  • Cool thanks

  • Got this in the tan and black version with the idea of buying tan grips to go for than learned that the grips are different than a normal 1911. Do you know if anyone makes after market grips for this gun?

  • Try eaglegrips-dot-com.

If they are not listed, call Raj or Bill and ask.

    Jeff

  • Is he a Nord?

  • Jeff,

are you ever gonna de a video on brownings 1911 .22?

  • I sure hope so.

    Jeff

  • The Chiappa 1911-22 out of the box had the rear site left / right adjustment screw fall out along with the rear sight. The sight had been spread open so it would not hold the adjustmnet screw and worse it had some type of rubber cement in the threads to try to hold the screw in. This was a new gun - un opened and in the plastic sleve. I saw this defect before I put my money down. Will not buy any Chiappa product. I had it on order and it came through Davidson Dist.

  • JEFF, I LOVE YOUR REPLY TO QUESTION IF THIS GUN IS GOOD FOR HOME DEFENSE.MY THOUGHTS TOO!! I THINK EVERY ONE IN THIS COUNTRY SHOULD OWN A GUN.HONOR THE 2ND AMMENDMENT AND WHAT THE FOREFATHERS REALLY MEANT.GUN COURSE SHOULD BE PART OF TEACHING IN ELEMENTRY SCHOOL.

JUST MY OPINION BECAUSE I LOVE THIS COUNTRY AND APPRICIATE THE ONES WHO HAVE DIED FOR ME AND MY RIGHTS!!!! LOVE YOUR REVIEWS.

  • Thanks I would want one for some squirrel control yet also for the range so defiantly would one of these

  • Is there anyway you could put 22 shorts through this? Thanks in advance

  • Yes, but you would have to manually cycle the slide, and might also have feeding issues from the magazine. However, they will fire.

    jeff

  • The Chiappa 1911-22 is worthless, DO NOT waste your money on this, I own one, its very cheaply made, and every time you load a mag it drops the slide. Plus the safety broke within the 1st 200 rounds. Going to try to trade for ANYTHING at the next gun swap.

Look into the Umarex 1911-22 much better design and construction, and without the hassle of needing a allen key to take down like the sig or gsg-1911 which field strips completely different then a standard 1911 design.

  • You should contact Chiappa. I've never had any trouble with mine, and my brother Boge has over 4,000 rounds through his with zero problems.

  • @04RL

    umarex , pifff

the german geant of airgun and airsoft

    the True ?

buy a 1911 made by colt and his 22 lr conversion

  • Hey Jeff,

Would this gun be good for home defense or would it not be powerful enough?

    Thanks!

  • It would not be my first choice, but is much better than dialing 911 and waiting for the cops to come draw a chalk line around your lifeless body. With any firearm, keep shooting until the threat is stopped.

    jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom is the barrel bushing compatible with aftermarket parts?

  • It is not.

    jeff

  • Another great video, Jeff! I was going to get a .22 for my girl for Christmas... she likes the feel of both the 1911 and the Sig Mosquito. Which do you recommend? I know the Skeeters had some jamming issues, I recon this can be fixed largely by different ammo, could be wrong. Thanks for the input!

  • I like both, but also give a reall good look at the Firestorm and Bersa 22 pistols.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom Checking them out with the girl today. Thanks Jeff!

  • @CragarShinoda i have the sig sauer 1911-22 and it is sweet the sig and gsg are manufactured together with a 30 dollar difference. The sigs have a greater fit and finish while the gsg isnt so cosmetically pretty

  • How much are these running?

  • I have one and shoots like a dream I love it... Its cool looking and fun to shoot and right on target

  • I just got one of these, exact model and everything. Have yet to shoot it but plan on it in the next day or so

  • My brother Boge has several thousand rounds through his, and he loves it.

  • i like that gun where can i buy 1 at

  • Go to lipseys-dot-com and click on the DEALER FINDER to locate a dealer in your area, or go to galleryofguns-dot-com to buy online.

  • This is going to be my first firearm

  • @supremeG1000 It was my first pistol. Love it. How do you like yours?

  • @dirkbikeman1001 Its awesome!!! just fun shooting with no recoil lol

  • Am I the only one who wishes that Jeff would come down my chimney on christmas with a bag full of ammo and goodies?

  • how was the break in period on this chiappa?

  • Right out of the box, functioning was 100% using high-velocity ammo. Low-velocity ammo sometimes would not lock the slide back on empty magazine, but still functioned very well.

I haven't shot the Chiappa a lot since my original test, as I always have to shoot somebody else's guns, but my brother Boge has run several thousand rounds through his Chiappa and he loves it.

  • @Gunblastdotcom thanks

  • So you think I should buy this or the Mark III Ruger?

