This woman is completely insane. Does she not know that the dropping of the two atom bombs on Japan actually saved many lives? If we had to launch an invasion of Japan with conventional weapons many more people would have died. Remember the Fire Bombing ot Tokyo actually killed more people than died at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Or pershaps she thinks we should have just surrendered after Pearl Harbor? Remember Japan had it's sights on Australia and the Dutch East Indies. On second thought?
This is about the sickness that plutonium and uranium - being dug up and processed, as well as deployed in conflicts - reecks on the entire global environment that we all need for survival! You have missed the point. The media wants you to miss the point! READ about past nuclear workers today fighting for health benefits. Google that; THERE ARE NUMEROUS WORKERS (AS THERE ARE VETS) AGAINST USING DU AND NUCLEAR POWER. WHY? They are ILL from exposure. There is more to this than strength in war.
Safe Nuclear Waste Disposal, IMPOSSIBLE, so how is that safe or clean? Or doesn't that count?
Other problems: • health of workers in NUKE industries • local communities + toxins released in air / water near [now decaying] plants • aging of plants [Vermont Yankee] + over stretching their capacities • coal and fossil fuels use needed in building new plants • large scale war + small scale bombs that deform humans, sicken military personnel, destroy environments with DU dust
Clearly, for nuclear power to be a viable energy source, effective waste disposal is a must. Based on what I read about the Oklo Fossil reactors, nuclear waste can be contained in deep geological repository, safely indefinitly, with minimum longterm stewardship concerns.
All the complex issues and more aren't revealed freely nor thoroughly to the public, WHY? Because the media is owned by companies who would lose profits if it is revealed and discussed publicly.
thank you for commenting - I appreciate a discussion.
DEPLETED URANIUM IS KILLING US...and who's fault is that...ours...so why don't we change the way this world is ran and vote all the people who have been in congress for too long...out of there...just vote the imcumbents out.....vote for someone new....this is the PEOPLE'S PARTY.....let's do something about this
Several months after the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, my father visited the city as a member of the allied occupation forces. He was horrified with the extent of the devastation and 'atomic plague' visited on the people of the city. He came back to Australia a firm opponent to nuclear weapons, and the dangers of nuclear power and uranium mining. Thanks for sharing this.
You're very welcome - she's been a long outspoken opponent who in recent years may not be seen as often, but, Dr. Caldicott is still working and fighting for children to live long, healthy lives! It's still our battle to leave a planet that is viable to our kids!
Thank you - I did credit Ms. Goodman just now in the title. Great suggestion.

I have to disagree with this. Nuclear Power has shown itself to be safe and clean.
After watching some of her videos on YouTube, I feel that she doesn't have event a basic understanding of the physics - which is very surprising.
