifth gen fighter for china!

Such a sad story behind Mig 1.44. Russian air force really wanted this plane to complement Su-27 because Mig 29 doesnt have the range or the payload capacity to perform crucial air operations. The demise of this platform is directly connected to the economic hardship that the Russians were facing during the late 1990s. I think this platform should be brought alive with help from a reliable foreign partner to counter allied F-35.

It copy off the Russian t34 for it front slanted armor which push the the turret in the right place. kinda looks right sits way to high. All modern tanks are low profile smaller target that way. MiG 29 has its engines placed way wider and lower than cockpit and and the area before the engine air tunnels is completely different.

it is hard to judge if this jet will be good or not, numbers &blue prints does not mean much, it needs to be tested before judging, the older MIG's did not preform well in tests or in battles, maybe this one is different, who knows.

This plane had not been not even finished the basic aerodynamics. Much less weapons systems. Radars signiture is also a thing that you cant tell by simply looking at an aircraft. The signature is calculated by many standards nad let me tell you many planes are far worse off that fly today.
