How to Downgrade iPhone 3Gs/3G/2G and iPod Touch 2G/3G (Any Baseband)

I have the exact same problem as PODforever - error 3194 when trying to downgrade from 4.1 to 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 on 2G MB model. Firmware 4+ killed the wifi/bluetooth and battery on the ipod, and we had never jailbroken before, so no blobs saved :(

this is really epic, but who has iTunes 9.2 anymore? much less anything below that? you should try it on the most recent version of iTunes! once you do that I'll definitely try this out!

it wont save. it will save any other text apart from "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" its like apple wont accept that line of code, but anything else will save perfectly. BLAST! all i want to do in downgrade my freaking ipad firmware from 3.2.2 to 3.2.1!!

I followed the steps to a tee like you showed on this video, I was doing everything as I had the video on, and everything was working until itunes was checking the update with apple. I ended up getting error code 3194. please help, I'm running 4.1 on iPod Touch 2G non- MC model and I'd like to downgrade to 3.1.2

i have a 3G, i had 4.0 it was really really slow and stuff didnt work. even after i re did it without multitasking. i did the instructions just how you said and it worked. but after i jailbroke and unlocked it, it wouldnt regonize the tmobile broadband or whatever. so i tried your method again and got a 1611 error. any ideas?

@theirishbobster 2 things, u need shsh blobs and 3.1.3 has stopped being signed by apple so it won't work.

Thank you so much. If directions are followed exactly this will work. I kept getting the 3194 error. To fix this you must edit host file exactly as shown here. Change to .txt edit insert correct string, remove .txt and this will change file type. You must have shsh stored with cydia but if you do this WILL work. Thanks again for video!

@tomownzuftw You can't downgrade to 3.1.3 that's why. You can only downgrade to 3.1.2.

I renamed the HOSTS file to HOSTS.txt. But it wont let me save the file after I edited it. It gives me this message.

Cannot create the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\et­c\HOSTS.txt file.

Make sure that the path and file name are correct.

Any suggestions?

when i did this i didnt need to hold home and power button during restore it just restored it. But I did go to the hosts file and add the number and stuff. Great vid TY

Here Is what i find out from my experience. I have a 3gs 16gb on OS 4.0 firmware 5.13 and using this i could downgrade it to 3.1.3 all fine. but not 3.1.2 i got the 3094 error every single time.
