My parents have Windows 7 on their PC I go on it every now and then it's not bad, it's quick doesn't look too ugly but it still has some little annoying things with it... That's why I'm a Mac
When I installed it on my laptop a week before retail everything was fine. (2.7ghz 1 gbram) 3 years old I'm still running that install and I was pleasantly happy with it's performance vs ubuntu I had dual booted. But yeah I don't expect a company that relies on their software working to upgrade to something that might just not work right.
I have installed windows 7 on my 2 years old laptop and I didn't even put a cd or download a driver for anything on it, windows 7 automatically put all the updated drivers for me. No glitches, no problems nothing at all !! Fantastic new features, fun to use, looks great and needs LESS resources compared to vista or even XP.... I recommend it to EVERYONE, just give it a go, you will love it, its free and valid till march 2010 :) it will be released way before that anyway so no problems :)
windows 7 runs FASTER than vista, i had NO TROUBLES INSTALLING IT, IT WORKED OUT OF THE BOX, works with EVERY devices i ave plugged into it, nothing has gone wrong.
My Windows 7 had no problem running any drivers that Vista uses. I've been running tests with newer versions and I didn't even have to install my drivers unlike the previous beta. If you can run Vista, you can run 7. I don't see why a system that will have Win7 preinstalled cost more than a Mac with OS X. I say 3GB should be recomended for Win7. Sorry dude, fail.
get a life mac lover i use mac and a pc and i have windows 7 installed on my laptop and everything works even the old software and i m willing to sell my mac now, so go kiss your macs butt !!
thats horseshit! all current and previous apps are 100% compatable with Win7! Its a re-worked verison of Vista, not only that, but you certainly don't have to replace motherboard, videocard 'n shit because it works in Win7, I still use an old 6600GT in an older system with Vista, it runs Win7 fine!. Also Win7 actually uses LESS "resources" than Vista, and people have installed it and had it running superb on the Samsung Q1 UMPC which has what? a 1GHz Via CPU& 512MB Ram? shut up already you suck.
Uh dude. DRM is the programmers right. He can do what he wants and if he doesn't want it to work on another persons product its his right. I know it pisses us all off but we cannot stop it.
I hope you macfaggots enjoy your overpriced pieces of shit (with shitty hardware, we all know Apple uses shitty parts. I dissected my old powerbook (that I got for free on Craigslist) and found a Foxconn motherboard (very, very shitty Asian company) with it's UNIX-based Childproof OS (because if you can't innovate, imitate).

