I appreciate your video because I am trying so hard to get out of my depression and I can't get motivated to work out which is my only way out of depression that I have left. I'm so tired of not feeling good enough and I constantly beat myself up for mistakes I have made and even things I can't control. I'm on my last leg oh hope. I need people that understand to write to and maybe help each other out in motivation.

No, actually this is WAY more clothes than I practice in normally.The more bare skin you have to make contact with the pole, the easier a lot of the moves are. I don't really have a suitable workout outfit for pole yet, and I wasn't ready to do an SFC vid in undies...so I figured a skirt would give me enough bare leg to work with, and look pretty on spins! If it's cold, I practice in pants, but it's much harder to work on the pole w/out friction

When I get strong enough to be thinking about some of the more complicated tricks (like inverts) I'll probably take a class so I don't break my neck. Thank you! It's very liberating! Pole dance has a sexy reputation, but honestly, it's just good fun, like swinging around the jungle gym as a kid!

I got mine from a YouTuber, studioveena (her website is studioveena(dot)com - she also does online lessons) for $299...which is about the going rate for a quality pole. X-pole and Platinum Stages are the best brands. You can get cheaper poles, but they won't necessarily be safe for tricks. Xpole doesn't bolt to your ceiling so it's easy to move or take down (but clearly, it's totally sturdy!) Hope that helps! It's a spendy investment, but more fun than buying a t

I don't intend to do either professionally, although that's no judgment against those who do - it's just that I've got 4+ years of university and students loans behind me, and this whole vet school thing, so I should probably do something with that ( ; If I had the skill level, and a fat-friendly venue, I would definitely consider an amateur, cabaret-type performance, for fun. Pole dance doesn't have to be erotic, either.
No worries! I tried to make this clip intentionally non-sexy (I usually practice wearing a lot less...) so as to kind of defuse the stereotypes around pole dancing and pole fitness. What drew me to pole dancing was the strength and grace of the dancers, more than the sexiness - my favorite performers are generally very non-erotic in their dancing. Not that sexy doesn't have it's place, but most people think of pole dancing as erotic dance only - thanks for giving me a chance to talk about that!
