Apart from being the Whore of Baylon, I think he also killed her because he no longer needed protecting. He had destroyed the daggers and he was now ready to take his place as the true son of the devil, the desolate one, who would rise up and destroy the world, claiming it for his own. Everyone who knew of his secret is now gone. What use was she now. He already had his true followers in Paul and Sergeant Neff.

The scene finall explains the character of Ann, the wife of Wm Holden.