OMG WE WONT CARE TIL WINDOWS 7 release date which is proably next year besides if you have a sony machine you wont be able to use windows 7 i tryed it it didnt work but vista is getting better so it doesent matter sure windows 7 will have DX11 it dont fucking matter!
Yea i don't think that he knows that you can use vista drivers, and I am sure that ATI Made drivers for vista and didn't say "you know what, im not making an upgrade for vista"
Sorry meek, just because a person knows how to stick an Ubuntu disc in a computer and follow onscreen instructions or knows how to type simple one-line app installation commands does not make a person a Linux Master, just a Linux user. The fact that you put him on your channel ruins his cred and your lack thereof even more. Don't insult people by dragging them into your little flame war. Linux is neither Mac nor Windows, it's better! You figure out why. (Oh, wait, you don't use Linux.)
So a Linux fanboy has a problem with Windows. OH MUH GAWD I'VE SEEN THE LIGHT.
His points are retarded and he is no Linux master. If he was he'd use a non-shitty Linux distro. Ubuntu is the Windows of Linux. (Okay, that may be harsh, but it is shit compared to some of the great ones out there)
Ubuntu is like using Debian sid without the advantage of having up to date programs. I don't see the point. If you wanna see how awesome Ubuntu really is, google "phoronix ubuntu getting slower" without the quotes. FIrst result.
Personally, I love Debian, Arch, and Slackware. Between those three I have fantastic choices, and there are tons of other more specific purpose distros for everything you could think of. Ubuntu is a fail and has been ever since 6.10
I can see why people are trying to get behind windows 7, most of them were disappointed with vista. Speaking as someone who has used the beta I can definitely say that is does not support all of vista's drivers, but its a beta so I expect problems. I also find it to be a little bit crashy but I remember when I was using a beta build of leopard and it was still quite unstable aswell. If its true that the requirements are 128mb of vram to run directx9 then I have to admit that it could be a kick
AppleSoldier was mistaken about the VRAM requirement. The suggested 128 MB of VRAM was explicitly stated to be for running the Aero glass UI (which is GPU-accelerated so needs a sufficiently powerful GPU). With the Basic UI (which has no glass effects) 7 runs fine with 64 MB of VRAM. This has nothing to do with DirectX.
svt, also, keep in mind that microsoft is more popular than a MAC. If mac ever made a mistake and had a buggy operating system, they would be hammered by the press. What you said is a double edged sword. MAC take a lot of criticizm from PC users - because you outnumber us. But there are millions of PC users who would love to convert but don't have the money right now.
I will agree that there are a lot of PC users who will want to convert and I know some of them. Most of those are people who've had trouble with spyware and viruses but also they are the ones that search for warez and free music - I know because I have to fix their machines.
I think you're right about the double edge sword thing. I mean the recent thing with the 20000 trojan infections on the mac was kind of big news and spread fast. See its the warez seekers that always have problems :)
Just to get 2 things straight. First of all MAC is not the same as Mac. MAC implies MAC Address which is a totally different thing. Mac as in Macintosh is not spelled in all Caps.
2. Apple is the company. Macs are one of there products. You talking as if Mac is the name of the company.
I've installed Windows 7 on multiple machines in my house and I haven't had to pay one cent. Printers that don't work with Vista work on Windows 7, I have absolutely NO driver issues or motherboard issues. It works flawlessly. There are some glitches but it's a Beta.
How old of hardware are we talking about a decade or half a decade?
I do have Windows 7 installed on a computer that's close to 4 years old. To tell you how old it is, it's an AMD 64 3200+ with 1GB of RAM and it runs Windows 7 pretty fast. It runs like it's using WinXP. Driver issue I had was a certain NIC driver, Linksys, but I turned on the onboard NiC and it worked, no driver to install. Updated the drivers with Windows Update, poof... done.
He attests to the age old Windows horror stories (all true) which i have personally lived through in my former Windows life. And the truth is this: With every Windows upgrade you will HAVE to eventually upgrade your hardware and software!
kind of the same with most operating systems? you won't need to with windows 7, snow leopard? those on the power chips now have to buy a new computer. cant just blame windows, its inevitable that some point you will need to upgrading my OLD dell which runs a celeron 2.4 will run windows 7
I have to disagree strongly. I've seen Windows 7 running on older systems, systems up to 3 years old, the oldest of the Core Duo's and they run it fine.
Along with drivers, you are forgetting that 7 IS a Vista overhaul, so any drivers that work with Vista, are probably gonna work on 7 without much hassle, things that have problems will get driver updates to correct them, but I expect that to be very few, MS won't let another driver issue fuck their release.
If I had a choice between using OSX or Linux. I'd choose Linux. I'm not saying that OSX is a bad OS, but I completely hate the idea of Apple controlling the hardware. Linux is flexible and can run on various types of hardware. I personally feel the Linux GUI is a better design (Gnome) than OSX.
in over ten years of using a Mac, I have never needed support. And why? BECAUSE IT WORKS! On window users need support, because their software is full of bugs!
