These Valvetronix amps are the biggest joke I have ever seen. The overdrive is complete crap. They want you to think you are buying a tube amp for a low price. Truth is, it might as well be a tiny 12ax7 light bulb in there. This is what the guitar gods made when they woke up in the morning and took a big fat shit!
I think the demo is fine. Amp sounds good. I have one. Crazy what one tube........... ( 12AX7 ) can do. It's no Marshall or Boogie but good bang for the buck. The layman's ear doesn't care. I have yet to have an audience member walk up and say the amp sucks. They're too busy clapping and whistling.
There modelling amps are fun to play with but are really just toys. Most of the goodness of a tube amp comes from the power tubes not the pre amp tubes.
I get a crackling noise when playing this amp. I use the noise gate, but it still does it (and i don't even think it has to do with the noise gate). How do I stop it?
Modeling amps are getting better...but not quite there. The cleans in this video are good, but the overdrive tones are horrible. If the hybrid amps could lose that harsh, tinny overdrive I would buy one in a heartbeat.
@murfdog19 The reason these overdrives sound like crap is probably because he did no EQ'ing. I own this amp, and trust me, the overdrives and distortions are amazing.
@TylerVanderkooy Okay, that's good to know. I may have played one at Guitar Center once, but I can't remember if it was the VT. I haven't owned a solid state amp since I was a little kid, but I would like to buy a modeling amp for practice and studio work. How does this compare to the Fender G DEC? I have the vt 50,i'm still trying to figure it out,has excellent clean and power, the sustain possibilities are great, what i don't like is i believe they are built with cheap labor and are prone to break down,i bought it used, looked pristene condition (8 months old) the plug in had an issue that popped up in the first week and it costed me 140 dollars***so watch out*** and i'm still upset about the extra cost... i mention this so others wont go through this....BEWARE !!!!
Hi! I am from Bosnia, I bought your VOX VT 100, and I must say that I am so glad and satisfied, It's loud, the tone is great, but I have a question!? I bought the VFS5 footswitch, and there are 8 stored sounds/programs, whatever.. Is it the same 8 programs, sounds on every VT series, or it isn't, because if it is I would like to know wich amp models did you use on the stored effects/programs. I would like to know wich amp model is on ch. 4 in first bank, the red bank, the tone is amazing! thanks
@RijadHabibovic I am sorry, I think it's the green bank, first bank, ch.4. Really nice distortion/overdrive, I would be pleased if you could tell me witch amp models, parameters did you use in all 8 stored programs. and sorry for my bad english.
I see all of these reviews of these fancy amps and I'll still put my Marshall 1987X MKII slammed with my DOD 250 any day. If you're going to spend huge bucks on an amp just make it a Marshall and be done with it.
@AceOfHeart2012 I think the point of these amps is to get a wide range of sounds without having to buy a bunch of $200 pedals. I agree that a nice Marshall (NOT an MG series!!!) would sound better, but it's going to be a bigger investment in the long run.
I had a choice between the VT100 or the Blackheart BH 100 amp head to buy today. I went with the VT100. Yes, I know that tube amps are warmer, and have better tone, but I feel with the VT100 I will spend less time on maintenance that tube amps eventually require. IMO, this is a very good combo amp for the money and you can hook it up to a speaker cabinet. Peace!
I bought a VT100 as apposed to the valve king series from Peavey. Im not knocking the valveking series at all, im just saying check these amps out, I was never disapointed
Just bought the 15 watt version as a little practice amp..I must say..IT ROCKS!!..I love that you can turn down the watts and crank it and bring the tube sound out!...I LOVE THE THING! =]
The problem i have with Vox is lack of customer support. After 3 months of people asking for their own section in the forum for the VT+ series, there was no reply from vox. ANYONE who has ever ran a forum, knows it takes about 10 minutes tops to create a new forum and assign permissions. This is inexcusable to make customers wait so long for a forum where they can discuss their newest purchases and share settings etc. After seeing how long Vox had ignored their customers I took my VT+ back.
Hi, just took delivery of my VT100, my first impression is its very bassy, and i cant seem to get any of them crunchy sounds from it, the 'enter sandman' setting is just not enterring the sandman. sounds quite muddy. could there be a fault on my amp
@maidenman74 yeh it take abit of getting used to, theres no fault, it sounds that way :( although you can get some awesome crunchy tones just switch to the UK modern and adjust the gain to what you want, then put you treble around 7 and you bass around 5 and mids about 4-5 too and about 3 reverb, and adjust any effects you want, you can use Us '90s model too that gives abit more crunch with those settings but not as much gain, hope it helped man
@RGuitarAxel , Thanks mate. After tinkering for a while i must say that the Slash and Brian May settings are absolutely awesome and sound almost spot on, shame i dont though.
I think you've all missed the main point here. Aside from now being sold on the amp (I tried it out last week at my local guitar shop- and it really is great), the faces Freddy makes are absolutely priceless. If this amp makes me do those rock and roll faces, it's worth every penny.
All, can anyone explain me .. Can we use the same "VT Valvetronix" which used in this video for ACOUSTIC GUITAR also ? Is there a way to use this amp for Acoustic guitar also ? I tried it but no sound was coming from AMP .. Please advice.. thanks in advance !!!!...
@musicfan101ful buy the vox vt footswitch and and change the channels, with the factory settings channel 1 is clean and 3-4 are overdriven, or you can just press the button on the amp
@lordsombre you can get some good metal sounds you have to fiddle threw it a bit though, and a bit of advice I find that if you want it to be clear and make it not sound like ," it has a blanket over it" is tilt the amp up a bit or get a stand that tilts it up and it will sound fine I'll try to get a video up of this amp and play some metaly kinda stuff to show the world
All I can say about the VT100, if you're serious about buying one, an EQ pedal in the FX loop is heavily recommended. The VT100's own EQ is extremely muddy and sounds like there's a blanket over the amp. With an EQ pedal, it will clear up all of the bass so you can create a tone that is clear and cuts through. Otherwise you're likely to be very disappointed.
I got one of these amps not to long ago and I love it, the presets are a little iffy but with some small changes in bass and treble and you can get any sound you want , I play metal and I can get some really nice deep distorted sounds out of this.
@Classix1969 im not sure if you own one of these amps but you can get amazing tube tones from it, it's a tube amp so you only get the tube tone when you turn up your volume, you can also change the amount of watts it uses so can play turn it up on full volume at pratice volumes, but if you're talking about the video tone the metal tone is ok but vox guitars aren't very metal so it sounds alittle fuzzy

