This is my personal favorite from the group. Somewhat difficult, written and performed in Eb major. This performance shows what guys had to put up with on the Ed Sullivan Show. Song cut to 2 minutes and the final verse changed to meet Ed's censorship. Still, Gary's voice is unmatched except perhaps by Tom Jones and Civil War uniforms in pastel colors. How mod is that?
Yes!! I love this song too!! It's one of my faves!! But where the hell is the volume!!!! Such an amazing actual Live Video but really bad sound quality:( That sucks. :( Bumr......
Gary has been and always will be the kind, gentle man we've all grown to love. He likes to see himself as "Just the average guy", but with a set of "pipes" like his, he will be a music Icon for many, many years to come!
God Bless you Gary. You were awesome at the Angel's Depot benefit at The Moonlight Amphitheater in May, '2011.
Met him Saturday. He performed right in town and after the show he signed autographs. I told him Young Girl was my favorite song. He seemed flattered that I was such a fan. I was the youngest guy there getting an autograph. He asked me, "How did you discover our music?" I told him how I have no use for today's music and that I don't like it. Before I Ieft, he shook my hand, smiled, and said, "It was nice meeting you." Very nice guy.
I think its pretty awesome that Gary was considered too 'risque' for TV in the 60s. :) And dang, why does he have to be sooo incredibly sexy? Even in his civil war outfit, I'd tap that. ;)
@wouldntyoulike2know i like Gary & the Union Gap name. they sang nice love songs. those nice outfits & their clean cut image. Puckett is still performing as solo today. too bad the other guys aren't performing w/ him.
@DonLicuala it would even be nicer if all his videos would be released on DVD. just wished the whole group had continued to perform. i've read that those original members have moved on to becoming businessmen & teachers. thanks for writing. it's always nice to hear from fans w/ the same interests.****
The keyboard player (Gary Withem) was my band/music teacher in Jr. High. Didn't realize until I was older that he was in such a popular band. Good guy.
@bigbreadeaterellis /////////////////omg.....I know what you mean,,,theres a guy in CANADA,,,sings this same song in his shows people go bonkers,,,,,,,Andy Probyn hes called check it out ,,,and smile ..Hes A real MAn like you,,,,fuck those bitches,,,,,you will and do desever better.....ANdy rocks
Just like in Lady Willpower he had to change the words from "I'm afraid we'll go too far" to "how can this love of ours go on". It doesn't matter what he sings his voice is so beautiful. It's a shame artistic differences kept him from producing more music. We were cheated in my opinion. Gary you are the greatest. Did you ever record "Love Me Again" from the Nashville Now show?

this song touches my heart because last year i fell in love with a woman who turned out to be married but i never found out till it ended.
and she was the one that was telling me to forget her but i couldn't it as by then i was so in love with her.
why she did that i will never know.
this is a beautiful song btw.
