I often like to do Pink Floyd/David Gilmour type stuff. This sounds like it could really be a main synth for me. So I just bought one! Ha ha! It should be here soon. I'm actually selling an A-Station and a Virus rack (the 1u version) because I don't think I'll be needing them anymore. I may actually work toward having the Microwave and my E-mu B-3 simulator as my only synths besides having a nice board like Kurzweil. Right now I use Yamaha EX7 as my main board, Alesis Ion on the side.
One of my favourite live synths. Very versatile (much more than the Mk I), powerful, cuts through the band like an hot knife through butter. Layers, solosounds, weird stuff, brass sounds, lofi or scifi sounds - it offers nearly everything that is needed. Love it.
I have an original MicroWave in the studio - for some reason the original seems to get far less internet coverage than the II which is odd as it has Curtis filters and is closer related to the PPG wave. It's weird! - 8 bit morphed/sequenced wavetables with analog resonant filters and I'd never part with it!
There is a welcome harshness to this synth's sound that I've always appreciated.
