We are all alone in our journey through this life. TRUTH is disturbing for most, but the thoughts in your mind, body,&soul are all you possess in this life. People, even "family" are on their own course & If U don't feel a connection, carry on & realize it's just a part of the journey, keep your soul moving on, shit happens, life is agonizing at times. Hold On & channel the pain! Don't try to run away&DULL it.Isolating Yourself,..."WALK ON!"- Neil Young
this is soul food. so very raw...god i miss this man. even in all his hurt/sadness u can tell he was a beautiful person and very loved even if he didnt feel it.
Layne was soul Graced by God. "Lakes of fire" That is for ignorant pretentious little freaks like you. "Dawg"Quit drinking the "Tiger Blood" for your not Winning here! And when the Sky rips open and the rain pours through the deepen wound..."I hope it's Layne ...Pissing on your head-- . This is so hard for me...Because Layne was so filled with Grace --some souls bare such creative weight--"a power strong enough to exceed reason." On his last breathe --a part of my heart was suddenly gone--
I think Layne didn't give a fuck if he went down from drugs...i mean he was a Satanist...and knew he was gonna swim in a lake of fire some time ...so he did what made him happy that's all i got to say about that one lol
@Cassidy2469 A satanist? First off, a Satanist doesn't believe in such a place. Second, where are you getting that and how is that funny? It didn't make him happy, he was doing it to reconnect with his father who he started doing drugs heavily with after he first got big, and suddenly his dad was around. ie. cause he had money. Have some decency and respect.
@Cassidy2469 "he did what made him happy?!" did you actually hear any song he wrote lyrics for? it's blatantly obvious how desperate he was about his situation
Bless you, Layne, bless you!!! For being on this earth, which couldn´t carry your greatness, for showing us how music is supposed to sound, for gifting us with your sense of humor, your "Yeeeaaahhhoouuu"´s and your incredible sweetness. Where are you now, why did you leave us all alone?!? Layne, oh my God - Layne.
What an awesome show. This is what a "supergroup" is supposed to sound like. The whole band plays tight together. Barrett and John Baker Saunders are criminally underrated as a rhythm section. Their work on the album is phenomenal. And of course McCready and Layne are amazing.
Layne is my fav vocalist of them all period...but no matter how much i hate to say it layne pretty much destroyed his voice. after 94 his voice started looseing that deep raw power that is soo distinctivly his own...not saying he sounds like shit, but will say he's not lookin vry good here..hopefully this will set a positive example showing just how crippleing addiction can be.my peace comes from knowing the man is no longer suffering and is a better place...peace

