well, running windows on Mac, if it is indeed the same, will just bring Mac's defence against viruses and spyware down again, so why bother?

incorrect. An operation system can't get a virus. It's the computer that actually gets the virus. So what they mean is PC computers get viruses Mac's can't the computer not the operating system