If anything, it makes Linux look better than everything because legacy hardware is extensively supported. Apple is giving up on PPC which was only discontinued back in 2006. What do PPC owners do? Now, they have to go buy a new hardware software combo just like Splitpaw said you have to do with Windows.
In summary, proprietary software is only good if you buy a new computer every 2 years. Otherwise, free software is the best way to go for longevity.
In computer years, 2 years is a lifetime. You're completely right, if you're using a system older then two years, I hate to say it but it's old. Experts recommend getting a new computer every two years to keep up to date with the technology, maybe even more often now, as it's speeding so fast, intel core 2 duo's are the lowest-end processors now, only in 2006 they were the newest best thing.
I wouldn't say the C2D processor are the lowest end processors now, but it is true that for the same price as the slowest C2D in 2006, you can get a much faster quad core with much more processing power.
If all computers should be replaced after 2 years, then complaining that Macs and Windows computers don't support older hardware doesn't matter. What matters is when people hold onto that old box for more that 2 years. That's when free and open source software really shines.
Lastly, I have a vid of Vista installed fresh on a dual PIII 650 box with 1GB RAM with SP1 and its pretty peppy. I'll be doing Windows 7 on the PIII box soon. Will make a vid ad will even do things like open photoshop, open some pics taken with my SLR camera while playing music and having email open..and even burning a DVD at the same time...
Also DDR2 RAM is about $20 for 2GB - sometimes even cheaper. The people compalining about it using ram and affording ram...how can you even pay for the electricity that runs the box if you cant afford $20 to upgrade a machine by 2GB to make a current or even future OS happy?
Snow leopard = no PPC support. Looks like mac users with very usable dual cpu and some quads that are running on G5 processors will need to be bending over.
Wow not only did they get raped with the price of the computer, now they get reamed again with lack of support.
I on the other hand have run Windows 7 on a dual PIII box without much drama.
I will laugh in the face of the first person I meet with a G5 that cant run Snow Leopard.
in over ten years of using a Mac, I have never needed support. And why? BECAUSE IT WORKS! On window users need support, because their software is full of bugs!
Honest answer needed from you... if "it just works" , can I direct all the mac issues I get from friends over to you? Things ranging from beachballing when trying to print, programs quitting with no reason or error, kernel panics. Driver issues for things like printers or scanners they've just picked up...
If you say ok, then I'll ask them to come onto youtube and send their probs your way - but only if you agree.
All the issues are PC Window issues unrelated to the mac. this is PC fanboy propaganda. And do not send unwanted email - spam - because it is just trolling and not factual. I have NEVER had one issue with the 6 macs I have owned in the past 10 years. I currently use 3 macs for various purposes and they have never had an issue.
So basically what you are saying is, no you dont want to deal with the problems my friends have / had with their Macs....
BTW I've owned like 20 PCs so far and I've had no problems with them either and not with windows or any other OS I've run (OS/2 for example).
I've also got a G4 running Tiger as well. I've had the computer for 3 years. If I was so impressed with the stability of OSX, I would have gone out to buy a new mac by now but I have not.....
I do not want to deal with them. But everyone knows, millions of PC users, that windows has bugs in their programs. Vista is notorious. And it is also well knowned that MAC is free of major issues. So I would consider all your complaints to be PC propoganda. Reading what you have written, is does not sound creditable. I also have two PCs and they are not stable. They suck. You cannot even turn them off without Window taking over.
Go take a look at my vids. I actually own two macs. Not credible. LOL. I've owned 5x the machines you owned so far. I've got a couple servers at home. I am an admin at my place of work and we have both Macs and PCs (for servers and workstations).
Again, the fact that you are unable to operate a windows machine, tells me you dont know whats going on. Heck my little sister is on her 3rd year with Vista and its the original install! LOL. I can get you the time and date stamps on the OS too :)
The fact that there are more than 10X the desktop users for windows vs OSX and god knows how many times (50X maybe) of windows based servers vs OSX servers means you will hear about more problems - just because there are way more people. Think about it.
PS. I'd love to see you send me a screenshot from a Mac that you can get your hands on that has been running 24-7 for a year!
There are 10,000 times more Chevies on the road than Rolls Royces - so in your mind that means a Chevy is a better car. Well you just exposed your mindset and lack of logic. All stats show that Vista has major opertating issues and OSX operated flawlessly. Say what you will but you cannot argue facts.
svt, no problem. But auto stats show the % of problems per the number of cars on the road. Vista has been acknowledged to be a nightmare by the majority of people running it. Even microsoft as admitted problems. I will not run it, I am using XP.
While I will admit that Vista does have occasional backward compatability issues with older software and hardware and does need more resources, that is really the case with any new OS.
