US probably had the best heavy bombers =B17 and B29 but overall I'd say Germans had best planes they just didn't have enough of them. The Spitfire was a match for a Mustang and they shared the same(British)engine anyway. The US likes to forget that Jap Zeros ripped them to pieces at the start of the war, but Japan didn't have the resources to keep developing planes.
Dwalters1988....read a little history before you run your mouth. B-17, P-39, P-40, P-47 and others were used by many nations. Look closely at the video and you will see some of those markings. Also, many of the aircraft here were instrumental in various aspects of the war and outclassed the opposition fighters of their day. P-40 helped hold China. B-17 was known for incredible resiliency. Were there other great aircraft?...you bet. No need to get your knickers in a not over a video.

@Dwalters1988 The British, Australian, and Canadian RAF flew B-24s, P-40s and P-51s (Free French also used P-51s late in the war). The New Zealand RAF flew F4U Corsairs, P-40s and B-24 Liberators. The USSR and Free French forces flew P-39s. So these aircraft, although American designed, were not just used by the USA. However, the fact that so many non-US Allied nations flew American aircraft says something of the importance that American industrial power played in winning the war.

what i mean with down then up is that the wildcat was a lot faster than the zeke when going downwards and the zeke did not manage that. so they had to take it easy or the could collapse when going uppwards again. so then the wildcat went straight uppwards and shot the zeke because it did not have control enough to avoid the shots.

Dont really know what you mean with "down and then up" but the Zero lost because it simply did not age well. At the outbreak war the Zero was the most maneuvrable and fastest climbing as well as one of the fastest carrier borne fighters. However it did not see much of a development for the rest of the war. The A6M3 and 5 added a little speed and climbrate but the Zero was easily outrun by its competition in 1943 and its incredible vulnerability to gunfire was also something to worry about
p51 was a boom and zoom and not designed to dog figt. it was and did exactly what it was supposed to and that was long distance bomber escort. you want to dog fight with 109's, zeros or spits, I suggest the F6F
The P-51 was certainly designed to dogfight, do you think they made a long range escort and didn't expect it to have to fight other enemy planes? The P-51 destroyed the most planes out of all the American planes, so it has to be fairly good at dogfighting for an achievment like that.

For many it is hard to believe the real truth about these aircraft. No fighter in that era was the best or the worst. Every famous fighter had it's own qualities and as the war progressed so did some aircraftdesigns that proved to be best up to their tasks that laid ahead and lasted througout the war and beyond! P51 didn't dominate any airplane. It wasn't the fastest, the most agile, the easiest to fly, the fastest to climb, the best armed nor had it the best range. P51D wasn't any or those but it had a right mixture of all of those abilities and that made it a good overall plane.
What comes to german planes from the same age the result in a dog flight was all due to the pilot ir the combat was 1 against 1. Mustang wasn't a so superior plane compared to 109's and 190's that it would be child's play.

Zero was revolutionary when it was introduced and has great success in China and the beginning of the Pacific war. One or two years into the war and Zero was outdated and had no change against more modern american fighters like hellcats and corsairs or p51's. Agility isn't everything.
I always thought that the Wildcat was too under powered. If it had a bigger engine, it would have done a lot better. You are right about winning many battles with them. Do you think it was the pilots that made the difference? I think so.
It was underpowered, but it wasn't the individual pilots that won the battles, it was the team tactics. Japs fought for themselves, Americans fought for each other with wingman tactics.

Yeah, when the zero came out, USAAF used planes like p36, p40 (early versions) and F4F, which had no possibility against japanese fighters.

One on one, Zekes were better than F4F's but we still won battle after battle with the Wildcat.

I always thought that the Wildcat was too under powered. If it had a bigger engine, it would have done a lot better. You are right about winning many battles with them. Do you think it was the pilots that made the difference? I think so.

It was underpowered, but it wasn't the individual pilots that won the battles, it was the team tactics. Japs fought for themselves, Americans fought for each other with wingman tactics.

they all LOOK nice but the true giant of the video is the corsair; with the radial engine and the capacity to fly carrier-based. also the ability to launch rockets/torpedoes/bombs and fire 6 machineguns that tore whole boats apart.

sorry pal WRONG music!!! Go back a little these are NOT jets. Thay flew to a different beat. Nice Pictures and good time with the transfers. well put together but the WRONG music.
