Standard Police procedure to me. Reports of man armed with a gun. The officer need to effectively take him down. He was too slow so the kick in the face got him down quickly and arrest was made. Good job. I am glad the officers are safe and did not get shot. Criminals are criminals and only they are responsible for violating their own rights. My rights is the right to live in a safe society and no criminal should take that away from me.

The RCMP claimed he wasn't complying then eyewitnesses said he was so they changed their story to he was beating up his wife and waving a shotgun at her.
His ex-wife came forward and said he'd not only never laid a hand on her, she'd never called the cops and no such incident happened.
The BC Civil Liberties Association are pursuing a lawsuit against the RCMP not only for the assault but for their smear campaign against the victim.

I recently got a $236 speeding ticket for passing a parked police car doing 80 kph in a (normally) 90kph zone, even though I left a whole empty lane between myself and the parked car. There is a recommendation that the officer be charged with assault. (from an outside investigation). Hopefully the right thing will be done and he will be sent for trial.
What happens at trial is a whole different thing. How many police officers have either been found not guilty or pleaded out of the original charge? Unfortunately, quite a few.

The RCMP claimed he wasn't complying then eyewitnesses said he was so they changed their story to he was beating up his wife and waving a shotgun at her.
His ex-wife came forward and said he'd not only never laid a hand on her, she'd never called the cops and no such incident happened.
The BC Civil Liberties Association are pursuing a lawsuit against the RCMP not only for the assault but for their smear campaign against the victim.

2-Would Constable Mantler not think the injuries he had caused Mr Tavares would require a cervical collar, just to protect his possibly injured neck/spine? My industrial first aid training included a cervical collar for ANY head trauma, no matter how minimal it appeared.

There is a recommendation that the officer be charged with assault. (from an outside investigation). Hopefully the right thing will be done and he will be sent for trial.
What happens at trial is a whole different thing. How many police officers have either been found not guilty or pleaded out of the original charge? Unfortunately, quite a few.
The RCMP have completely lost the respect and trust of a lot of Canadians. They need to change, starting right at the top.

This is happening all across Canada, i was attacked by 4 rcmp because i asked them what was going on, on the street infront of my business. Later they charged me with assault, even though i was the one covered with bruises, my lawyer said i had to plead guilty or face the consequences of a criminal record, Me, a business owner against 4 crown witness's. (The 4 R.C.M.P.) and that's how they do it. That man was on his KNEES hardly fighting back, no high speed chase, BAM, Good Job Robo Cop.

He should then face criminal charges that lead to jail time.
He should then be sued by Buddy and have the millions of dollars in damages taken not from tax payers but from the salaries of the R.C.M.P.
They should set aside a portion of their pensions to pay for assault charges and deaths.
