cool video...i got that kit to...but a cheap crap doublebass pedal...when i wanna play fast, it's realy hard...it feels like hitting a wall..and not like a drumskin, like on a normal drumset...can you give some tips?
wesbury acoustics don't have a great sound either. if you want a good drumset, you must pay for it, whether an acoustic kit such as a DW (5.5+ easily) or an electronic such as roland td-20, you get what you pay for.
there are electronic drums for 1.7k (td-9), but they won't sound like DW's or a Tama starclassic.
Absolutely right. The thumb and pinky have the strongest muscles attached to them out of all your fingers. It's important to use this to one's advantage to play economically.
keep all your fingers on the sticks! especially the pinky finger maybe the most important of all! Your grip isn't so hot. You have music skills just need to improve what you're doing technically.
on the contrary, the grip looked fine to me- nice and relaxed, plenty of natural movement of the stick itself. With the roland mesh heads you can get quite alot of bounce from them so you can get away with really open grips like this one. There are more grips than just matched and traditional, and long as your grip doesn't give you carpel-tunnel or tendonitis and allows you to maintain consistency and speed then i don't see a problem. Many professionals use open handed grips
lol open fingered it is then. i was just making the point that with the roland heads you dont need to use the fingers that much so it would be easy to have a loose grip like the guy in the video. when you play the v drums youll know what i'm talking about
I have TD-12 as well a 3pc early 60s Ludwig. The fact is, if the electronic kit is helping along bad habits, I for one would like someone to tell me, so I'm just being that someone....no offense to the video author, he's pretty good! But for sure there's room for improvement and I just wanted to be the one who maybe helped him round up his talents!
technique or grip arent important. the final result is whats important. even though i watched this video without any sound i thought i'd say something anyway.
mate thats actually bloody awesome, my mates just got his electric drum kit, same brand but his was a far cheaper model, this IS the shit, very nice, i see you are full of electrical inspiration! good on ya, nice vids
I dont any more, quit to run my studio full time three weeks ago - used to demo in various department stores in the uk and did a bit at the idea home show too
Supercool. You're ultra-talented, man. I was under the impression that you were a synth-geek, but drumming? Wow! Keep them coming. I love your videos.
Thanks :) No, im a Roland demonstrator/salesman so when I get time on my hands I get creative at work! I had to put off getting a kit when I moved flats, then xmas, then new year etc.. next week tho, insted of gettin TD20 which is too big, gonna get a TD12 with one or two extra PD85s and third cymbal.