I remember when XP first came out, there are lots of things that did not run right. There were games, CD burning software, Antivirus software..etc. There was also a lack of some video drivers. Only after SP1 came out did things smooth out.
I've run vista at home and work and honestly, its been very good.
I've also built about 500 machines for clients, family and friends. I'd tell you what makes for a stable system and what doesnt but it doesnt matter. You think you already know and wont want to hear it anyway.
The fact that I can right this second provide you with two screenshots of old win2k boxes with uptimes of nearly a YEAR prove everything you said wrong. Unstable my ass.
...you know where stability comes from? The user. If someone has no clue, their computer will be unstable.
This guy is and idiot. seriously he's talking complete and Utter BS. Windows 7 will run slower than Vista on a 6month old high end system? wtf is that? thats like saying XP runs 10times slower than Vista. which obviously isn't true. He also says that you'll have Driver issues. more BS. Vista drivers will work in Win7 because Win7 is built upon Vista. Vista wasn't built upon XP thats why drivers issues were so big. Same with Software. Get your facts straight.
I'm just saying they have them. Apple had more of the industry than the PC all of last quarter, and that is one company versus others. Apple's stock is much higher too, than Microsoft. Windows sucks! Shut up you WinNerd!
windows 7 runs great on my vista with 5gb ram, quad core 2.2ghz amd processor, and video cards which nvidia has the drivers on there main page. so it works for, i.
What about XP drivers in Windows 7? You'll still have to buy new Hardware if you're using XP.
People say Vista sucks because of the XP drivers didn't work with Vista. (and other things) Windows XP drivers still won't work With Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Windows 7 still uses the Vista kernel and drivers. Therefor it's Vista 2.0.
More to the point, you'll have to get out of the middle ages if you're still using XP.
The only people running XP now are businesses who never expected IE to get updated beyond version 6 [for some reason], those with netbooks or hardware that will be obsolete, and luddites.
I have 3 Adult relatives who can't afford to upgrade o Vista and they all have less than 512MB of RAM. I have exactly 512MB of RAM. Times are hard and people nowadays have upgrading their computer the last thing on their minds.
So you want me to speend $400 on Vista or Windows 7, Upgrade my RAM, buy a new printer and scanner and not pay rent for a month.
All of my Income goes to rent for a 2 bed duplex and that barely pays half of it.
Some of us can't afford to live in the 21st century.
So stay with XP. nobody is twisting your arm. If you've already got it running then stay with it.
If you had a g4 mac with 10.2 that originally came with it, nobody would be twisting your arm to switch from that to a new mac and spend money either.
Some people switch to Linux if money is tight. BTW Vista OEM can be had for as little as $140 for the home premium and RAM is like $20-30 these days. Its not free but not nearly as bad as you make it out to be.
No, I will not stick with XP, I got off the Monopoly last year and I was sick of viruses, so I use Ubuntu now. (I would only use windows if I have to)
I even Installed Ubuntu on my older Sister's 1.0Ghz Pentium III with three hundred and something megabytes of ram and I said Isn't that kinda slower? It would be faster if you were using a 7 year old OS like windows XP. (without viruses) She said "I don't want windows" and She has been using windows forever and hasn't used a mac since the 80's.
Yes xp drives will not work in vista, thats why you use vista drivers in vista not xp drivers. Is people like you who still think vista is bad because it wont run xp drivers.
Now, XP is a 7 year old Operating System. so anything made within the past 7 years will work with XP. Now, I have a 3 year old printer and there are no Vista drivers for it because it came out before Vista, so that "everything that worked with Vista will work with windows 7" compatibility will do me no good because Windows 7 uses the same kernel as vista.
Now let me ask you something. What was wrong with XP? Nothing, Micro$oft just wanted to make more money and sell something else.
Nothing is wrong with windows xp, its a great OS i used it for years until i built my own computer just this past summer.
But windows didn't want to make money, well ok they wanted to make money but what company doesn't, but they didn't want to make money for the purpose of making money.
Why did Microsoft make xp? why did they make windows 2000? They might as well of kept it with windows 95, that was a good OS. They made Vista to keep up with the times and it was buggy to start with.
Have you tried vista? Because although your printer might not have vista drivers it might still work the same as it does in xp. But if you don't already own vista i wouldn't go picking it up anytime soon.
Windows 7 has a great feature that automatically will find updates and drivers for anything that you have connected. I got a video card, dvd drive, and monitor and windows 7 found all the drivers and updates and i didn't need to ask. Best feature of windows 7
What about the hardware requirements? Was that fixed? Do you know why Vista's hardware requirements are so high compared to XP? It's because Vista's watching you and that takes system resources. I wouldn't like to have a OS that invades my privacy. Would you?