There is just something I don't know do you need to change the tubes?

Is the vt40+ enough to play with drum in pubs or small locals?? or is the vt50 better??
ArtPolo1990 11 months ago
@ArtPolo1990 on the vt20+ you can crank the wattage up to 30 watts.
I think you can crank the vt40+ to 50.
liamzuid 10 months ago

4 in first bank, the red bank, the tone is amazing! thanks
RijadHabibovic 11 months ago
@RijadHabibovic I am sorry, I think it's the green bank, first bank, ch.4. Really nice distortion/overdrive, I would be pleased if you could tell me witch amp models, parameters did you use in all 8 stored programs. and sorry for my bad english.

I think he has sex with that guitar... the facial expressions give it away.

Is there any way to turn the modeling completely off?
nstermn2 11 months ago
I see all of these reviews of these fancy amps and I'll still put my Marshall 1987X MKII slammed with my DOD 250 any day. If you're going to spend huge bucks on an amp just make it a Marshall and be done with it.
AceOfHeart2012 11 months ago
@AceOfHeart2012 I think the point of these amps is to get a wide range of sounds without having to buy a bunch of $200 pedals. I agree that a nice Marshall (NOT an MG series!!!) would sound better, but it's going to be a bigger investment in the long run.
nstermn2 11 months ago
@nstermn2 I can agree with that.

@nstermn2 I can agree with that.

I wonder how this amp would sound next to my peavey classic 50 or my marshall dsl

Peace!

Hi I hope someone can help me, what is better a 10 inch or 12 inch speaker in a 30watt amp.
6stringsoffaith 1 year ago
@6stringsoffaith 12" will always provide a fuller range at any wattage.
AceOfHeart2012 11 months ago
I bought a VT100 as apposed to the valve king series from Peavey. Im not knocking the valveking series at all, im just saying check these amps out, I was never disapointed
StephenFiorentini 1 year ago

Hi, just took delivery of my VT100, my first impression is its very bassy, and i cant seem to get any of them crunchy sounds from it, the 'enter sandman' setting is just not enterring the sandman. sounds quite muddy. could there be a fault on my amp
maidenman74 1 year ago
@maidenman74 yeh it take abit of getting used to, theres no fault, it sounds that way :( although you can get some awesome crunchy tones just switch to the UK modern and adjust the gain to what you want, then put you treble around 7 and you bass around 5 and mids about 4-5 too and about 3 reverb, and adjust any effects you want, you can use Us '90s model too that gives abit more crunch with those settings but not as much gain, hope it helped man
RGuitarAxel 1 year ago
@RGuitarAxel , Thanks mate. After tinkering for a while i must say that the Slash and Brian May settings are absolutely awesome and sound almost spot on, shame i dont though.

WHAT KINDA METAL PLAYING WAS THAT?

I think you've all missed the main point here. Aside from now being sold on the amp (I tried it out last week at my local guitar shop- and it really is great), the faces Freddy makes are absolutely priceless. If this amp makes me do those rock and roll faces, it's worth every penny.

is there a way where i can switch from clean to overdrive?
musicfan101ful 1 year ago
@musicfan101ful buy the vox vt footswitch and and change the channels, with the factory settings channel 1 is clean and 3-4 are overdriven, or you can just press the button on the amp

SH4RK136 1 year ago
@lordsombre you can get some good metal sounds you have to fiddle threw it a bit though, and a bit of advice I find that if you want it to be clear and make it not sound like ," it has a blanket over it" is tilt the amp up a bit or get a stand that tilts it up and it will sound fine I'll try to get a video up of this amp and play some metaly kinda stuff to show the world
TylarBoyle 1 year ago
All I can say about the VT100, if you're serious about buying one, an EQ pedal in the FX loop is heavily recommended. The VT100's own EQ is extremely muddy and sounds like there's a blanket over the amp. With an EQ pedal, it will clear up all of the bass so you can create a tone that is clear and cuts through. Otherwise you're likely to be very disappointed.
UberNinjabreadman 1 year ago
I got one of these amps not to long ago and I love it, the presets are a little iffy but with some small changes in bass and treble and you can get any sound you want , I play metal and I can get some really nice deep distorted sounds out of this.

how do u get the songs to play through the actull amp im not sure if the song actully plays or its just the effects of how the guy actully plays it??
speedygonzalez23 1 year ago
the gain tones sound like shit, typically solid state
Classix1969 1 year ago
@Classix1969 im not sure if you own one of these amps but you can get amazing tube tones from it, it's a tube amp so you only get the tube tone when you turn up your volume, you can also change the amount of watts it uses so can play turn it up on full volume at pratice volumes, but if you're talking about the video tone the metal tone is ok but vox guitars aren't very metal so it sounds alittle fuzzy
