They are in my garden every year.Heals my soul to hear the song. This last while one is bravely coming to my deck and to the window.I checked with Animal Totem.Sing your song in all you do.Assertion. Sparrow aids us to open our eyes and find self worth. Some of the attributes of Sparrow.
Thanks for the upload. This is my favorite Sparrow song. They are all over Kentucky, hear them and see them here in Marion County all the time. This is actually my favorite Sparrow, with the Field Sparrow being my second.
I played it while playing videos of bird songs for my cat and when she saw the bird on the screen she came off my lap and went right up to the screen staring at the bird. She rubbed her paw on the screen and tried biting it in the screen too. She even checked behind the computer to see if the bird was behind my computer. Poor gal didnt realized it was a videotaped bird. She was very confused afterward.
This video reminds me of that old gospel song, His eye is on the sparrow that reminds us even if God takes the time to look after a tiny sparrow, He takes care of His children too.
One of these guys has taken a liking to a certain window of my house. He perches on the outer window sill and hops around, sometimes pecking the glass.
hah, cute. So did my ex-girlfriends, and on her head sometimes...but his fave place was in between her bra! It was so cute. Clip their flying feathers and they cant fly away.
The song sparrow's song has been my favorite since childhood, followed by the wood thrush, of course. Where did you make this video? I've noticed they have different regional 'accents.'
You know what I LOVE about this video? The fact that after he sings his little song, he pauses & looks around [like he's looking for that special mate] & the look on his face seems to be, 'Any takers?? Anyone interested enough to call back?'
I did read them. I just like the look on his face, it's really cute. I just remember that these birds were very common when I was a child. I heard their songs all the time, now I never do. I get the feeling unlike house sparrows, they don't do well in the suburbs.
I hae since found out that house sparrows are not native to the United States but were brought over here from England. They're actually very aggressive birds compared to say bluebirds which used to be the State Bird Of Massachusettes.[many, many years ago] When house sparrows were introduced, they were effective in destroying bluebirds nests & driving them away. [territorial little buggers]
Ohhhh, If I saw that I think I might cry as I'm a sucker for anything little & cute. :) This website says HS are actually Old World Weaver Finches where the male's bond for his nesting site is actually stronger than his bond for his mate. I'll have to look up your tree swallow series cause I'm sure it's really good~
Yeah they are from Europe. Oh yeah they fight for the box. We did haev Blue Birds that checked it out, then the first Sparrow was successfully killed, then the Swallows took over...for a long time, had 5 babies..then another HS started attacking...believe me we did more to try to kill it too.
Thank you. Lovely quality video, and fascinating. Where was your bird filmed? Although a familiar and favorite songbird, I've never had the privelege of watching one so closely as it sings. These videos should be of great interest to birders.
Lovely! =)

How did you get such good quality footage? Most songbirds are too wary of humans to get that close!

I explain in the comments...
This shot was taken up close (within 5 feet).
I taped an earlier song from her and then played it back to attract her closer, and it worked!

Oh yeah I already read all about em. Have you seen my Tree Swallow series?
The House Sparrows killed them! Those birds will build a nest right on top of the dead birds.
I tried to get the sparrows with a BB gun to no avail. The last baby swallow stepped out right into my hand!