LAWL. Are you nuts? That is not where the resources go. Its called superfetch, it loads parts of programs into the ram so they open and perform faster. OS X has this too. No one is "invading" your privacy. Don't be a noob. As for hardware requirements it requires more because it does more.
If you have less than 512MB of ram, why can't this "superfetch" thing be turned off and have it only need 128MB of ram if you don't have the resources like with XP?
Vista's DRM kernel controls what you do and limits your freedom and liberties with your computer.
And Vista does watch watch what you do, I just can't put a link in this comment because youtube won't let you put links in comments.
It can be turned off, and 512 is below standard for today. Who the fuck seriously uses a PC with 512 thinking it is hot stuff huh? DRM. Oh boy. DRM what? That blue ray shit? Big deal. DRM is not that big of an issue if it does not affect you directly. Microsoft does not watch your every move. You are just a paranoid fuck that watches porn all day. Honestly....Why would Microsoft watch 2 billion people all day. That is ridiculous. All they do is gather error reports.
"Who the fuck seriously uses a PC with 512..."-UbuntuLee
Poor people. Who's poor? Everybody I know and by the economy looks right now, soon maybe the rest of America will be poor too.
My mother uses 512MB of ram on a 2.0ghz celeron and before I got my late Christmas present, (3GB of ram after her tax rebate) she had only 256MB of ram.
My Sister has a 1.0ghz pentium 3 with 384MB of ram
My brother only has 128MB of ram. (don't recall the cpu)
Just like your failed windows 7 whining vids with user created errors.
The only people that are gonna believe ANYTHING you post are people that are stupid enough to believe emeek, in other words an ever dwindling minority.
Its because they have no concept of how things work. Very sheltered. Although someone with a bit of common sense and 5 minutes to think about how the world works might figure it out but nope...not some of these users :)
Can you name many more popular new games or are you going to be stuck with those? For every 20 titles that come out for windows, maybe one comes out for OSX - if that. You can pretend you're not limited but you are.
Now if you're willing to use windows on your mac, then ya, you can play a lot of games. Thank god for windows !
Again, what do I care if they give apple money. LOL you dont get it. They are still running Windows. Microsoft STILL gets their money. The more Apple sells macs that can run windows, the more money MS makes. Are you getting it now?
Problem is I'm saying that people are buying windows to play games on their macs so I dont know why you think I care if apple gets money or not. I'm talking about Microsoft being purchased for people who already purchsed a computer and an OS just because there is a lack of games on their platform.
Do I care if apple gets money? No.. Does it bother me that someone runs Windows on a Mac? Not at all. Question is ... does it bother you if windows is run on a Mac?
LOL right and thats exactly my point! You're saying there is more to life than stupid games - but people will still want to play them, just like how you and I are here talking about this nonsense.
Is it sinking in for you yet? Just because there is more to life than something does not mean people dont want to do it.....so you can try and knock down gaming all you want but its a big part of life, just as is youtube. Imagine if youtube was not available on macs! What would yo do!?
i used my computer built for windows xp (bought in 2004) for windows seven, and it recognized my drivers easily. i didn't do anything. after i installed and go to my desktop i saw it started to install my drivers automatically...
Windows 7 does not run all vista drivers yet. I encountered some problems (Although its clear I will run into prolems with a beta). Ive since delete the beta and got back to my favourite OS. Leopard.
You aren't going to need to upgrade your computer from a Vista ready one to a Seven ready one, SINCE THE VISTA DRIVERS WORK WITH SEVEN, and IT DOESNT REQUIRE ANY MORE HARDWARE.
Jesus christ, get some sense into your minds and stop speaking bullshit...
lol, without 128gpu you wont be using dx9 or 10. Ill never belive it runs fine. ITS A FRESH ISTALL. just wait till you start bloating it up with your apps and downloads. Let it get 6 months on it and then tell me its ok. You actually think win7 is different than vista? You think win7 runs on lower hardware than vista? If vista wont do well on your machine than win7 wont either. Runs fine? lololo i believe that for sure. im sure its super fast, lol.
lol, without 128gpu you wont be using dx9 or 10. Ill never belive it runs fine. - AppleSoldier
Ok I have an ATI x800xl 256MB video card, it was released in 2004 and has Dx9 support. It has served me very well and it still works.
Anyway, given that this video card is going on 5 years I think it safe to say having a 128Mb Ram video card isn't going to be difficult to support. You are only missing Aero if it doesn't have Dx9 support.
You don't need 128MB of dedicated graphics memory, as long as there's 128mb total(virtual+/dedicated), without that much and a DirectX 9 capable GPU, Aero and GPU-Accelerated applications won't run.
Computers with DirectX 9 IGPs that have no dedicated memory run just fine, my laptop's X3100 has 128MB of system memory allocated, Aero runs just fine in Vista and 7.
He shows no proof that windows 7 computers will be more expensive and they most likely will not. Why would a 6 month old video card that worked on Vista not work with 7? The odds of that happening is like 1 out of 100
My parents have Windows 7 on their PC I go on it every now and then it's not bad, it's quick doesn't look too ugly but it still has some little annoying things with it... That's why I'm a Mac

