  • EXCELENT WAY TO DESCRIBE

  • Thanks for the video, I was having trouble being sure about the spine on a surf rod i'm rebuilding, using a piece of glass to roll on has made it very obvious and the tips for spine finding on multi-piece rods was great, thanks alot!

  • The bottom spine will dominate the top. That is why when Russ rejoined the upper section to the lower, his mark was out of alignment. By rotating the top section back into alignment while it is joined to lower you are effectively aligning the spines of both sections. It is a bit hard to get your head around at first, but it absolutely works.

  • I'm confused - what did you actually do to the lower section of the blank to detect it's natural spine? It seems you just rotated the top section so it's marks were lined up and you called that line the spine of your lower section.

  • great clip

  • Great video.

  • how would you mark the "spine" on two sections of a beachcaster 13 or 14 ft long( multiplier)?

  • @supafly1982 Same methods as shown in the vid but for use with a multiplier/freespool/conventional you want to put the eyes on the opposite side, so mark the bottom side of where the rod comes to rest.