  • I like both, and own both, but if i had to choose, I would get the Ruger.

    jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom Thanks Jeff. I had a Mk II years ago and it was a great gun.

  • Interesting I traded a defective Smith and Wesson 22A for a Chiappa 1911-22.

  • I just got my 1911-22, and the manual said the 150-300 rounds is considered break in period. This gun should smooth out after break in and a cleaning. I also noticed full magazines did increase the number of jams per rounds fired. I am going to try different ammo.

  • hey jeff what ammo do you reccomend for this pistol? have you shot any american eagle or winchester wildcats?

  • I prefer Winchester DynaPoint, but those others work well also, IN MY GUN. Yours might be different.

    jeff

  • how dus it feel shooting this left handed is it un comfortable cuz i dont want to get one if it is thank you

  • Feels great.

    Jeff

  • Best reviews EVER!

  • HAHAHA its Key- Appa Love your video thx man... Eric

  • after watching this and a few other vids, I made the mistake of buying a used chiappa. it was not a good experience as the gun had a major issue that rendered it totally unreliable. it looked great too! but the dealer i got it from, made it right and I now have a new smith & wesson 22a, which i am very impressed with. I still love your series here and assure you I am gonna keep watching!

  • @Joinoh It may have been Dry Fired, That will damage this gun 1st time. You never dry fire any weapon, but esp a rim fire more so!

  • In italian Chiappa means butt.

  • Not only does he make informative videos, he has a magnificent that would make Thor jealous.

  • I was wanting to know if the rear sight will interchange with a regular 1911 sight. I want to upgrade mine.

  • the video started late on your talking their Jeff.

    Is it:

    Keyappa firearms

    or

    Cheeappa?

Just curious on how to pronounce the name correctly.

  • The first one is correct.

    Jeff

  • mabey you should stop whining and just appreciate its good qualities and deal with the bad. Its a .22 what do you expect? i love it, dealt with the jams (most easily fixable) its an amazing plinker, and thats all its relley good for, is just good, all american, fun

  • @TheDesert92 made in italy lol

  • @MrJumbolegz but assembled in the US

  • loading the magazine completely full the firearm dosent load correctly, any tips on how to correct this.

  • Sounds like a defective magazine, if you are loading it to the manufacturer's stated capacity.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom both magazines to 10 rounds, the first two dont load correctly but if i only load 8 it works just fine

  • @TheDesert92 Alot of 22 lr semi-autos will not load a full magazine with the slide forward. If you want to load a full 10 round mag, you have to lock the slide back, then release it to load the first round.

  • @shredder4286 ahh, thank you

  • They need to make a Luger version of these, and cheap as well! that would be sweet! maybe GSG can make it since they're German ;D

  • I did my own quick review on a chiappa, could you make it one of your responses?

  • Comment removed

  • you look very much like my dad

  • hey jeff how much does the magazine hold?

  • Ten rounds.

  • Ive been thinking about picking up one of these, but after checking videos of people shooting them here on Youtube Im not so sure I still want it.Your video is the only one Ive seen that the chiappa doesnt have failure to feed or eject problems...

  • I love mine, but my brother (and Webmaster) Boge LOVES his. I'm always shooting everybody else's guns for testing, so I don't have time to shoot my own much, but Boge has run thousands of rounds through his Chiappa with no problems.

  • @Gunblastdotcom , thanks for your speedy response, I did end up buying the base model for $275 at my local dealer,be taking it to the range in next few days.

  • Hey Jeff do you know if they make a steel slide for the GSG .22 1911?

  • Where is this pistol made, local pawn shop has one brand new for 250.

  • Ohio.

    Jeff

  • Thanks man, your videos are good. Helped me make a few purchases.

  • Jeff, love your reviews but I sure wish you were wearing eye protection in this video.

  • hi i heard it jams alot even with cci is that true

  • Not in my experience.

  • @5446jesse619 ive ran more than a bulk box of cheapo federal thru mine with only 1 problem. sore thumbs from loading the mag

  • @5446jesse619 When I first got mine I put 300 rounds of CCI Blazer through it and had max 10 failures total.

  • What exactly is "Chiappalloy"?

  • @TheEvilX338

since the gun is made out of alloy.. that's what they call it chiappalloy.. its a nickname

  • Thanks

  • GSG or Chiappa. Which one did yo like better?

  • I have no preference between the two.

    Jeff

  • Hey Jeff would you recommend this pistol for small game hunting?

  • Yes I would. Very accurate, and reliable in my experience.

    Jeff

  • I heard if you dry fire with the chiappa 1911 is wears the gun out, so if I use "Snap Caps" will that prevent that from happening? nice beard btw

  • Snap caps are recommemded by some, but you will not harm the gun dryfiring without snap caps, unless it is the 22 LR version of their 1911. Do not dryfire the 22.