Debian is much better than ubuntu. Debian makes ubuntu look like shit in comparison.
UbuntuLee 3 years ago

GrowingDemon 3 years ago

But there are millions of PC users who would love to convert but don't have the money right now.
jamesbeach2 3 years ago
I will agree that there are a lot of PC users who will want to convert and I know some of them. Most of those are people who've had trouble with spyware and viruses but also they are the ones that search for warez and free music - I know because I have to fix their machines.
I think you're right about the double edge sword thing. I mean the recent thing with the 20000 trojan infections on the mac was kind of big news and spread fast. See its the warez seekers that always have problems :)
svtcontour 3 years ago 2

Updated the drivers with Windows Update, poof... done.

Good Talking head!
He attests to the age old Windows horror stories (all true) which i have personally lived through in my former Windows life. And the truth is this: With every Windows upgrade you will HAVE to eventually upgrade your hardware and software!
stevensonrf 3 years ago
kind of the same with most operating systems? you won't need to with windows 7, snow leopard? those on the power chips now have to buy a new computer. cant just blame windows, its inevitable that some point you will need to upgrading my OLD dell which runs a celeron 2.4 will run windows 7
Skutz0r 3 years ago

I personally feel the Linux GUI is a better design (Gnome) than OSX.

jamesbeach2 3 years ago
Windows 7 has absolutely no hardware/software compatibility problems if it runs on Vista. It's the same OS build basically.
If you now run Vista, everything about Windows 7 will be an upgrade, and will require less specs, that's just fact. This guy is talking such shit.
A $1000 PC in today's retail standards will run Win.7 flawlessly, and WILL HAVE far more power/stability then a Mac running OS X for the same value.
BTW he's ugly like fuck.
PoliticalHell 3 years ago
How does this make Apple look good?
If anything, it makes Linux look better than everything because legacy hardware is extensively supported. Apple is giving up on PPC which was only discontinued back in 2006. What do PPC owners do? Now, they have to go buy a new hardware software combo just like Splitpaw said you have to do with Windows.
In summary, proprietary software is only good if you buy a new computer every 2 years. Otherwise, free software is the best way to go for longevity.
WeeManFoo 3 years ago
In computer years, 2 years is a lifetime. You're completely right, if you're using a system older then two years, I hate to say it but it's old. Experts recommend getting a new computer every two years to keep up to date with the technology, maybe even more often now, as it's speeding so fast, intel core 2 duo's are the lowest-end processors now, only in 2006 they were the newest best thing.
PoliticalHell 3 years ago
I wouldn't say the C2D processor are the lowest end processors now, but it is true that for the same price as the slowest C2D in 2006, you can get a much faster quad core with much more processing power.
If all computers should be replaced after 2 years, then complaining that Macs and Windows computers don't support older hardware doesn't matter. What matters is when people hold onto that old box for more that 2 years. That's when free and open source software really shines.
WeeManFoo 3 years ago
I think they mean that the older C2D cores are the oldest ones still in production.
I can't vouch for the validity of that statement.

Lastly, I have a vid of Vista installed fresh on a dual PIII 650 box with 1GB RAM with SP1 and its pretty peppy. I'll be doing Windows 7 on the PIII box soon. Will make a vid ad will even do things like open photoshop, open some pics taken with my SLR camera while playing music and having email open..and even burning a DVD at the same time...
svtcontour 3 years ago
Also DDR2 RAM is about $20 for 2GB - sometimes even cheaper. The people compalining about it using ram and affording ram...how can you even pay for the electricity that runs the box if you cant afford $20 to upgrade a machine by 2GB to make a current or even future OS happy?

Wow not only did they get raped with the price of the computer, now they get reamed again with lack of support.
I on the other hand have run Windows 7 on a dual PIII box without much drama.
I will laugh in the face of the first person I meet with a G5 that cant run Snow Leopard.

