The dialogue may have been butchered a little in the dubbed version, but the music pretty much makes up for that in my book. What I am still trying to figure out though is how some people think this music is very "child-like". Someone elaborate for me?
I don't agree with that. I think the english ruined the series with corny lines and although the music is decent, I don't think it compares to the original at all. But you have to think about. A teenage drama that's animated wouldn't have appealed to an American audience like it does today. It's sort of thanks to Sailor Moon that anime is the way it is now. If it wasn't for it being a kids show I would've never become interested in it. I agree the storyline is much deeper in the original but the American did a good job. It had a big impact on my life, like in school I got A's on everything planet related since I got into it from this show/

Uh no, I own the movies and so does my cousin. They have the exact sounds you hear in this video right now. There was three of them and I own two of them and my cousins owns them all. This is the music they play.
I have the oriignal VHS versions not dvd so there is no way for me to that without trying to find them. The music was used in all three movies and this is technically not the first movie.

I remember hearing this music in one of the sailor moon movies lots of years ago and being obsessed with it as well as the bgm for the sailor scout transformations; this song exists nowhere else online so i would suggest trying to download this video so that you can at least have the audio
Mercury's transformation is unique from the other inner Senshi in that the camera shows the full body, then zooms in, as opposed to the camera focusing on the shoes and moving upwards, which is what the other inner Senshi have. Just something I noticed.
I LOVE THIS SONG! I used to love rewinding the movie(s) just to hear the battle music x3 I hate it how on the R movie though, they had different, more emotionally songs for it but then they changed it back to the japanese music -_-
I love that battle song too! But it doesnt seem to be on any of the albums. The Full Moon collection, which is the only one that has BGM is totally incomplete.
I wish cartoon network kept the dic music when they dubbed S and Super S instead of keeping the original japanese audio. I just think the Dic music was better.

I am sorry, but it is kind of hard to take an anime seriously when the original Japanese music cues (all that la la la music) does nothing but make you imagine people frolicking through a field of flowers in a land of rainbows and unicorns *twitch twitch*. At least with DiC music, they composed something that basically said "hey it is time to kick some ass".
I will agree with you for the most part that the Japanese version of Sailor Moon music is artistic. That I will not doubt the least.
Do not get me wrong, I am not exactly dissing the Japanese music in general. All I am saying is that the placement of calm music in an action scene just seems to make the action scenes way too cheesy for my preference. But then again, we all have our preferences.

This very scene is a good example of that (the entire scene, not just the transformations). I liked the music. But it just wasn't fitting for a fight scene (even if it was a fight against giant bonbon babies lol).
I think that the DiC version is better then all the other dubs. I got dissapointed when they changed their voices cuz they got a diff company to dub it. Their original voices were the best!
Actually, it should be noted that most of (85%) of the dic music is performed electronically (not w/ real instruments) as opposed to the Japanese version which used orchestras. Not saying I don't like the dic music, just stating a fact.
Another interesting fact that probably should be noted is that some of the DiC BGM was adapted from Arisawa's original scores. If you're familiar with the Japanese BGM and you watch some scenes from a DiC episode, you'll hear it. Probably why Arisawa is credited in the DiC episodes.
My opinion, though...music is only as good as the person who wrote it. Doesn't matter if s/he's working with the best musicians, a Yamaha Motif ES, or ProTools.

Yeah, I agree. The DiC dub actually didn't bother me all that much, the quality of the voice acting was reasonably good, especially for an anime that was only airing on cartoon network (in the U.S.)and stuff.
Overall though, I think the japanese version is far superior. But I like looking back at the DiC dub, it makes me remember rushing home from school every day to catch the newest episode.

There were 2 versions of the English dubbed movies. Some of them contained the original Japanese music and the others had the DiC music. And don't feel stupid. The reason I know this is because I've been obsessed with Sailor Moon for more than 10 years. I know way too much about that show. :-)
oh i know the feeling i'm working on a fanfic of Sailor Moon that's a cross over with a few other show's that are based off of the anime version not the manga it's better for a story line... i just wish that i could get all the sound effects from the attacks and trasformation so i could mix and mach them for my fafic... you know anyone that could help me out?
I don't know where to get any voices. But the background music and sound effects are available at sailormusic (dot) net. But you'd have to do some digging. They have a lot of stuff available.
I love both DiC and original Japanese music but I have to say this is my favourite Sailor Moon song! The DiC is befitting of the dub and the original befits the Japanese version. Except the S season because that has the best music! ^_^

I don't think this is DiC music.
DiC did the dubbing for the first season and the R season, and probably the R season movie too.
However, Cloverway took over the S and SuperS seasons and the subsequent movies. Cloverway took (for the most part) the same voice actors, but I think they tended to do a better part concerning consistency with the Japanese anime...well, better than DiC anyway.

You're right about the TV series. However, ALL THREE MOVIES were released by Pioneer. They released two versions of each movie. One was an edited/cut version that had the DiC music cues (shown on TV). The other was an uncut version that had the Japanese music. Both had the same voice track.
The movies were dubbed a couple of years before S and SuperS were dubbed.

They didn't get the movies. The DiC era ended with 'Follow The Leader'.
Pioneer released the movies (both versions). Cloverway, Inc. was also involved with the movies also (both versions).

i love dic vison then cloverway srly thye made usagi too high and chibiusa (with done by sugar) i hate sugar voice rini wish they kept like from dic one

Yeah, I agree. The DiC dub actually didn't bother me all that much, the quality of the voice acting was reasonably good, especially for an anime that was only airing on cartoon network (in the U.S.)and stuff.
Overall though, I think the japanese version is far superior. But I like looking back at the DiC dub, it makes me remember rushing home from school every day to catch the newest episode.

There were 2 versions of the English dubbed movies. Some of them contained the original Japanese music and the others had the DiC music. And don't feel stupid. The reason I know this is because I've been obsessed with Sailor Moon for more than 10 years. I know way too much about that show. :-)

oh i know the feeling i'm working on a fanfic of Sailor Moon that's a cross over with a few other show's that are based off of the anime version not the manga it's better for a story line... i just wish that i could get all the sound effects from the attacks and trasformation so i could mix and mach them for my fafic... you know anyone that could help me out?

I don't know where to get any voices. But the background music and sound effects are available at sailormusic (dot) net. But you'd have to do some digging. They have a lot of stuff available.

DiC did seasons 1&2. Cloverway did 3&4. Pioneer and Cloverway did the movies.

I love both DiC and original Japanese music but I have to say this is my favourite Sailor Moon song! The DiC is befitting of the dub and the original befits the Japanese version. Except the S season because that has the best music! ^_^

I don't think this is DiC music.
DiC did the dubbing for the first season and the R season, and probably the R season movie too.
However, Cloverway took over the S and SuperS seasons and the subsequent movies. Cloverway took (for the most part) the same voice actors, but I think they tended to do a better part concerning consistency with the Japanese anime...well, better than DiC anyway.

You're right about the TV series. However, ALL THREE MOVIES were released by Pioneer. They released two versions of each movie. One was an edited/cut version that had the DiC music cues (shown on TV). The other was an uncut version that had the Japanese music. Both had the same voice track.
The movies were dubbed a couple of years before S and SuperS were dubbed.
