i'm not trying to bash here but the 2008 Beijing Olympics was just a saving face gesture to the world. This i was told that by a very close Chinese friend of mine while living/studying in China, so i hope no one objects too much by me reiterating that one point because just b/c i'm non-Chinese. And also from a public relations point of view, they sold it very well. All 44 billion dollars of it. On the flip side, few people got mega-richer off those games, and many many more became penniless.
For the Chinese Government to recognize this event would require some for of culpability...and they are more interested in saving face than facing reality.
June 4th, 1989 will live in not be lost in the eyes of God and those who saw these events.
On a relative scale, i guess that is happening within every government on the planet.