jamesbeach2 3 years ago
Honest answer needed from you... if "it just works" , can I direct all the mac issues I get from friends over to you? Things ranging from beachballing when trying to print, programs quitting with no reason or error, kernel panics. Driver issues for things like printers or scanners they've just picked up...
If you say ok, then I'll ask them to come onto youtube and send their probs your way - but only if you agree.
svtcontour 3 years ago
All the issues are PC Window issues unrelated to the mac. this is PC fanboy propaganda. And do not send unwanted email - spam - because it is just trolling and not factual. I have NEVER had one issue with the 6 macs I have owned in the past 10 years. I currently use 3 macs for various purposes and they have never had an issue.
If mac had issues they would provide support.
jamesbeach2 3 years ago
So basically what you are saying is, no you dont want to deal with the problems my friends have / had with their Macs....
BTW I've owned like 20 PCs so far and I've had no problems with them either and not with windows or any other OS I've run (OS/2 for example).
I've also got a G4 running Tiger as well. I've had the computer for 3 years. If I was so impressed with the stability of OSX, I would have gone out to buy a new mac by now but I have not.....
svtcontour 3 years ago
I do not want to deal with them. But everyone knows, millions of PC users, that windows has bugs in their programs. Vista is notorious. And it is also well knowned that MAC is free of major issues. So I would consider all your complaints to be PC propoganda. Reading what you have written, is does not sound creditable. I also have two PCs and they are not stable. They suck. You cannot even turn them off without Window taking over.
jamesbeach2 3 years ago
Go take a look at my vids. I actually own two macs. Not credible. LOL. I've owned 5x the machines you owned so far. I've got a couple servers at home. I am an admin at my place of work and we have both Macs and PCs (for servers and workstations).
Again, the fact that you are unable to operate a windows machine, tells me you dont know whats going on. Heck my little sister is on her 3rd year with Vista and its the original install! LOL. I can get you the time and date stamps on the OS too :)
svtcontour 3 years ago
The fact that there are more than 10X the desktop users for windows vs OSX and god knows how many times (50X maybe) of windows based servers vs OSX servers means you will hear about more problems - just because there are way more people. Think about it.
PS. I'd love to see you send me a screenshot from a Mac that you can get your hands on that has been running 24-7 for a year!
svtcontour 3 years ago
There are 10,000 times more Chevies on the road than Rolls Royces - so in your mind that means a Chevy is a better car. Well you just exposed your mindset and lack of logic. All stats show that Vista has major opertating issues and OSX operated flawlessly. Say what you will but you cannot argue facts.
jamesbeach2 3 years ago
No you moron thats not what I said.
If there are 10,000 more chevies on the road,l that means you will hear about problems with chevies more often. Wake up please....
svtcontour 3 years ago
Sorry for the slip of the insult (calling you a moron). It was frustration for you not bothering to read what I wrote at all before answering.
svtcontour 3 years ago
svt, no problem. But auto stats show the % of problems per the number of cars on the road. Vista has been acknowledged to be a nightmare by the majority of people running it. Even microsoft as admitted problems. I will not run it, I am using XP.
jamesbeach2 3 years ago
While I will admit that Vista does have occasional backward compatability issues with older software and hardware and does need more resources, that is really the case with any new OS.
I remember when XP first came out, there are lots of things that did not run right. There were games, CD burning software, Antivirus software..etc. There was also a lack of some video drivers. Only after SP1 came out did things smooth out.
I've run vista at home and work and honestly, its been very good.
svtcontour 3 years ago
I've also built about 500 machines for clients, family and friends. I'd tell you what makes for a stable system and what doesnt but it doesnt matter. You think you already know and wont want to hear it anyway.
The fact that I can right this second provide you with two screenshots of old win2k boxes with uptimes of nearly a YEAR prove everything you said wrong. Unstable my ass.
...you know where stability comes from? The user. If someone has no clue, their computer will be unstable.

-Don't upgrade to Win7 because no hardware out today can meet its requirements
-No drivers for printers/cameras so you will have to buy new ones
-It will cost you $2500 to upgrade your computer to run Win7
HOWEVER a mac will cost you much less, so buy that instead.

Yet Apple doesn't produce a Yield or Dividend and MS stock has a Yield and Dividend.
Although Apple has the higher stock, it's more volatile and you don't earn money until you sell the stock at a higher price.

Therefor it's Vista 2.0.
commodore256 3 years ago
More to the point, you'll have to get out of the middle ages if you're still using XP.
The only people running XP now are businesses who never expected IE to get updated beyond version 6 [for some reason], those with netbooks or hardware that will be obsolete, and luddites.
bombkangaroo 3 years ago
I have 3 Adult relatives who can't afford to upgrade o Vista and they all have less than 512MB of RAM. I have exactly 512MB of RAM. Times are hard and people nowadays have upgrading their computer the last thing on their minds.
So you want me to speend $400 on Vista or Windows 7, Upgrade my RAM, buy a new printer and scanner and not pay rent for a month.
All of my Income goes to rent for a 2 bed duplex and that barely pays half of it.
Some of us can't afford to live in the 21st century.
commodore256 3 years ago
So stay with XP. nobody is twisting your arm. If you've already got it running then stay with it.
If you had a g4 mac with 10.2 that originally came with it, nobody would be twisting your arm to switch from that to a new mac and spend money either.
Some people switch to Linux if money is tight. BTW Vista OEM can be had for as little as $140 for the home premium and RAM is like $20-30 these days. Its not free but not nearly as bad as you make it out to be.
svtcontour 3 years ago
No, I will not stick with XP, I got off the Monopoly last year and I was sick of viruses, so I use Ubuntu now. (I would only use windows if I have to)
I even Installed Ubuntu on my older Sister's 1.0Ghz Pentium III with three hundred and something megabytes of ram and I said Isn't that kinda slower? It would be faster if you were using a 7 year old OS like windows XP. (without viruses) She said "I don't want windows" and She has been using windows forever and hasn't used a mac since the 80's.
commodore256 3 years ago
Has she tried XFCE or OpenBox? That might speed things up.
bombkangaroo 3 years ago
"So you want me to speend $400 on Vista or Windows 7, Upgrade my RAM, buy a new printer and scanner and not pay rent for a month."

