If you're referring to the dog that gets run over by the car, yes it was a real dog. They knew someone that worked at the pound that was able to get it for them (it was euthanized by the pound) John has written about how difficult it was to find a place to let it thaw, until one of the actresses agreed to let it thaw in her back yard. Then when they actually did the shot, it got caught up inside of the car and they had to pluck out the pieces and do the shot again.

My favorite! How I adored this twisted mavericks distinctly deranged brand of cinema ( not so sure about his more recent films though ), and THIS was truely his best! THIS was definately Waters funniest and most highly imaginative, conceptualy solid, thematicaly clever and scandalously outrageous movie of all!!
