I normally can't stand girly schlock, but I was required to watch this last semester in a Screenwriting class and I found it to be a cut above the rest.
That makes three of us that like Star Trek V. I would love to see what they could have filmed if they didn't have to deal with rushed production schedules, union strikes, and a third rate special effects crew.
Agreed. From the offset, unless someone is stating fact, they are stating opinion. That's why I take what anyone says with a grain of salt and move on unless what they say has some backing.
I love Tron and Tron Legacy. Both have rather thin plots, and not too much going on, but they are SO PRETTY and have good music. They're fun, and stupid, and I enjoy them immensely. <3
Of the original six movies, the one I dislike (but still watch it from time to time when I'm doing Star Trek Marathons) is Star Trek VI. Something about it just.. rubs me the wrong way I guess. Just never really enjoyed it.
However... while I dislike VI... branching out into the rest of the movies... I LOATH.... Star Trek Nemesis.... ugh...
I'm surprised you didn't mention Manos the hands of fate even though you mentioned Plan 9 from outer space. Pretty sure you said you liked it.

Also, I loved that first Star Trek movie. Not a good Star Trek movie, but an enjoyable movie nevertheless.
