I make them for a hobby but out of principle will not make one to look like a real person living or otherwise~Having lost my own child I know in my heart that a lookalike reborn, would not have been benificial to me grieving over the loss of my son~that and it would have been (in my opinion)~an insult to his memory~To me a reborn is just a very lifelike unique collectable~to be displayed~but if others choose to cuddle their reborns~what harm are they doing??~it's not like they're hurting anyone.
I actually like these dolls, and want to get one myself.
I do think it's kinda creepy to make them look like one of your own children though. I just want one because I think they're a really pretty piece of art. I'm not gonna take it on walks or anything, and it will probably spend a lot of time lying on my bedroom floor. :P

I can understand buying them for their collector's value, but for those people who claim they're filling a void for the children they can't have... ADOPT a child. Jeez. It's probably cheaper, more productive AND more fulfilling...
@baryldrummer That's true except only 30 babies each are adopted out in Australia, with a waiting list of about 5 years. These days no one is willing to adopt out their baby, unless of course in developing countries overseas.

There not always replacement babies. They are expensive though. I have another type of doll and I paid 25 for her, but the hobby is expesive. I know what she means by not being able to have babies and who says its not healthy. I say its not all that healthy to be around so much violence and sex and where is the harm in it. If it makes someone happy.

They are very life-like and beautiful works of art, but I don't know, I think that it would be a much better idea to adopt a real baby, or child who needs a family, if they would love to give affection to someone. Eh, it just seems like a more ethical idea to me.
