anybody know what kind of pickups Oz Noy uses in this video? I read somewhere that he uses Dimarzio Area 58's or custom shop 59's. Which one in this video?
Well, I've seen DW play many times, and for me, this is a very refreshing change from all the constant chop stuff he normally does. It's nice to hear him laying down some Phat grooves. I'm diggin it! Gotta see what Vinnie does with it though.
Of all the drummers I have heard playing with Oz Noy in this style..Dave Weckl is the one who have solved the understanding of the spirit and loose grooving..absolutely worst.
Weckl is a master-drummer...but this shit with Oz stinks....to much stinking back beat....
I am the big Weclk fan and saw em in Catalinain 2008 at this very show and was quite disappointed too. Weckl just does not get that type of music. Colaiuta and Fig do on the other hand.
You don't see Weckl play with a lot of guitar players...at a DWB show when he was introducing Buzz Feiten, he said that he didn't like guitar in general, but Buzz was so great etc.
Wonder what he thinks of Oz...I would think he would dig it cuz of Oz's time feel and funk...

I think its because Dave has deeper pockets than most drummers on the planet.
