Iv owned my Terrain for a few months (traded a 2011 Mitsu Outlander Sport which i had come to hate for it). So far the terrain has been more impressive than I expected. Great power and decent gas mileage. 4 cyl version. Fun to drive with the traction control turned off. The tech and digital is nice but not overdone such as with the sync system in my wifes ford focus. The red interior is great for night driving. I always get positive comments from people seeing the vehicle for the first time. :)
@RaguelAngelofBalance Different peoples' eyes are sensitive to different colors. Some people prefer blue/green/white, some prefer red/orange. What that says though is there should be an adjustment so that the driver can switch to the color they are most comfortable with.
I love the red lighting. That was one of the things I loved about Pontiacs, but now they are gone. There are those who don't like it and that's fine, I hate that blue lighting in so many other cars!
@shoelover10 I'm not a big fan of the red lighting, but I also understand that others have different preferences. I'd like to see the ability to change the color like some Fords have.
@shoelover10 If GM didn't discontinue the brand this would have been called Pontiac Terrain, the 2nd Generation Pontiac Torrent, or worse Pontiac G#-something.
@chaseman94 I hate that Pontiac is gone, but that brand should have never had any SUVs in the first place. Pontiac should have remained a performance car division instead of reaching for some many others in the buying public.
@shoelover10 I agree. Instead they tried to make Pontiac compete against the likes of Honda and Toyota (even though they made the Vibe / Matrix) but ended up doing no better than Mitsubishi which about to suffer the same fate as Pontiac.
One of the reasons I prefer red is that it's easier on the eyes at night. Have you ever noticed how, with clock radios, a red LED digital display doesn't cast out as much light throughout the room as a blue or green one does?
Human vision isn't very sensitive to red. Red lighting won't affect your night vision as much as green or blue lighting for a given intensity, which is a good thing and why high contrast with red lighting without blindness is possible.
Studies have shown (IIRC) that red light doesn't "wake you up" if you happen to open your eyes while sleeping - I assume that the red is either an homage to GMC's red logo, or more logically, to help sleeping passengers on long road trips stay asleep.
The principal reason they put red lights instead of blue is because the red has enough contrast to see it without blindness while driving through dark roads, blue is cool but doesnt has enough contrast to see it clearly

Is it possible to chance the color of the lighting or dim it down?
coffee2luv 6 months ago
@coffee2luv You can dim the light, but you cannot change the color.

I prefer the terrains look over the equinox. But this read lighting makes me wanna puke so ima go with the equinox with blue lighting.
MrWhatabeach 6 months ago
@MrWhatabeach It's a safe choice either way. We have reviews of both.

Red lighting is hard on the eyes. Besides, RED should be save for the "bad lights"....like oil level, overheating, etc. Blue/Green are best.

@CheersnGears It would be a neat option. Colours to set the mood. XD

I love that Red, it looks alot better than Blue or Green lighting, blue is cool, but i prefer the red for the interior lighting!

It's a far cry from the old days of ugly pea green, or dingy white dash lighting.
