  • had the pleasure of watching the dirt band when i was seven years old and also went backstage and met them treated me like i was their own kid wonderful people and phenominal musicains have always been a huge fan of theirs, wonderfully talented

  • yes verry good song (but) Rascal Flatts Does A better Job At it

  • awesome! it goes straight to my heart indeed...

  • NGDB wins the crown for this song, simple, folksy, without twangy vocals, good stuff!

  • im getting married to this song. idc what anyone says! i hope i find a church with a REALLY long aisle. Its gonna be awkward standing there waiting for the song to finish. :)

  • Yes, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is amazing!!!! They've been together for so long and are just great. I agree, such nice guys. Sure miss Jimmy Ibbotson being in the band though. They're still excellent. Jeff Hanna wrote this song.

  • im crying, this is so beautiful.

  • @livetodancexox .. It simply doesn't get much better than this .. What a Great song this is

  • @SouthCarolinaPicker i know its just so raw and real.

  • thiis took my breath away. just beautiful

  • just saw these guys at the calgary stampede, simplay amzing, waaay better than the rascall flatts version no doubt, musical masterpiece, most of the audience had teary eyes <3

  • @xboxfannaticable .. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is one of the Best bands on this Planet .. And genuine good guys, too .. Thanks for stoppin' in!

  • Oh, I've said for years that, once you hear this version, you'll never want to listen to that whiny RF version again. I've met these guys several times, and they were the nicest people. Jeff Hanna is a total sweetie. There is a LOT of fantastic music in the NGDB catalog. Check them out! I promise you won't be disappointed.

  • @grievousangelic I've been saying the same thing about this song. I've turned a couple dozen off the RF version after playing this one for 'em.

  • My Band "Steel Canyon" opened a show for this crazy good band--All of them treated us like friends--Amazing band !

  • @longy54 .. I know exactly what you mean, Amigo! I've had the honor and pleasure of hanging with these guys on a couple of occasions .. WorldClass Artists and WorldClass People, for sure .. Gotta Love The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band!!

  • saw the NGDB the other night in Kent Ohio and heard them perform The Broken Road with Bob Carpenter singing. I'll never again listen to the Rascal Flats version. NGDB were, are and always will be GREAT.

  • @celtic2285 .. A great band, indeed! And a National Treasure

  • I'd never heard this song before today.I tried listening to the Rascal Flatts version afterwards, but couldn't make it all the way through!

  • @midvilledean .. I'm with you MD.. The RF version pales in comparison.. But it garnered a Grammy© for Jeff Hanna and his co-writers.. Bobby Carpenter turned in a masterful vocal performance here.. Damned near impossible to eclipse..

  • The Rascal Flatts version I love, and then I learned one of my parents favorite bands(NGDB) wrote it, (they were singing live when they said this and then SANG IT LIVE) I was screaming and dancing around and shaking my dad, and people were looking at me like I was insane, but I didn't care because I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @robpatzfan17 .. Glad you found this version, my friend! Look further into their music catalog.. You will be greatly rewarded.. And thanks for your story! Memories are made of this :)
