  • I don't understand the picture... Would someone mind explaining please?

  • robbing my blessings for myself, pride puffs me up then puts me down.

  • Credit to songfacts: In an interview with the New Musical Express December 8, 2007, vocalist Thom Yorke was asked if songs like "All I Need" are about obsession. He replied: "That's why it's called 'In Rainbows.' That obsession thing, thinking beyond where you are at the time. It's a phrase I had for a while, it kept coming up in my notebooks. And I don't know why, because it's kind of naff. But it seemed to work-it's one of those weird things. It stuck and I don't know why."

  • my asshole burns

  • I can't stop listening to this song right now. I can't.

  • This song smells like Boards Of Canada.

  • @superclaydude I was in Starbucks yesterday and the second I walked into the store they started playing "House of Cards."

  • lol i thought those were twinkie halves before i clicked on the vid

  • I have no romantic problems at all, but somehow this song just hits the spot.

    Maybe I want problems.

  • @FrozenFireDuck Why would you ever want romantic problems?

  • I am all of the days, you choose to ignore.

  • My girlfriend of 1 year and 4 months left me. She really is all I need.

  • @killneighbor305

    I feel you man.

  • @killneighbor305 I'm listening to this for a similar reason. Cheers pal, I feel your pain.

  • @killneighbor305

my girlfriend left me 2 and a half years ago and i still need her...other women are just...

this song points it out, she is the one i need!

  • @killneighbor305 right there with you man.

  • This song is what I feel right now squeezed into 3 minutes and 49 seconds.

  • Hey... I've heard this song before... at Starbucks, I think... :/

  • @superclaydude Then that certain starbucks has good taste in music. :D

  • @MultiZuccini

Forget the Venti coffee cup size, I would've had something bigger :)

  • @mxbmxchris How?

  • Thought the same thing Biggestmutemathfan!

  • The Synth in this song reminds me of Boards of canada... A group that i think any experimental fan should look up.

Boards Of Canada -Roygbiv.. Check it out it won't disappoint... and if it does the video is fun as well

  • Look up "While The City Sleeps - Rooftop Dreamers", kind of similar industrial triphop techtures yet huge emotional crescendos.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG.

  • i was reading the comments but then i realized that its so much better to just hear the song...is so good

sometimes people mess a lot about things just out of nowhere..

live to love ..love to live, good vibes to all of you , we are all humans

beings with feelings & in my opinion everybody deserves to be happy.

  • @polotellez If I could vote this up enough times so it's in the top comments, I would. I like you.

  • wow, absolutely... beautiful.

  • LOVE this song. prolly my fav off in rainbows album. in rainbows is not my fav album tho...id have to think about it. really hard to say. all are great in their own ways.

  • I get goosebumps every time I listen to this. So haunting, yet so amazing.

  • 2:45. <3

  • I only stick with you because there are no others

  • the official music video is .. so true and sad. watch it guys. makes you wonder about everything you own... our existence .. is made possible by the lives of others who suffer in place of us.

  • @JOLLYJOEY101 Are you joking? Chuck Norris' favorite band has ALWAYS been Radiohead.

  • Radiohead is all i need.

  • love the last min of this song. somehow it makes my eyes shut invoulentarily and stay shut till the song's finished!

  • beautiful song

  • i like this song best out of in rainbows i think it is very emo but in a good way it makes me want to get laid :)

  • @zyan05 That was probably one of the dumbest things I have ever read.

  • i think hail to the thief is best but i havnt heard all of them so

  • be happy

  • @MinkyBoodle44 I've definitely listened to this album the most and I own it in 3 formats. I'd say it's safe to say you're not alone!

  • The white stripes is good at first, then it becomes repetitive like Black Keys, which sounds like Jimmy Hendrix. here are some lyrics of a song I like very much, it is the kind of music I enjoy- Can I embrace a moment with you-a moment will do-`cos I missed my chance a thousand times before - I`m gonna miss no more. Try and break my routine is harder than it looks like

  • @marciobree you spelled jimi wrong, so you fail

  • I miss the beautiful early songs of radio head and stone temple pilots, I am trying so hard to find good songs to download but so far I have found crap only. Could you reccomend some great songs of 2009 and 2010? I am craving for good alternative rock MUSIC. music in capital letters to emphasize the lack of musical harmony pervarsive these days.

  • @marciobree The Strokes is a good place to start out ;), theres animal collective, but they are leaning towards the experimental side, LCD Soundsystem, Beach house, Yeah yeah yeahs, The Republic Tigers, Cage the Elephant.... ;)

  • @rez6457 Beach House especially are very under-rated; they come the closest to making poignant music like Radiohead, then there's also Grizzly Bear and Deerhunter

  • @marciobree definately Yeah Yeah Yeahs. umm how about the white stripes? :D

  • Meaningless, sounds like he is dying

  • @marciobree He does sound dead, like he lost meaning in his life and is desperately trying to find it again. I actually think that's what makes this song so powerful.

  • am i one of the few people who likes in rainbows the most out of all of radiohead's albums?