bombkangaroo 3 years ago
Yes xp drives will not work in vista, thats why you use vista drivers in vista not xp drivers. Is people like you who still think vista is bad because it wont run xp drivers.
Have you tryed to run windows 95 drivers in xp?
rogelead 3 years ago
Now, XP is a 7 year old Operating System. so anything made within the past 7 years will work with XP. Now, I have a 3 year old printer and there are no Vista drivers for it because it came out before Vista, so that "everything that worked with Vista will work with windows 7" compatibility will do me no good because Windows 7 uses the same kernel as vista.
Now let me ask you something. What was wrong with XP? Nothing, Micro$oft just wanted to make more money and sell something else.
commodore256 3 years ago
Nothing is wrong with windows xp, its a great OS i used it for years until i built my own computer just this past summer.
But windows didn't want to make money, well ok they wanted to make money but what company doesn't, but they didn't want to make money for the purpose of making money.
Why did Microsoft make xp? why did they make windows 2000? They might as well of kept it with windows 95, that was a good OS. They made Vista to keep up with the times and it was buggy to start with.
rogelead 3 years ago
Now let me ask you a question.
Best feature of windows 7
rogelead 3 years ago
Are you fucking stupid? XP is flawed up the ass. It has security problems, runs slower on benchmarks and is glitchy as fuck.
They made vista to UPDATE. Companies UPDATE sometimes if you haven't noticed.
UbuntuLee 3 years ago
That could have been fixed in a service pack. Why sell a new OS that doesn't work with the people's hardware?
commodore256 3 years ago
Because NT in XP was messed. It probably needed to be redone. Oh and most of Vistas problems have been fixed.
UbuntuLee 3 years ago
What about the hardware requirements? Was that fixed? Do you know why Vista's hardware requirements are so high compared to XP? It's because Vista's watching you and that takes system resources. I wouldn't like to have a OS that invades my privacy. Would you?
commodore256 3 years ago
LAWL. Are you nuts? That is not where the resources go. Its called superfetch, it loads parts of programs into the ram so they open and perform faster. OS X has this too. No one is "invading" your privacy. Don't be a noob. As for hardware requirements it requires more because it does more.
UbuntuLee 3 years ago
If you have less than 512MB of ram, why can't this "superfetch" thing be turned off and have it only need 128MB of ram if you don't have the resources like with XP?
Vista's DRM kernel controls what you do and limits your freedom and liberties with your computer.
And Vista does watch watch what you do, I just can't put a link in this comment because youtube won't let you put links in comments.
commodore256 3 years ago

Again, what do I care if they give apple money. LOL you dont get it. They are still running Windows. Microsoft STILL gets their money. The more Apple sells macs that can run windows, the more money MS makes. Are you getting it now?
svtcontour 3 years ago
nope. apple still get's money too so wtf?
OSX owns windows by far =]
PowerMacUser 3 years ago
Exactly...wtf !

There are tons of games for Mac OS X. there were more than 15 in 1984. Get your butt out of your ears you big stupid prejudice WinTards.
Hildron101010 3 years ago
Really? I'm not talking scrabble, quake3, doom3 and stuff like that.
I dont see things like Crysis, Farcry2, Bioshock, fallout3..etc. Nothing new and current.
So yes, I appogize, I forgot about the games that came out 5-10 years ago.

There is more to life than stupid games.

There is also more to life than stupid youtube arguements, yet here you are....

you're here to moron.
Hildron101010 3 years ago
TOO, sorry. so shut up svtcontour
Hildron101010 3 years ago

NuMb3r1PuNjAbI94 3 years ago
Windows 7 does not run all vista drivers yet. I encountered some problems (Although its clear I will run into prolems with a beta). Ive since delete the beta and got back to my favourite OS. Leopard.

Idiot.

AppleSoldier 3 years ago
even if someone wanted 128gpu they are dirt cheap to buy.. and win7 is much faster than vista

Ok I have an ATI x800xl 256MB video card, it was released in 2004 and has Dx9 support. It has served me very well and it still works.
Anyway, given that this video card is going on 5 years I think it safe to say having a 128Mb Ram video card isn't going to be difficult to support. You are only missing Aero if it doesn't have Dx9 support.
blacksteel25 3 years ago
People have ben running it on netbooks since the beta was leaked several months ago and still no problems...
gerv55 3 years ago
Hmmm...but its already been proven. The truth hurts, but denials what will kill you.

DirectX 9 GPUs have been around since 2004.

Can't even figure out vista drivers work for windows 7.
Have a 1.

Windows 7 will support vista drivers.

Wow this entire video is basically someone saying
This *might happen...
That *might happen...
You *may lose something...
If this happens, then that *might happen...
blah blah blah and the world *might end
He shows no proof that windows 7 computers will be more expensive and they most likely will not. Why would a 6 month old video card that worked on Vista not work with 7? The odds of that happening is like 1 out of 100
