i think they have known the other for quite some time...i know he's worked with john on some of his earlier solo albums..i have no idea..awhile though..& I know he's (josh) has worked with the butthole surfers and stuff as well...

@DimebagsLeftToe I'm thinking they met in 1999 or maybe even before. Josh was the musical genius behind one of John's friends Bob Forrest's band The Bicycle Thief. They released their only album in 1999, so they could've met before..