Jerry sang his heart out during the Tribute Song "Black Gives Way To Blue" in memory of his friend Layne last Friday night a the Key Arena in Seattle, it wan an amazing performance and the entire concert was recorded in 3D for an upcoming DVD that will be out sometime next year but you can check out my channel for live footage that I recorded.... Check it out!!.. RIP Layne!!..
Give credit to the other musicians, Layne wasn't even singing anything while they were swaying.... don't get me wrong, Layne was an amazing artist, but you're just like everyone else that worships an artist once they die. If people had the love for him they do now whenever he was alive, he would probably be alive... along with everyone other musician that was alone @ rock bottom and addicted.
Just wanted to say that I love his music and I more recently went so far as to research his life,I too graduated from a treatment center a year ago, heroin ive never done meth Im sorry to say.Its important to mention that you dont really need a huge over whelming trama to get into drugs, Just youthfull curiosity and sense of indistructableness' death grip of addiction takes it from there. After researching Layne i know he would be greatfull for any help getting word to next generation.
Layne not only had one of the best voices but he also was the personality! I would imagine he would be the person that walked into a room and everyone gravitated towards him. This son was meant for him to sing it alone as opposed to the recorded version!
Layne's lyrics have always hit home with me. I just hope I can get out of my own addiction before it gets the better of me. R.I.P. Layne Staley... you were truly one of a kind and a beautiful soul that just got dealt the wrong cards.
This live version is way better that the original recording. The pitch of his voice is so much more intense. How great it would have been to be at the Moore that day!!
the problem never was the drug, always has been the addiction, what takes us there is what really kill us, i just got off from rehab it's a shame that some of my friend can't say the same because they are not longer with us anymore, being clean all this time makes me thing that what layne, really was trying to tell us in his lyrics is that there is always a way out ....RIP Layne ..Gone Never Forgoten
@SickCoNnie I was reading "Grunge is Dead", a book about the Seattle Grunge scene, and they talked about his addiction. Seems like he came to terms that he was never going to be clean, and the odds of his survival were slim. At least that's how i took it. It seems that he was so far into depression, he didn't really care anymore. Then again, he lost many friends and his girlfriend to his addiction. That would make me want to give up too.
The gem on the VHS in my opinion, Layne's voice is just so beautiful and breathtaking here. It's also nice having the contrast between the multi layered vocals on the album to just the one here
i'm origionally from glastonbury u.k , i loved alice in chains but this stufff is so tanquil its unbelieveable his voice sens a fuki n shiver down my spine . i dont belive in GOD as such but but there is the light of god in his tones somewhere. Even sir david attemborough would agree with me that; in this song his voice sounds like a whale calling out in the depths of the ocean ! somwwhere ! i love lane staley's voice ...RIP
You're right. In a week, it will be 3 years since I lost my best friend. He didn't even do anything hard. It was accidental when he was trying to get clean with methadone and took some cold medicine that caused him to stop breathing in the night. So, you never really know until it's too late. "It's time to wake up...."
The shot of him with his eyes rolling in his head/looking up; is so angelic and tear-jerking at the same moment....staley, you were and are the king of Seattle.
I lost my brother and my dad in a span of 2 months. I'm not quite sure the meaning of this song, but it hits a cord in my heart that makes me realize that maybe we are alone.
That was my first time posting a comment on anything, much less posting something so personal. Sorry for your loss. Obviously we're not alone, yet we are.
This song is always the first song I listen to when I start to peak on a trip. It has never failed to get my head exactly where it needs to be for peaceful, deep thoughts. It's a perfect example of the power of music and the love it can spawn.
He was the last of the only hope I had for music. After him it was all down hill and now we have chemical romance and these other pieces of garbage...oh well, change is the only constant. RIP.
I'm curious, I know a lot of Mad Season fans (including myself) got into them through Alice in Chains. I wonder what percent of MS fans didn't know Alice in Chains. Hmm
Google free youtube to mp3 converter, download it and transfer these specific files into mp3 format. I got them on my Blackberry, pc, Cd's you name it.
hey i just read further comments regarding this post ... those who criticize .. I CHALLENGE U TO POST A BETTER VERSION OF "all alone". SING THIS BETTER THAN LAYNE .. I DARE YA U IDIOTS
layne was an undescribably talented man i agree. this song reminds me of my mortality. i hope it has an impact others rather than being just another cool song
This song takes me to my past....memories, the good and bad...i usually get teary eyed, if not cry while listening to this song...RIP Layne, you were amazing.
Damn I love thsi band, and I Friggin love this song, its pure awesomeness, it makes you to travel through your own memories and feelings, Thank you Layne, for being such a genius, your bodie is no longer in this world, but your music it trascends this world, heaven and hell...
Layne Staley was definetly the best singer ever to walk on earth. I can't think of anyone with even half of the emotion he had in singing. You don't need any degrees or have to go to schools to know what makes music good. All you have to do is LISTEN! Even though Layne isn't with us anymore, we can still enjoy the music he left for us. I've never met the guy, but when i'm listening to his music, I feel like I know him and it feels like he's right next to me singing these awesome songs. RIP Layne
All I can say is that I've studied music all my life. With my ears.
I don't need some school to know what music is. I don't need some, as DL put it, stupid piece of paper saying you studied music for a few years, I don't need to waist my time with that. You know why?
Cause all I know is I fucking love it, and that's all that matters.
This song means so many things to me. Which is ironic cause it has two lines. It can be on the personal note, but it could also refer to there being no god. Thats just my opinion. If I knew Layne and plan to in heaven I would never leave alone...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
doesn't sound so good live, laynes vocals were kinda hit and miss when it came to live performances, sometimes he was really good, sometimes he was really awful, was never really inbetween.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
nirvana fag? wtf are you on about? if you are gonna attempt to insult me at least do it properly. i like laynes voice, but he wasn't necessarily a good singer, he just had a unique voice you either liked or hated
This is the reason you do not know anything about music you douche.
"misery business (acoustic) - paramore" what the fuck is this shit. Stick to them you MR "insult me at least do it properly". Must be a fag that doesn't know what music is.
I'm doing music at college so i probably know a hell of a lot more about music than you do, plus misery business by paramore is a great song, as is this^^^^
'Must be a fag that doesn't know what music is.'
yes of course i'm a cigarette who doesn't know what music is!
You are fucken lame. I studying music in college, thats how stupid you are, music, that is the easiest fucken career in the world. Get a real career. "Stupid yank", thats weak. respond back to me when you've gotten a real career.

RIP.

Wow that shot of the crowd is trippy lol
I'm curious, I know a lot of Mad Season fans (including myself) got into them through Alice in Chains. I wonder what percent of MS fans didn't know Alice in Chains. Hmm
Oh well, anyway, I LOVE YOU LAYNE!

ha i get a kick out of people debating layne's singing performance in this song, a song where he pretty much sings, "ahh ahh..." the entire time...
GrizzlTooth 2 years ago
yes you're right, but not everybody is able to enjoy that, like you, go and listen black eyed peas and that kind of shit
Pearlman83 2 years ago
well, it's just that i think the bickering gets a bit rediculous on there.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of all the songs from this venue?

Google free youtube to mp3 converter, download it and transfer these specific files into mp3 format. I got them on my Blackberry, pc, Cd's you name it.
This concert is amazing!

When Layne sings this songs it feels so sincere. Every word and howl reeks of desperation in some kind... it sends shivers down my spine for sure.
A sad soul and cruel fate.
Rest in peace Layne. You are missed.

RIP Layne
Grungefever 2 years ago 6
All I can say is that I've studied music all my life. With my ears.
I don't need some school to know what music is. I don't need some, as DL put it, stupid piece of paper saying you studied music for a few years, I don't need to waist my time with that. You know why?
Cause all I know is I fucking love it, and that's all that matters.

This song means so many things to me. Which is ironic cause it has two lines. It can be on the personal note, but it could also refer to there being no god. Thats just my opinion. If I knew Layne and plan to in heaven I would never leave alone...

doesn't sound so good live, laynes vocals were kinda hit and miss when it came to live performances, sometimes he was really good, sometimes he was really awful, was never really inbetween.

moltenriches, you are fucken retarded. Layne was one of the best live singers/performers. MUst be a nirvana fag.

nirvana fag? wtf are you on about? if you are gonna attempt to insult me at least do it properly. i like laynes voice, but he wasn't necessarily a good singer, he just had a unique voice you either liked or hated

This is the reason you do not know anything about music you douche.
"misery business (acoustic) - paramore" what the fuck is this shit. Stick to them you MR "insult me at least do it properly". Must be a fag that doesn't know what music is.
