@justezero Nevermind. I always disable desktop effects before gaming, When I passed the first section of the game, before the old archives it is slow, then from the old archives it runs perfectly... That's very odd, but at least it works.
I got a small problem with this game on Ubuntu..I installed it succesfully and I can get to the configuration menu at the begin. But when I try to launch the game, nothing happens, the screen flickers a bit but than returns to the desktop.
@MDxm3000 I got an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650, and I use propierity drivers (I think at least, I installed it when Ubuntu said that there was a new 3th party driver available, but didn't go to ATI's website to download the drivers from there)
@bartjoboy, basically I think your catalyst driver is not up to the game's requirements. Its a common issue that ATI drivers on Linux can't handle certain 3D requirements. I would suggest trying the actual drivers from ATI's website and see if that makes it work for you. Sometimes the ones given by Ubuntu are just a tad too old to work right.
This happened with my x1600 on Ubuntu for L4D 1 before. Sadly I had to change to Nvidia...
@myromance123 Thanks for the hint. :D But I kind of fixed it already some time ago. I needed root access to run the game properly apperently, so I just had to do sudo *path to launcher file* to run it, kind of anoying I couldn't start it with the normal button, but at least it worked.. :P
So this means it's running OpenGL right?

I want to play this game on Linux (Kubuntu 11.04), but it runs slowly, even on medium setting, and 1024x768.
On Windows 7 I played it on 1600x900 and on almost full graphics and ran with a decent speed (22-35 FPS).
I have official ATI Driver installed (the latest one). Any idea?

@RatmanXX configure your desktop with minimal effects or non effects and then play the game, you may gain 20 fps in that way

low frame rate? why? because of screen recorder ? Or it is this way?
Is this app native?
technologyvictim 9 months ago
@technologyvictim It is native yes, low framerates are caused by my old hardware and desktop recorder! :)
