@thinklarge21 You may be confused about the term 'Redline'. In a lot of cars the RPM limit may actually not be in the red zone of the tacho. Conversely, on some cars the rev limit may lie past the guage's limit. In this case, the redline is probably around the 8000 RPM mark and the driver is shifting at that mark as you can see. Even though the guage goes up to 11k RPM, it's probably not safe/worthwhile to go past 8k RPM on this particular car.

@Suprastar77 Just because it can rev higher, doesn't mean you have to. The powerband is probably between that 6-8k rpm, so revving it higher is pointless.

@freemumiaaj actually it depends on the cars rev limit maybe it revs pretty early depending on the tuning your giving it and since this is a circuit i would say the rev limit should be pretty early since you entering and exiting corners half of the time

lacks low end torque you can see there is still turbo lag, the mines gtr however focusd souly on response and balance and delivers maximum acceleration at and rev, thats what seperates mines from nismo

i think the revs do go past 8.. but torque reduces if you keep it in the same gear, so there is no point. might aswell change and keep it on maximum torque

@arniebarb123 Technically it is stock. Nissan went out and found 10 mint R34's, bought them back. Completely disassembled them and rebuilt them in a limited edition run of 10 identical cars. These were zero mile, factory new when they were sold, even though it was after R34 production stopped. Look at it this way, a Corvette ZR1 is stock too.

@zeeanater this, the r34 gtr nismo z-tune, is in fact very fancy, a mighty special car indeed. remember it's a full factory car, not just some after market tune up job. it's been worked over to a greater extent than, or at least the same extent as, a challenge stradale, compared to the standard 360. oh, and it is a damn sight rarer, as the swan song for the r34, they only made 20 of the things.

He doesn't need to shift at redline. If he's making peak power at 8k he'd shift then so that he stays in the power-band in the next gear. Shifting at redline isn't always best.

@anbukakashi2222 redline is not 9000rpm even though the tach says so. 9000rpm for an rb would be suicide. lots of guys with rb's dont even like to push past 8k and will shift around 7500rpm just to preserve the engine. This is of course on an amateur bpu time attack level. Obviously race bred full out time attack cars aren't concerned about that!

@smackers99 Yeah, I agree. But realistically if I had a gtr especially a 15yr old r32 or r33 i would never even think about hitting the limiter. Over time its suicide, i've seen it happen many times. rb is a ticking time bomb on a AMATEUR level. obviously this is a brand new Z-tune with pro drivers who dont give a shit about the car. Like i said realistically come on anything past 7500rpm is hard on the rb.

Not a criticism, just a question: Should he have downshifted to be in a better spot of the power band in the last few corners? He allowed the revs to hit below 4K on many of the last few corners. I know he had a good entrance speed but I would think that his exit speed was lowered because of it, incorrect?

I think its faster if he stays in a higher gear, he will lose time up shifting if he's in a lower gear exiting the corners. It could be the same time, but it's more work for him to up shift then down shift again.
