  • The singing in the church by both adults and children is beautiful. Justin, I have just discovered your lessons site and as an intermediate guitar player who has been out of practice for a few years (and rusty), your site is a real blessing. Atheist or not (I'm a devout Christian lol) you have a huge heart and seem like a really nice guy. That you went to church for your friends and the kids is heartwarming. Thanks for sharing and for being truthful about yourself. Peace!

  • many people are not going as christians as much as you think. there is a large group that have intentions of abolishing the africans faith in jesua christ and replace it with the new age. you know, worship yourself, the universe, rocks, rats, anything but god. this is a very big movement. many of them are void of love. the bible says give in secret. I think you didn't expect to find these people full of pride. look at their clothing. the band you were not worshiped. jesus does give life. see it?

  • I love the people of Ghana. Soo friendly.

  • this video was wicked. everythin bout it was awesome. hopefully bookin a 6 month volunteer holiday in ghana with volunterrhq.. anybody know any real cheap places to book with??

  • I think that everyone on this earth should get the opportunity to experience CHRISTMAS IN AFRICA. it is one of the best thing in the world and it will make you want to be an african for life. GOOO AFRICA, SOMEDAY WE WILL RISE FROM THE CLUTCH OF THE WEST AND WONT NEED THEIR CHERITY ANY LONGER. cant wait for that day

  • Rob them blind, give them the old jesus malarkey. Works every time. The western world has a lot to answer for.I lived in the third world i have six children from there, pity there's no God for the western world to answer to.

  • wow what amazing people!!!

  • faith is more abundant in those with fewer resources. the wealthy and brainwashed put their heart into the material things they acquire. simplicity brings forth "gifts of the spirit" and one of them is self-expression.

this video brings back memories of my 2-month visit to West Africa 15 years ago. If only I had a video camera back then.

  • I'll add you to my prayer list Justin. I am struck by the massive belief in Jesus that these poverty stricken people have. It's like the Gospel music that came out of the south in America during slavery. Their faith is amazing! Thank you for this.

  • the preacher is amazing

  • Oh yes... I am familiar with people dancing in the church... did the same last year :D

  • i love how these people's life is so based on music..

  • ohhh ghana i love yuhh <33

  • Fu Fu is probably the coolest name ever :D

  • its also a food too and you should try it sometime its really good

  • Looks it was like a beautiful trip.

Hope I'm not being pushy for asking, but:

Anyone know when justin is going to do some more guitar vids?

  • Awesome! Thank you Justin.

  • not enough Ewe in this video

  • awesome Justin! I really wish there were more people like you.

  • Africa gets in your blood.. You will return... To REAL LIFE !

  • but i stay in Accra

  • even though these people dont have much of materialistic things but they are so lively. I think we Americans is poorer in liveliness than these great people. they seems to be happier to be alive

  • I'd say that ethic, civic behavior, manners and personal care have to be added along math geo and BIO etc etc and the who knows existent person RIGTH AT THE END!

  • great video Justin. we can see the joy in their faces, their faith brings them hope... and pulls their community together.

  • brilliant video mate, thanks for sharing, on the point of religion or not, all religions are ethical rules for use to live out lives farely and keeping our minds healthy, problem accures when you over worship and lose tolerance, I am more pagan respecting earth

  • Justin, I truly admire you for your work. You play guitar on a prof. level, share your knowledge on youtube and use your enthusiasm to bring geo-social issues to ppls attention.

Learned heaps from you, one day I'll be ready for a coproduction with you. Can't wait! Cheers from Berlin, Antill

  • great

  • A question to anyone in the know:

I have always wished to visit Africa for a holiday and of all the countries therein Ghana has been at the top of my list. If I were to go I wondered, if traveling as an independant private person, what sorts of giveaways I should prioritize and what hassle to expect bringing this stuff into the country. I would think that non-description drugs (paracetamol, et al), basic first-aid items and antiseptics would be start. Any suggestions or advice, good people?

  • Justin thanks for sharing your Holiday trip with us. What a great way to spend Christmas!

  • very true...at any rate... all prefixes, suffixes, and semantics put aside..this video shows a person visititng a differnet cultue bearing gifts and partaking in their way of life..i would say imho a demonstration of love

  • That is a statement that I agree with in full, ruffido! Have a good night, amigo.

  • the suffix ism usually denotes dogma

  • The prefix a- usually denotes the lack of, especially in this case. But semantics is not the issue. There are many interesting pieces on atheism available, also on YouTube. Take a look at some of more serious, considered commentaries and you would be hard-pushed to label these as dogmatic.

  • atheism is just as dogmatic as any religion..both claim to have the truth..i am agnostic

  • Atheists and believers both lay claim to the truth, that does not make atheists dogmatic. Atheism is anti-dogmatic, that's sort of the point.

  • atheism is not dogmatic. Atheists do not claim to have the truth, theists do

  • I have a lot of respect for atheists, it must take a lot of faith. Peace!

  • like faith in yourself and your family?

  • Thanks.

  • Justin I have the highest reguards for you. Keep up the great work, the more I know you thru your guitar teachings and other videos the more I appreciate what you do.

    Thanks again,

    Brad

  • ooh. nice debate

  • justin, how do you feel about christianity? or would you rather not talk about that as it might upset a lot of your fans?

  • Justin is, like me, an atheist, as he clearly stated, an strong in his conviction. This means that he is opposed to ALL organised religion. He is also a sensitive person whom would prefer not to offend people out of hand. A YouTube debate on this topic would be polemic, unfruitful and detract from his message of humanity.

  • i agree with parts of what u said. but at the same time, if you listen to richard dawkins (for those of you who don't know he is a famous atheist)he tells other atheists to "come out of the closet" with their atheism which justin has done. it might polarize his fans, at the same time, it might help others who are "on the fence" become more confident in their beliefs.and if a christian fan is going to be offended to the point that he no longer can respect justin, that wouldn't be justins fault.

  • thanks for the reply, marc, we read from the same page! it is important to not be ashamed or reticent about atheism and to be brave about it. the question is, is it appropriate. i am unreservedly opposed to religion but i need to respect others faiths, otherwise i am no better than the religous nutters that i so despise. i don't believe that getting into personal debates is beneficial, people simply become more entrenched in what they already believe. i do long for a world free from superstion.

  • why does it matter, I not christian and i don't mind if people or friends are.

  • I also are well aquainted with Christians whom I respect and admire. Religion does matter, however; people are slaughtered in droves in the name of or under the pretext of religion. Innapropriate people are elected to to high office largely according to religious orientation and wreak havoc. Being tolerant is not the same as indifference.

  • I hardly keep my atheism a secret, I mention it in the video, there are atheism links on my site and my current fave videos on my youtube channel include more than a few atheist vids.

However, many of my Ghanaian friends that will watch this are christian (they know my beliefs) and I don't wish to make a point of it here from a video about them! I also don't feel like making point out of it here in a comments thread. There is a great debate on the forum for those that are interested. J

  • I am also atheist but never speak of it in public due to living in the bible belt of the USA. Wouldn't go over to well in my area of the world.

  • Following the journey, MORE please.

  • you're cool man, I really respect what you're doing, and you're a GREAT guitarist!

  • you are such a nice person shud be saint justin lol i bet that was the best christmas looks like a lotta fun
