this is the goverment response "There is no possibility of predicting an earthquake, that is the view of the international scientific community," so, how come mr Giuliani was able to do just that?. this isnt about science is about money, money, money. the mayor rather run the risk of the Dr bn wrong than to spend resources moving the people. the same happen in Katrina, many school buses were just sitting in parking lots because gov. The authorities had a difficult choice because it's difficult to move an entire population simply on a suspicion. They made a mistake but I don't blame them. However, politicans who don't understand science and show no respect for scientists should be fired!

Giuliani è in buona fede, i suoi studi sono reali e seri da 10 anni infatti ha salvato la sua famiglia prevedendo ore prima che succedesse il terremoto, spiega chiaramente nell'intervista a porta a porta che era evidente che sarebbe successo da li a poco perchè i picchi sismici non sfogavano.. e infatti poco è successo!

Apparently there was a credibility gap. If Giuliani knew that there was a reasonable chance of an earthquake he would have to say something. He may have been posturing but was more likely worried about what might happen. Earthquake hazard maps are based on long term averages of what happened in the past. And there is evidence that earthquake activity redistributes some of the stresses after an earthquake has occurred. It was probably a difficult call under doubtful circumstances.

Giuliani was connected with the Gran Sasso National Laboratory which has been studying Radon geogas flows to the surface for several years now. He may have been alarmed by their findings. Did this constitute a clear and present danger which would require an immediate evacuation? Was he overreacting? Is "posturing" justified under these circumstances? Was Giuliani acting as a responsible scientist or were the government officials guilty of public endangerment? Events favor Giuliani's actions.

Regardless if this scientist is completely accurate or not, he is onto something. Please do not be close-minded and dismiss or condemn him as ones did to Galileo. Galileo was condemned a heretic because he saw accurately the universe was not earth-centered. He spent the rest of his days under house arrest as punishment and silencing. Please support the research and just maybe the science of earthquake forcasting can be improved beyond our beliefs in our very lifetime. My condolences.

Le previsioni di Giuliani rompevano le scatole.. E afferma pure che questa notte alle postazioni "ufficiali" di monitoraggio non c'era nessuno!!!

Che rabbia, non c'è peggior sordo di chi non voglia udire..
