@josh666675 Back-pressure = bad. Only reason to ever worry about it is if you have a EGR valve that requires back-pressure to open. Can always put a regular EGR valve on...
I knew a lot of guys running those 350 olds back in the day. had a former friend running that motor in a 71 Chevy Nova and his uncle had one in a 79 Olds 98 Regency and that thing could run too. Yea, im thinking running 1.6 roller rockers or going with a LT4 cam and 1.6 roller rockers and new valve springs.
just brought a used cop car--94 Caprice 9C-1. My 95 caprice 9C-1 was stolen around the end of April. Never looked into the motor, just wondering, does it have the roller rockers, 1.5's or 1.6's? stamped steel? I would like to add 1.6 ratio rockers and maybe upgrade to a LT4 cam.
@BNforever2009 Sucks about your '95. I have yet to own a LT1, mine has a 1973 oldsmobile 350 in it. See the description for further details. However my understanding is they still used the 1.5:1 ratio rocker arms, that are stamped steel. The lifters are roller though. From my days on the f-body e-mail lists, I know the camaro guys were putting in the LT4 camshaft, but I don't know what modifications are needed to make it work correctly. Probably have to tune the ECU.
cool car thogh, i have a 94 and 03 crown victoria that both have 2 7/8 th inch pipes, the 94 has thrush turbo classics and the 03's got flowmaster delta 44's, the 44 cost 80.00 and the thrush cost 20, i get better performence from the 94 than the 03 and a better sound! more is not always better, lol
The 9c1 has been out of production for around 11 years now. The few caprices I've still see in service are K9 units, other specialized units, and the occasional unmarked detectives car.
Even 5 or so years back when it was still common to see them at government auctions the lightbars, scanners, etc.. are generally removed. Couple of reasons, a citizen won't be mistaken for a officer, and those light bars are expensive. Unbolt them and put it on the next car.
the Caprice has been out of production since 1996. the 9c1 option group is still in production, but on the wrong-wheel-drive impala. now if i could only get the electrics on my civvy caprice to work right, id dump a rebuilt LT4 and heavy duty suspension and brakes in 1994. I love the car, but hate the electrics
The engine is a 1973 Oldsmobile 350. Stock long block with ~250,000 miles on it. Edelbrock Performer intake, flowtech headers, and a 450cfm Holley from a '65 ford galaxie.
It did, or at least I assume the hacked up crossmember was from a '94. It's still welded to the twisted 1994 frame I threw away. haha. btw, who are you?
If I didn't know any better, I would say that is a whiskey running car.

Is that just your exhaust making that nice roar?
Eatahoho 2 years ago
it sounds good but i herd that putting a huge exhaust thats bigger than 2.5 on a stock motor is bad. u get no performance, just a bunch of noise

It was fixed. At the time I was a week into the project. Had just gotten it running by jumper wires to the battery.

thats sick
camarodue 4 years ago
Yeah it's really sick now. Spun a couple rod bearings. "New" engine will have to wait until this summer.

That shit sounds sweet. What kind of flowmaster are they. Tha 40 series 2 chamber or tha delta flow.
Brianjc22 4 years ago
They look like 40 series. Came with the '94 caprice body. They were 2.5'' in/out that I had to modify to 3'' in/out.

Can you only buy these Victorias. What about if you want a 9c1 instead oc a P71. Full equipped car. With lightbar, police scanner and lacquer...??

how much did it cost u to buy that car?
choppercity33 4 years ago
$225 bought the '94 rolling shell with 3'' dual exhaust on it.
Rest of the car is from parting out "the ugly" and from spare parts.
I'm in the middle of painting it now, should be done over Thanksgiving weekend.
capricechopper 4 years ago
sounds fucking sweet.. You should hear my 78 monte its got 2 1/4 true dual str8t pipes.. But that sounds really deep loud and mellow
