Saw this guy at Prog Power USA playing with Fate's Warning for their reunion show and it was nothing less that jaw dropping. Phenomenal drummer. Made playing that technical stuff look easy.
This guy should've been among the auditioning drummers for Dream Theater. I'm pretty sure he would've been a big favorite. Oh well... Mangini is very good but they really missed out on Bobby.
@outlaw6066 Not every drummer wants to play for Dream Theater. I'm sure Bobby wants to create his own legacy. Not be remembered as the guy who played Portnoy's recordings and replaced him.
@Z4nk0 yeah ok, a noob that pulls out polyrhythms like my dick pulls out of your mom, which is about five times a night. Danny would be an upgrade for dream theater. But he wouldn't lower himself.
@PoeticJustice05 1, and I did not messed with anyone in your family, which proves you are an immature child of shit. (I can get with your family from hell, but I have more education)
2 ° An update to Dream Theater? I think it would be a delay for Dream Theater, as Danny Carey does not even reach the average level of portnoy.
3 º I see you are an immature child music besides patetico.Escucha shit ... and then more music and please answer me ..
1- yeah, I'm a child, this from the guy who says "noob."
2 - I have all the Tool albums, and most of the Dream Theater albums. Danny Carey is a much more musical player than Mike Portnoy, he makes much better use of polyrythms; he incorporates his hands a lot more, and has much better hand technique. listen to some Tool, then listen to ZAUM, and listen to music in general, and you will see what I'm talking about. And learn to speak English o si no mejor hablamos en Espanol chamo.
@outlaw6066 With all respect: Bobby is too much for our A7X friends. They're great, they are cool but, they belong to a different way of making music. If you dont't trust me, go and compare "Afterlife" from A7X with "Peppered cancer" from Spastic Ink. Both are very good, but... there's no point where they could meet.
I think that Aquiles Priester is most better for Dream Theater. Bobby Jarzombek is a good drummer, but he is like Portnoy. Dream Theater need a drummer with a new style.
I think that Aquiles Priester is most better for Dream Theater. Bobby Jarzombek is a good drummer, but he is like Portnoy. Dream Theater need a drummer with a new style.
@metalraphael Bobby isn't a Portnoy spin off. He is on the music scene before Mike (since 1986, Mike made his debut in 1989). Listen to his work with Riot, Halford, Spastic Ink and you'll realize how he is underrated. Mike is doing the same things since the last 10 years, Bobby is more skilled and versatile than him.
@Alixbox1723 It's open hand technique. Uses his left hand to lead the hihat/ride. He has said it gives him more flexibility around the kit instead of being locked in
@Alixbox1723 From what I heard, his unorthodox style is due to the fact that he just prefers not to have his arms crossed while playing, but he has the ability to play either style.

@Alixbox1723 It's called "open hand" technique. Billy Cobham (considered the originator) and Carter Beauford are some the best-known open-hand players.
@Alixbox1723 The drumming style is called open-handed I believe. On Bobby's website he talks about it. Drummers like Carter Beauford, John Blackwell, Mike Mangini, Gene Hoglan, Terry Bozzio, Randy Black, and many other drummers are starting to accept this style for its many benefits.
@Alixbox1723 This guy's a perfect example for an ambidexterious musician. As PlatinumSamples say, he's Predominantly right-handed, however if you check out the Peppered Cancer video, it's obvious that his left hand is equaly involved as his right hand. As a lefthanded person, I'd play the same way as him, hitting the hi-hat with my left hand on the left side, and the snare with the right, but acomplishing what he does is impossible, 'cause my right hand is not involved in drumming as the left.
@Alixbox1723 Technically it's called "open handed". Carter Beuford and many other greats play the same way. If it was true left handed, the toms would go to the left instead of the right. Mike Bordin is another name that comes to mind. You Tube search "open handed drumming" or anything like that and check it out.
@Alixbox1723 You're both correct in your observation. He does the ride to the left, despite being right-handed, because he likes the freedom of being able to work the toms with his dominant hand whilst doing ride patterns.
Bobby is the best at what he does,I've also heard some jazz and he's super at that also...and these are the best sounding e-drums I've heard.I wonder how they would sound in a lager amplified arena...I saw Heart live and the drummers e- kit sounded very crappy
I just met him yesterday in the Sebastian Bach - GN'R concert in Lima Peru and he's truly an amazing person, super nice and down-to-earth guy... and plus of course and incredible drummer!!!!
this is the best e-drum demo i have ever seen. can anyone tell me what is the make and model of electric kit he is using? i see the yamaha logo but that could be the brand of rack, not the pads.
Too bad the equipment won't make you sound like Bobby Jarzombek. If you haven't heard it, check out Spastic Ink. His brother on guitar. The earlier the better.

Not to mention the software has expansion packs so you can always expand the amount of drum kits you own. Also the BFD2 software allows you to mix and produce.

I have Bobby's dvd. It and Bobbys drumming is really good.............................but Legend?.............I don't think so.........not yet anyway. I bet Bobby would agree w/me also. Guys that have been prominent in Metal; Ulrich, Lombardo and Vinnie Paul would be considered Legends before Bobby. Do people refer to either of those three as Legends??? And I have nothing against Bobby..............he's pretty amazing............... Just my thoughts.
The middle had some great 5 note grouping/cymbal accents in sextuplet rate. Bobby can seamlessly blend such an array of phrasings and ideas, he's got it down!

Pff... Travis Barker, leyenda. xD Por favor.
Long live Prog. metal.

Holy fuck!? Thiz is the reason why i prefer progressive/power drummers over death metal drummers. Bobby is the virgil donati of metal.

Bobby is a great drummer. love his playing in halford. he always seems like a really nice guy as well. kick ass! =)

The middle had some great 5 note grouping/cymbal accents in sextuplet rate. Bobby can seamlessly blend such an array of phrasings and ideas, he's got it down!
