  • I'm in love with you; your cooking is just the bonus.

  • I make homemade tortillas all the time but I think I roll them out to thin. What's the optimum thickness? And how much salt and milk did you use? :D

  • @joycloud I roll them out about 1/8". All the ingredients are in the description box!

  • Het hilah I have a question I'm purty new at cooking n I just learned how to make tortillas but with d flour that u just add hot water n I was wondering Is that the same as the all purpose flour? if not wts d difference n can u use it all d same? Thanx

  • @xXcoNtReRasXx3 Sounds like you are using some kind of tortilla mix, like Bisquick for tortillas. The mix already has baking soda, salt, and oil in it. Read the ingredients to check, but they're not interchangeable.

  • Hi Hilah can i put these dough balls into freezer to store?

  • @iw974315 Good question. I *think* that would work. Might roll the balls, then freeze them spread out on a plate, then store in a container once they are frozen to prevent sticking together. Let me know if you try it if it works!

  • Love your dress

  • First time in my life I I have even been jealous of a rolling pin :o

  • i like tequila, the gold kind.

  • Great video of how to make tortillas from scratch. I believe people that are adding water over milk could be using tortilla flour which has milk in it already.

  • LOOK GREAT NEXT TIME I AM GOING TO USE MILK

  • about how much salt did yo put in the tortilla? and how much milk did you use?

  • about how much salt did yo put in the tortilla?

  • i've been making tortillas for 14 yrs and i have never used milk its alsways been water!

  • loco

  • Hi Hilah :) Can I substitute the All-purpose Flour and Baking Powder for Self-rising Flour?

  • @EmelynAngel That should work fine, babe!

  • she is kinda hot!!!

  • I guess you are the whole package: You look fun, you're talented, you're cute, but most of all you're damn HOT. Well... I think I have a crush on you...(sigh)

  • @CTAWorshipper Oh, dear. ;)

  • This is normal flour or wheat flour?

  • @Goooska5 Not sure what you mean. It's all purpose wheat flour, not whole wheat flour.

  • If properly overcooked, can a tortilla be used for self defense?

  • @VaprzVideo You mean like a shield? Yes, definitely.

  • good job!

  • this chic is too cool.she is funny.i am subbing this channel def-o.i wanna eat her fajita-ta-ta!

  • You can't make tacos with wheat tortillas, gringo.

  • @allencrider I think you mean gringa.

  • @hilahcooking LOL

  • @hilahcooking yes!!!...gringo=boy!and yes you can!

  • @allencrider , Of course she can ! I do it all the time :D . And that recipe it just awesome Im gonna try it tomorrow AGAIN !

  • Yu're better than Martha Stewart.

  • I have never in my life been this excited about Tortilllllas, and I'll never look at a rolling pin the same way again....

Really though, they look so fuffy and fresh and other then letting the dough proof a lot easier then I had thought it would be to make dough. Great episode.

  • when they start 2 puff up press them down a clean dish towel not real hard lightly, bunuelos n sopapillas r real good to u can make them w the same dough to.cs

  • i didn't know u could use milk , my Dad use 2 make them, i miss him, he always used water, will try it this way, the factorys here make them w water n the ones across the border to cs

  • Tortillas! Yummy! I have to admit, I don't really like cooking shows, but I feel oddly drawn to yours... must be the attitude. Sort of the anti-Martha. I like it!

  • Oh wow...these look delicious and a lot easier to make than I thought! Any idea if they can be made with gluten-free flours? Would love to try them, just not get violently ill in the process :(

Loving your videos and website - you're hilarious :)

  • @CbugM I'm not real familiar with gluten-free cooking. I really think you'd need some glutenous wheat flour in there or they would just crumble. Probably could get away with doing half wheat and half some other flour if that helps.

  • why use milk? I've made tortillas before and it says to use hot water

  • @attackfighter Milk is more typically used in Texas. Water more so in Mexico. And since I'm in Texas, you know. Either way works.

  • Nice vid.....I have always wanted to try this......thanks!

  • @TheVittleVlog You should definitely try it. So much gratification for a moderate amount of effort.

  • Awesome vid, thanks for sharing!

  • Another winner. Have you made corn tortillas? Any real differences in the method?

  • @1kperday I have made corn tortillas. The dough is stickier and harder to work with. It's just corn and water so there's no gluten to speak of. I want to try it again now, though!

  • @Ragrog105 Tostadas in the oven? okay?

@Fancylooks Yes, all purpose flour is what I use. The resting time is not for rising - it is to let the gluten relax so you have tender tortillas, not tough ones. And it also makes the dough easier to roll.

  • Request: Tostada shells please? Kudos at the 4:39 - 4:43 mark!

  • What kind of flour do you use, All purpose? Do you think a dough made with baking powder needs to be laid to wait, does it make any diference? I mean, I thought powered yeast would need time to work, but baking powder I am not so sure, i think it just works whith the heat.

Anyway, if it works for you it will work for me, I have to try this because my family loves mexican tortillas. Thank you for the recipe.
