  • Part 2. He said the gun turret could be retracted, giving the aircraft another 30 knots. This saved his life one day when he was being chased at sea level back to England by two Me 110s. With the turret retracted, the Blenheim was just fast enough to get away. The 110s were at extreme range and he could see their cannon fire hitting the water ahead of him.

  • This is most interesting and takes me back to an ex-RNZAF bomber pilot I knew. He told me that he joined the RAF a couple of years before WWII and was flying Blenheims when the war began. Their casualty rate was high and a year later, only he and one other pilot survived of the original aircrews. Part 2 follows:

  • Wow! That was great to watch.

Very insipational to see all that hard work being repeated twice over by that group of dedicated restorers. Some did not live to see the fruits of their labour. The chap who re-built the 3 Bristol engines for the first ship, OHB, pilot who first obtained all the ships and engines that served as the supply of parts, and the other chief pilot who crashed before #2 was flown. Thanjks for posting this great video.

  • Nice indeed

  • Fly a Blen in battlegroundeurope . com

  • Thank you so much for posting this, my Dad (Ward 647636) was stationed at Bicester, during the war, where he was the armoury sergeant. He often talked fondly of the Blenheims but I never knew what they looked like.

  • this video is of professional broadcast quality!

  • That's truly heroic work!

  • Now THESE men are national heroes! What they did far outstrips the cheap fame of TV celebrities. I'm always glad to see people get away from their computers and lay their hands and minds upon real things.

The Bristol Blenheim is one of many little known aircraft that served in WW2. All we ever hear about are the B-24, B-17, P-47, P-51, and Spitfire.

The restorers should be publicly honored by the so-called "Royals." Gilded parasites who have done nothing in comparison to what was done here.

  • Nice and shinny, lovely job

  • 5/5 stars