    Jeff

  • Comment removed

  • that beard is epic

  • This video makes me want to utilize a scissors

  • For what purpose?

  • @Gunblastdotcom to clip off the two spots on your beard that need trimming.

  • @rooster828 but on a serious note, have you looked into the new colt 1911 22lr? Its on their web site but not out yet is my understanding

  • I don't think my bear needs trimming, I haven't trimmed it since 1990. Sorry it bothers you.

  • @Gunblastdotcom im joking, if i could grow a beard like that im sure i would, course maybe I could if put almost 21 years into letting it grow out. I might try, let me get back to you in 2032.... so what do you know about the colt 1911 22?

  • The Colt looks good, but I have not yet had the chance to fire one.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom I Think Its wicked. I only tend to shave about once a year. Too bad up here in canada the gun laws are bullshit.

  • @Gunblastdotcom I Think Its wicked. I only tend to shave about once a year. Too bad up here in canada the gun laws are bullshit.

  • @Gunblastdotcom your beard symbolizes wisdom :)

  • Someday we'll watch him shoot his finger off.

  • If it ever happens, my brother WILL post the video.

  • Final comments about the Chiappa 1911-22. The one sold to me was a piece of crap. Cheap plastic clip was just the beginning of problems suffered in my three month ordeal with this gun from hell. Mine went back to the Ohio office and came back in worse firing order than before. I was able to trade it for something else. I am lucky. I ended up with a Browning Buckmark. Absolutely flawless... I fired a GSG 1911 at range. The GSG has way better fit and finish than Chiappa if you want 1911.

  • Mine's had almost 3,000 rounds through it with no problems whatsoever.

  • love the beard

  • a blank firing pistol chambered to 22 lr

  • I love 1911s, and I think this would be perfect for me. How do these compare to other .22 1911s?

  • Not as high quality as the tactical Solutions conversion, but nevertheless a really good choice.

    Jeff

  • i like your facial expression when you shoot :D

  • @christang721 get the GSG 1911 its around the same price and the GSG way nicer..

  • the gsg 1911 is not better ?

  • I have not fired one.

    jeff

  • walther 1911

  • I don't pretend to understand California's web of gun laws. Best to check with a local dealer, who makes it his business to know. Good luck!

  • Hello,I am wanting to buy a walther p22 , are they reliable?thanks

  • If you use high quality ammo, they work well, but are a bit finicky with the cheap stuff.

    Jeff

  • Due to your outstanding review I bought one about three weeks ago. Took it to the range and fired 300 rounds thru it. Problem that I had was that if I loaded up the magazine with more than 7 rounds the gun would stove pipe or double feed every time. Pistol has been at gunsmith since then and they believe that the magazine is faulty. Hoping to get it back soon and have the good luck with it that you have had.

  • I don't care for 1911's, but your beard is awesome. I'm only 26, but seeing your beard actually gives me something to look forward to as i age, if for only the slim chance that I may one day have a beard half as awesome as that.

  • It's not hard to do, all you have to do is quit shaving. It does take some time, though; I haven't shaved since 1978, and I haven't trimmed since 1990.

  • This is nice but colt 22. Rimfires (made by walther) just came out with a 1911 chambered in 22. So check it out

  • Excellent weapon for the $,great video, Jeff!!

  • this gun is a piece of crap

  • Its pretty amazing i have it. It was my first handgun for my 14th birthday Except for the plastic magazines

  • lol

  • Also from Dayton, and I just put 150 rounds through one of these. It's accurate and has a great feel, but there were several problems. The slide lock is weak and hardly ever locked open on empty, it double fed 6 times, and the trigger... I can see why that was given the bad part of the review. First shot was heavy, then light, then so-so.... just inconsistent.

  • They are supposed to be introducing a new model with an improved trigger. I hope so.

    Jeff

  • my dad bought this gun the backround check is in process ill let you know about it when we get it

  • Saw a review of the gun in American Rifleman, they say the trigger is awful almost 10lbs although they also mention that Chiappa says the trigger will loosen up to around 5 after a couple thousand rounds.

  • I read that also. The trigger pull on mine, as mentioned in the article, was seven pounds, ten ounces.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom cool, still a bit heavy

  • True - but it's one of the most fun pistols I own, and for just a little bit of money.

  • @Gunblastdotcom yeah the price is really nice

  • I am from Dayton, Ohio (hometown of Chiappa - North America) and recently bought one of these. Great reliability and the gun has an impressive weight and quality. I carry a Glock 36 (.45) and have always wanted a 1911. I saw this with the beautiful 1911 silhouette and was excited about the .22 caliber. My .45 is so expensive to shoot, but this is cheap and more fun. It is my new range/practice gun. Best buy ever!