  • @MinkyBoodle44 no you´re not. i think it´s definitly the best album they´ve ever made!

  • @grimgolf79 THANK YOU LORD

  • @MinkyBoodle44 no!

i think in rainbows is the best radiohead album ever!

and radiohead is my favourite band... so......

  • 01 and 10 baby.....buy the ticket (make the playlist), take the ride (listen to it).

  • as an aspie (person with aspergers syndrome) this moves my mind so hard that when i listen to this while playing tetris, i could just go on forever. and it would give me a good feeling at the same time.

im gonna buy this album. hope i can get the cd verison. dont want to download over internet through a music server or dmca is gonna limit me.

  • This was always my favorite off In Rainbows the first time I heard it. It's amazing how simple of a song it is, yet it's so effective.

  • the smileys! they're so sad :'(

  • Best song on In Rainbows

  • @johnbrown53160 I TOTALLY agree!!!

  • Its a great song but depresses the hell out of me.

  • great

  • suuuuuuuuuuuuuuch a good song.

  • I love this song. It's so depressing.

    Though the picture got me wondering. Is there some kind of illusion or secret to it? I'd really like to find out o_o;

  • this song makes me so emotional. lol.

  • This would have been better without the singing.

  • @evieiable wtf are u crazy

  • @evieiable Don't get me wrong, I love Radiohead. I was just enjoying the ambience.

  • At the first 5 seconds , it reminds me of Bjork's ''Unrave''..Both of these tracks ... ANAZING!

  • Best mindfuck ever!

  • 8 people must love Lady GaGa.

  • @Alexmo555 wtf!

  • cheer up folks

  • strings at 1:42 are perfect

  • like it! ^_^

  • I really want to know what's the meaning behind this picture. It looks really interesting.

  • @flamebunny700 yeah, same here. i really like it

  • wow this song gives me this chills. so fucking amazing. my favorite band

  • Im probably alone on this one, mostly cause i a girl, but i find Thom very sexy =S

  • @TheNewMoon333 You are not alone, believe me. When I hear/see him sing I get shivers up my spine. Love this song!

  • @TheNewMoon333 not alone lol

  • @rukia44cat Rofl well thats good!

  • I was driving in L.A. with this song on late at night. Straight on Wilsgire from K-town to Beverly Hills and this song just caught my moment.

  • I meant Willshire

  • my god...they are gods of instruments, so perfect. One of there best albums and best songs

  • oh what a song... ♥

  • this song twists my soul...and to say wether or not its a good or bad feeling would be doing it a diservice....I say at this point what ever this song is doing to my inner workings should stay in the realm of the inconceivable....for if one were to try and break down whats happening...their brain would seriously implode out of amazement

  • @dakidblack

    whoa

  • I'm blazed as fuck

  • @coolhorseman123 hahahahaha

  • @coolhorseman123 Bull fucking shit, get the fuck out of here you mother fucking 12 year old piece of shit.

  • @coolhorseman123 Learn2grammar.

    Gtfo, twink.

  • @coolhorseman123 Can we all get along you bunch of pussy fied ass clowns!!!!!!!!

  • Thom Yorke is a masterfull writer I agree his lryics and how he implements his voice as part of many or most of the songs just signifys he is possibly the best out there with lryical/poetic depth along with 1 of if not the best band backing it, it would be 1 hell of a showdown to see if Yorke, vs. Manyard Keenan of tool, vs. kurt kobain in his heyday, see who truly is the best at not just writing songs but implemnting the lyrics into them since they all wrote/write genius and voice words perfect

  • THE ENDING HOLY SHIT...this band is beautiful

  • radiohead is one of the best groups from 90's....genial,really genial

  • My God, I have listened to this song hundreds of times and it still gives me goosebumps. Musical and lyrical pefection...these guys are fucking brilliant!

  • i am happy.

  • If I had to pick my favourite Radiohead so...... Nah impossible!

  • Amazing. <3

  • We just want to inform fellow radiohead fans!

We are a band called Koi and we just finished our debut album "In Tomorrow Hid Yesterday".

It's available for free downloading at our channel, or you can just search for "Less Than Abstract".

    It's also available at spotify.

If you're looking for new bands, check it out, it's very inspired by these guys so you might like it...if you're not looking for new bands, just ignore this. Rock on! //Patrik

  • their metaphors couldnt be put any better. every description is an exact feeling.

  • are the square guys supposed to be like some kind of cryptogram or something?

  • semaphore?

  • Radiohead has never failed to sing out every word of my thoughts and feelings.

I'm officially in love with this song. Good lord.

  • 2:54 = one of the best changeups in music ever

  • superb

  • 1 absolutely agree. It gets to me all the time

  • @cqlatuu you're completely right.

i love hearing this song live!

    especially in

    "from the basement"

  • @cqlatuu the drumline's simple but that changeup is just SO DAMN FUN on the drums for some reason XD

I'll put on a headset and play through all of In Rainbows but for some reason this song is my favorite to play (and 15 step)

  • @NeedLessPopMusic

Screw the headset, put it on some quality loudspeakers!

