I was responding to an earlier post which stated that africans are the only people who bleached their skin to look lighter. I was basically saying all non white ethnicities have tendencies of bleaching to look whiter..yes that means indians, south east asians, filipinos whatever. If the woman who I sympathize with were in government, she would do something good, but for you- drive the ground deeper into the ground. Someone replied that Igbos are very industrious,hence Nollywood though its mainly Igbo culture. English speaking Africa and even some Francophones love Nollywood and according to you "stick to their problems" i.e. own videos. Many Africans stuck with South Africa until freedom so Nigeria is no exception!

Perhaps it would be more beneficial to focus on the substance of this video rather than skin tones and trying to find out who bleaches their skin or what their cultural identity is. This woman is undertaking positive change in Nigeria. She is to be applauded for her actions, not condemned for her appearance.

Yea- I never understood that- I am Nigerian- an Igbo- both of my parents are fairly light- and so am I- I have been asked if I bleached or if I was half white- people back home should understand that mixing had gone on in Nigeria for centuries w/ all the Europeans who came & lived there for a while- so some of us can be light without chemicals and even without being directly half white- obviously somewhere down my family bloodline is European ancestry- No bleaching needed

@redboneafricana86 As an Igbo you should not believe light skin necessarily comes from admixture, some might but Africans have been light from time, Kung bushmen are light, so are pygmies, they are the oldest Africans. Alot from rain forest areas of Africa have this complexion, European ancestry does not always come into the equation..