  • I was at my local gun store here in missouri and saw this little gem in the case. The shop owner said he had one and took me to the range out back. One clip and I was hooked. This little gun is a WHOLE lot of fun. If you have the cash I would definately recommend owning one.

  • i just got one and its awesome

  • Great review! Know anything about the GSG 1911 .22? From what i've seen the GSG (while more expensive) looks and feels more like a original 1911, but I've never managed to get my hands on one. I own a GSG-5 so I know the Germans build a good plinker.

If you have tried both, which would you recommend? Chiappa, or GSG?

  • I have handled, but not yet fired the GSG 1911.

    Jeff

  • cci blazer works well in this gun.

  • Hey Jeff, nice video. What brand of ammunition were you running through this pistol? and have you found any that it will not cycle?

  • From the referenced review:

"With cheap bulk Federal, it worked perfectly. With cheap bulk Winchester XPert, it did as well. With the Winchester Dynapoints, it also functioned perfectly, as it did with CCI Mini-Mags. Feeding with everything was perfect, and only two stovepipe jams were experienced with the low-velocity stuff."

  • I got one of these guns on the way to my local gunshop.I cant wait to shoot it.

  • Thank you. I like Ruger anyway, my first gun was a 10/22 so I know how good their quality is.

  • Hey Mr. Quinn, what is better, a 1911-22 or a Ruger Mark III target? The reason im asking is my friends dad hates his Mark III target and he might sell it to me for a cheap price. I like 1911-22s more but im not sure if this gun has optics rails. If not, would Colt rails fit on this? The reason I said that is the Mark 3 weighs in at about 3 pounds so I was wondering if thats too heavy for someone in the 10-14 age zone? Thanks

  • Both are good, but I would get the mark III. It is probably the best .22 pistol ever made.

    Jeff

  • I always like watching your reviews, being a lefty shooter. Keep it up and keep pointing out pros-cons for we lefties...

  • Have you all had any reliability issues with this since you got it? I'm going to pick one up here pretty soon and I've only heard good things.

  • None at all, it's still working great. My brother Boge has put a couple thousand rounds through his.

  • this seems like a cool pistol, ive been thinking it over on weither or not i should get one.I got rid of a star 9mm 1911 5 yrs a go,now i want another 1911 that is afordable to shoot.

  • Can you recommend a good 1911 22 cal pistol?

  • I really like the Chiappa.

    Jeff

  • Chiappa is using the Italian Kimar 1911 8mm blank firing system to build this 22. The hammer rests in the same position when it's cocked, and the gun overall looks exactly like the Kimar/Bruni blank pistol. Chiappa even sells some of Kimar's blank pistols on the website.

  • IS THE RECOIL HARD LIKE A 45.?

  • No, it's soft like a .22.

  • handled one the other day at the local shop, they just feel cheap, and dont look much better.you can see the casting lines on every thing(hammer, trigger slide)kinda like a prop gun, maybe it preforms better then it feels.

  • It performs beautifully.

  • I've heard the same thing about the other dedicated .22 1911 coming out (the GSG 1911). Cast lines everywhere. But that's what's expected of a ~$300 pistol.

  • i heard that the finish comes off is that true?

  • I have had no problems with the finish on mine, nor has my brother Boge had any problems with his (and he shoots his a LOT). However, we have worn the finish off of many guns, so it would not be unusual.

    Jeff

  • Does this take most .22ammo? I know certain semi auto work alot better with CCI like the GSG's do...will is function well using federal, remington, basic walmart stuff?

  • Yes it will. Please read the full review.

    Jeff

  • i have this its really light and very reliable

  • is the grips the same as a 1911

  • Yes they is.

    Jeff

  • Hmm... is it all steel?

  • From the review:

"The slide and frame are made of a non-ferrous alloy, probably zinc based, but has steel inner components for strength."

  • I may know then what brand actually builds it.

Chiappa is an actual Italian brand, though this very blank firing replica has been built by Bruni for a decade now.

They just dropped a steel lining barrel and some other steel parts in it, but that doesn't change much.

  • I'm going to get one. Thanks for the overview.

  • I look at one today and i have to say it is a good looking 22lr. They wanted $270.00 for it which i thought was real good.

  • how much rounds it hold?

  • Specs 10+1, although my mag runs reliably with 11 in the mag.

  • how much

  • MSRP is $299.

  • interesting. ive never heard of this and now im thinking of getting one. again a great review, you put in this video all the info i need where as other people need 10 times the time. its good that you review these types of firearms that are not in the mainstream market, yet they are legitimate great working, well engineered firearms, great work!

  • For even more details, read the review at gunblast-dot-com.

  • Jeff Quinn is such a badass! If him and nutnfancy met up during the zombie apocalypse, the zombies wouldn't stand a chance.