  • @truefaith00

I would but then my parents would be all "Turn that shit down >:O"

They don't care about my loud drumming, they only care about not listening to radiohead for some reason. And my drumstick more or less exploded when I was playing "Nude" yesterday.......

After an hour playing Metallica and RATM......

    go figure

  • @cqlatuu Amen to that....seriously, this is some amazing music to me. I'm trying to decide if I want to learn it on piano to play for an open mic. Might take some time.

  • @cqlatuu you mustt be forgetting paranoid android or exit music

  • @cqlatuu

    'changeups' ftw.

  • @cqlatuu this part of this song makes me feel like im escaping my old sin and im triying to grip jesus;s hand and i finally make it out.

  • my favorite radiohead song

  • I don't care if they are or aren't original, I just love them because they make me feel something and sometimes that's all we need, to remember we have emotions and be vulnerable, raw

  • you're crazy to call this soulless my friend! it is incredibly moving to me. think about the music video..."im just a moth, trying to share your light, im just an insect..."

  • @Snailbarf how is it programmed? you sound like an idiot.

  • their new music is NOT ridiculous nor soul-less. they use a lot of analog synths dude, those are intense and they play them live too, synths and samplers are instruments too, and listen to the structures and time signatures,,,,there is an equal amount of talent here if not more as their previous albums., and the drums on this song are real drums not programmed, some songs are though and ive tried programming odd time signatures and its not completely easy.

  • @Snailbarf uuh they play instruments look at in rainbows from the basement no synth drums or anything

  • @chiohdz but they are original......100 percent to the teeth

  • @chiohdz remember we are aliveeeeee

  • @chiohdz Their music taps emotions. Excellent. Because that is what music is.

  • @chiohdz Who in their right minds would EVER say that Radiohead ISN't original? They are one the most both oriinal AND versatile bands in music history

  • lol.

you came onto youtube, searched for a radiohead video, and listened to a song that you clearly don't like, just so that you could post a hate comment?

...you must have a lot of free time.

  • I see what you mean, alot of people think radiohead is their life.

But all in all they are just a band, people take them too seriously...

  • No, Radiohead isn't their life.

    Music is their life.

And Radiohead expresses musical brilliance better than any band I've ever heard, in my humble opinion.

  • i sincerely agree with that statement.

imo they're the best band alive. their music is brilliant

  • i still listen to this album everyday, like it came out yesterday, not only is it one of the best albums i have heard, i got to decide how much i want to pay for it. bravo thom yorke

  • Radiohead are the only band left writing music.... defy that.... mention another major band that is currently being active with new ideas, while at the same time arent making fun of what they used to believe in..

  • liven up yourself!!

  • Uh are you forgetting about chumbawamba??

  • Sounds like Boards of Canada's Roygbiv mixed with Yorke's voice. Sorry all Radio fans - this is hell of the song, but - for somebody who listens pretty much to everything it's hard to not notice the influences. Radiohead was always at the forefront, but never original, I admire that they keep fingers on the pulse though.

  • Not everything is about "being original", but more about "going with what your heart feels and dictates". I have been making music for years, and obviously you get influenced by other music, and if one of my songs sounds a bit like this or that song I don't really give a damn, because in the end I expressed what I was feeling and thinking at that moment.

  • Quite possibly one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

  • dito*1000000

  • Screw you guys for marking me down for saying I like muse, they write some cool stuff. But I of course like radiohead more, just heard muse first. One thing i don't like about radiohead fans is how elitist they are. Get over yourselves, radiohead is amazing but there are other bands in the world.

  • this album shattered my idea of music into millions of little pieces

this song will never lose its beauty

  • it sounds "I'm so high" to you because you are so high :))

  • Crazy how it builds up to the ending, I know he is saying "It's all right, but sometimes it sounds like he's saying "I'm so high"

  • reckoner is also v beautiful

  • The ambiance of this song is just amazing and the way they make it. Woah. Very nice lyrics too.

  • Agreed the lyrics are excellent

  • Fun? Man, this song is heartbreaking for me. I always tell my friends, if there was one song I could play to that person you like but you know you could never have, this would be it.

  • i first heard this song the day after the most wonderful women i've ever met broke my heart.... its the most beautiful song i've ever heard....

  • blazed

  • MEE TOO

  • can't believe this album's almost been out for two years already. feels like just yesterday i was anxiously awaiting its release.

and goddamn. did it go above and beyond my expectations.

  • I was recently thinking of that also.

And what does it say about the quality of the album when you can listen to it for 2 years (like I have) and still pick it up today feeling just as excited for the next listen?

  • no, you suck!

angry radiohead fans are gonna kick your ass

  • 2:55 on (the end of the song) is also used in 4 minutes warning on in rainbows disc 2 at the end again

  • Isn't this the one they did for charity with MTV? The shoe video??

I'm a Muse fan but I'm trying to look at other bands, obviously Radiohead's the first band I'd look at. This is a beautiful song and I was wondering what other songs I should look at... I also like Weird Fishes.
