why cant planes have wing mirrors, i know it sounds stupid, but why not, they cant see the engines on both wings, but with mirrors they could see the wings, or fire coming from the wings. somebody please tell me why they dont have them, no daft answers, as i will only block u..

After watching a number of these airplane crash programs, i have to admit that i found a common denominator that could help in such situations. Namely Cockpit-Crew Communication. A great number of these tragedies occur within many minutes which would give time for communication between the cockpit crew and the flight attendants.

Furthermore, people should be more pro-active and vigilant during these types of situations and should insist to get their observations passed on i.e engine sparks.

i know nothing about planes but shouldnt they like have a backup engine or something?? nd also what about the emergency doors? they should be able to jump out with proper equipement on to escape crashing, especially if they're that close to the ground.

@parisgala well no since they shouldnt need backup engines and if all engines failed they can stil glide for a short time research the glimi glider i think it was nick named

2 engines in this type. There is no room for more than that. If both fail then you're pretty much buggered haha.

RAT (ram air turbine) can deploy in that situation to keep power up. And if the metal is bent up around the exits they can be extremely difficult to open.

Pilots can't see the engines from the flight deck, and instruments don't always give them a complete picture. If they'd had information from a flight attendant as to which engine was throwing out sparks this accident might have had a different ending.

Wow! Lucky they passed the motorway without any cars passing by! I can't imagine slowing down from a hundred kilometers per hour!

Easier that than stopping a plane from 250.

Also- find an empty stretch of highway where you can go 100 safely and stop at full brakes. Several times, until it'll be natural.

Better yet- get a friend who will tell you STOP, so you'll practice your reaction time too.

It pays off when someone or something (such as a deer or 737) suddenly appears in front of you.
